Food for Friday?

    Good Morning Everyone!

Jim's back at the garage getting the new tires on and the brake part fixed. I slept in a bit as one of the male turkeys started gobbling LOUDLY at 4:45 and continued on for at least 3/4 of an hour until I managed to fall back asleep. GRRRRRR......

What a shame you lost your little Blue Spruce Joce. That's a drag. :( We got a smattering of rain last night around 6:30 and then we're supposed to get quite a severe thunderstorm tonight and more thunderstorms Sat. and Sun. Your cold plate for dinner sounded great!

I have been through that exact 'friend' issue a few times Linda. It's so sad really. But bottom line, what I feel is that you should expect just as much out of a friend relationship as you put in. It's just not being a good friend if one doesn't make a point of sending best wishes on birthdays, or never responding to emails. Friendship shouldn't feel like work. And it certainly shouldn't be one sided.

Sorry to hear about your friend too Laurie. That's sad. Yes, "All the light we cannot see" is about the blind girl in France and the young german boy. Good luck at your appointment today. Ugh on tripping on the rug. Do take care.

Jim and I had a lovely lunch out yesterday and a fun shop. I got some nice placemats and some serviettes and cream hand soap and then we did find a small patio set at Lowe's for the side patio. Two comfy chairs with ottomans and a small table perfect for two cups of coffee. The service was HORRIBLE and I've written a letter to the store manager. I think we were in there for about an hour trying to get help.

Our shishkebob were lovely last night. Still chickened out so need to go look in the freezer for what else we might have. Porkchops maybe?

Gonna go get something to eat and then start putting the patio furniture together. OH! A bear took down my fly through feeder in the front yard this morning. Ugh. Not sure yet whether the screw anchor for the pole is broken or just bent at 90 Degrees.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

We also got a bit of rain last night, Janet. It is supposed to be a scorcher today and all weekend. It is supposed to get up to 87F with high humidity! I am glad you found a patio set. Shaking my head about the bad service at Lowe's. Where did you buy the placemats? I have been looking for some cotton ones that wash well. Maybe don't put any more things out to attract bears. You seem to get them every year and I know you have sort of a phobia about them.
I hope the Orthopedic guy at the hospital helps you, Laurie. Good luck with that.

We are having steak for dinner tonight and I hope it isn't storming when we want to BBQ. I think it is going to be too hot for me to go around and look at the garden centres but maybe I will get into the mood to go later? I need to go dust and dry mop the hardwood floors. They get so dusty when we open the windows up to air the house out.
I better go do it or it won't get done.
    Wishing everyone a great day!

Morning Janet! Ugh on the gobbling turkey :( I guess i need to read back on yesterdays post on Linda and Laurie. Glad you had a nice time out yesterday but booo on the service you got at Lowes. Your right to write a letter of complaint. Yikes on the bear!

At the gym in the locker room cooling down a bit. Bri has a tournament this weekend starting tonight so i need to find a mini cooler just to carry a few waters since she only has two games tonight. Ive seen a few cute ones online but dont have time to wait for the shipping. Maybe Target will have something? Also going to stop by Sams to pick up some strawberries, grapes and wharever other fruit catches my eye. Michael is having to work a night shift tonight so i have to do the tournament alone tonight and part of tomorrow :( At least its here in Santa Fe! Dinner is probably ball park food :) Have a great day everyone!1

I got the placemats at Bed, Bath and Beyond Joce. They had a zillion to choose from. Mine are polyester with a white background and sort of an orange flower paisley design. They say they can be washed and thrown in the dryer. They were regularly $6.99 which isn't a bad price to start with at all but on sale for 4/$20 so I couldn't resist. Also picked up four of a kind of felt/foam material with a tree pattern on for my girlfriend (hostess gift for the next time we're invited to their cottage) :). They were only $1.98 a pc. Probably won't stand up really long but certainly good enough for a cottage season and they're really cute. Yes, I've had bears visit on a number of occasions I know and yes, LOL, I have a phobia about bears, but....last year I put the feeder straight back up and didn't have another problem and I'll probably do the same this time. If it comes back I'll hold off for a week or so but it may have just been passing through. I LOVE to feed my bears. Yum on your steak for dinner. Good luck with your house work.

    Hi.

Ugh on the snooty friends. People can be a pain at times. We have a neighbor who is alternately your best buddy and worse enemy. Never know which half will show up.
I hate the feeling of not knowing if someone just wants to drop you r friendship or ??, esp. when you have no clue what is wrong. Have to reread the post from yesterday.

Went to Silver Dollar City yesterday. Hot and humid and too mnsy people....some sort of youth thing going on so it was super crowded. Went to the evening show and the storm that was over seventy minutes away stayed there, but a corn grew right above us and they cancelled the show. Armpitheaters are not safe in lightning! Took the tram to the parking area and we really got soaked from all the rain. Daughter is petrified of storms esp with lightning. They are careful to watch incoming weather but the storm took everyone by surprise. Second time this week they had to cancel.

Must go. Will Che k in later.

SP Michelle! :) Is the cooler you're after a hard sided or a soft sided thing? Have fun at Bri's tournament. Good luck to her and her team. I like Ball Park food on occasion. :)

I think you've passed your hot and humid weather on to us Karen! Too bad Silver Dollar City was so crowded. That does distract I agree. "A corn grew right above us?" Is that a tornado term? What a drag the show was cancelled and you got drenched!

I got the patio furniture assembled and the kitchen cleaned up. Would like to go plant my cherry tomatoes but will wait 'til Jim gets back incase the bear comes for me. LOLOL.

No.....my iPad changed storm to corn Abdul I didn't have time to reread and correct. Stupid phone.

Internet went out this morning for a while. They fixed it. We may look into satellite internet but the ones we know about are bad.

Hi again! Was looking for a soft sided cooler Janet, something small that fits 4-6 water bottles comfortably with a pocket on the outside to hold my phone, keys etc. with straps so I can carry it like a purse. I did find one that fit my needs perfectly at Target and also found this really nice and thick picnic blanket that I've been wanting to put out under the tent for the girls to lay around and hang out on during the tournaments in between games. Sometimes we can have 2-4 hours between games.

So we got twenty minutes into our first game tonight and it started POURING down! We waited around 4 people to an umbrella waiting to see if it would stop, but it didn't, so in the pouring rain everyone had to gather their stuff and slosh out of there, we were soaking wet and I was cringing the whole ride home with our muddy soaking wet bodies dripping everywhere in my truck :( Grrr. Supposed to continue games tomorrow, but it doesn't seem promising. It's still pouring down and I can't see it drying up fast enough, so we will play it by ear.

Hope everyone had a great night and I'll "see" y'all tomorrow if I can :)
