Foyot Friday

  • notyourmomma 9 years ago
For my carnivore friend, Janet. A foyot is a variation of bearnaise with the addition of a well-reduced meat glaze. Sounds yummy to me. Of course, bearnaise is delicious anytime.

More bloodwork yesterday and I've been referred to an endocrinologist now. Blood pressure was too high. Ang did a great job on my nails, I'll get a pic loaded later.

    Dinner to be determined.

Hope your day is lovely. Happy ease into the weekend! TGIF

Thank God you started the thread Tina! I've been googling for like an hour trying to find a good "F" word to match with Friday. :) I've never heard of Foyot. I would so totally go for that! :)
I'm really glad you're seeing a lot of Dr.'s and they're trying to fix you up. Can't wait to see the picture of your nails. :) Crab Risotto in the first pic! :) That restaurant "El Grande"? that you recently went to in the second pic? And the fancy Banana Bread you made this week in the third? How'd I do? :)
BEE-UTIFUL morning here in the Ottawa Valley. Cool and clear. Going to mow today. Am starving so I need to go get some breakfast. Jim had an early meeting so was out of here in a flash. Not sure what to make for dinner this evening. Am thinking maybe some chicken and an asian slaw maybe? Burgers totally hit the spot last night.
    Wishing everyone a great day.
Hope you get Rachel's aches and pains sorted out Laurie. So sad that she has to deal with that with her being so young but I'm sure the Dr's will figure it out and get her fixed up asap! LOL @ the Market Basket Song. :) How enterprising of Becca to go door to door with babysitting flyers! I'd hire some one like that on the spot as it shows Chutzpah for sure! :) Your orange dessert creation at the Sushi shop was very creative! :)

Too excited! Must share! I bought tickets for Jim and I to go see Chris Hadfield speak here in Ottawa in November and then just now, two tickets for us to go see David Suzuki speak, also here in Ottawa in October. Two of my honest to goodness heroes. I'm so excited! :)

Ding ding ding, Janet is a winner, perfect guesses on the pictures. I want to see The Hundred Foot Journey too. Liv said, "Mommy let's go to that show"
I don't know of the gentlemen you mention, will need to google. Leaning toward grilled steak over ratatouille.

    Back later, feeling queasy.

    Hello!
    I've missed you all!!! :)
My mother-in-law just left after a week long visit. Out of town Hospital trips are over with and all major doctor visits with the kids too, phew! Thankfully my son does not have Muscular Dystrophy, that was my biggest worry. They are sending him to get an MRI of the brain and spine but otherwise he feels Colter should not get worse or need leg braces or a wheel chair in the future. So the orthotics and physical therapy are the best medicine for him right now. He may need to get botox in his legs to help loosen the muscles, but we'll see after more rigorous physical therapy.
The sale on our house went under last minute, so we had to scurry and get out of the other house purchase. Back to doing viewings and finally another offer! So, were back to looking at homes and hopefully put an offer on something else soon. This time we move out Aug 29th instead of the 1st. Fingers crossed this offer sticks ;)
I think we might order dinner in tonight, after 7 days of making meals for the MIL I don't want to cook today! There is a raging wind and rain storm and it's a pretty cold gloomy day. A good excuse to curl up on the couch today.
I love David Suzuki too Janet! I always listened to his radio shows in Vancouver and of course the Nature of Things on tv. So exciting!
I hope you don't have to wait too long to see the Endoc. Tina! Hopefully you get some answers and they get you all fixed up asap!
I hope you all have a great day today, take care!

Chris Hadfield is said to be the second most famous astronaut after Neil Armstrong
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Hadfield
and David Suzuki is a major Environmental Activist
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Suzuki
They are both Canadian so I'm guessing that's why you are not familiar with their names Tina. :) Lucky you have Liv to go to the movie with. I'll have to try get a friend to go with me cuz I don't think it's going to be on Jim's list. :) Although you never know. Ugh on feeling queasy. Just take things slow.
And speaking of DING,DING, DING!!!!!! Come on out and play people! It's TOO quiet in here!

Ding Ding Ding! I heard you ringing!

I was at Mom & Dad's yesterday..the day before, while the tree guys were there trimming all kinds of huge trees.... their well started making all kinds of noise..so they had their well guy come out, the water holding tank (I think) had a split in it..so that had to be replaced...then they noticed there wasn't any water coming out of their kitchen faucet..it had become plugged from the well disaster..so had a time finding a plumber who could get there anytime soon..Mom finally found one and he cleaned the lines and all is fine now..I went there to help out cause I knew Mom was just about at the end of her rope! BTW, 2 houses down from them, the well went dry...Dad said their well is deeper so they should be fine...the original owners had a mini farm out back and had pasture to water..the man next door has a small orchard and his well is fine...

Tina, good luck at the Dr's and with your BP..keep us posted dear:)

Janet, so cool on getting tickets! I hadn't heard of the 2 gentlemen either..learn something new every day:) How exciting!!!

Shona, wow, you have been busy...so good to hear from you! Too bad on the house sale not going thru..like I always say..there's a reason for everything:)
Oh Shona! That is wonderful news, Coulter doesn't have MD...wishing him the very best on his physical therapy, it will do wonders I'm sure...

Dinner..dinner..what the heck is for dinner..????????/

SP Shona! Long time no hear! Good to see you! :) Lots going on in your world I see. Nice you had a visit from family and excellent that your hospital trips and doctor's visits are all done. Very glad to hear Colter's good news. It makes my head spin thinking of all the stress involved in the house sale. Good luck. I think you so totally deserve take-out for dinner this evening! Again, so nice to see you.

Good morning! Foyot sounds good to me! Can't wait to see how your nails turned out Tina! Your dinner sounds delicious, funny I'm making ratatouille tomorrow for a family get together- French themed! :)
Sounds like a perfect day to mow for you Janet! I'll have to Google that movie, but if it's a foodie movie, I'm sure I'd like it! Cool on the tickets!
Hi Shona! So glad to hear about your son! Great that he is getting the attention he needs. Wow on all the crazy house stuff going on! Definitely crossing my fingers for you on finding a house! Sounds like you definitely need a break, wow 7 days with your MIL!!!
Got some running around done today. Michael is starting up working nights, so now we just tiptoe around the house until he wakes up. It's hard, LOL! I think the sentence that comes out of my mouth the most is, "Caiden, talk quieter, Daddy's sleeping!" Dinner tonight will be chicken tostadas and I am FINALLY going to make Marie's The Best Tostada Dressing Ever I never have the condensed milk! Have a nice day everyone!!

    HOLY SP's Batman! :)
Goodness me with the well problems at your parents place Marie! When I first started reading it I was worried their well had gone dry as I know you were a bit concerned about that awhile ago. So glad they got it all fixed up and it's back working now. So nice of you to go over and be the moral support as well. :) You are such a good daughter.
Fun on the French themed dinner tomorrow Michelle! and a big YUM on your Chicken tostadas. I could totally go for that right now.
I've decided on the Slaw from Tina's recipe
Crispy Pork Steak With Asian Slaw
    and then

Can't wait to hear about it in the IMI :) Lol at sending me egg recipes Janet :P I tried finding you on Pinterest but it's telling me log in with Facebook to find you there and it's been so long since I've logged in, I can't remember my password lol! Am I doing it right? Try and find me Michelle West and see if you can get it to work...

LOL. There must be a thousand Michelle West's on Pinterest. Oh well....there very well may be that many Janet Irwin's too. :) All you do to search for another pinner is go to the top left hand corner on your main Pinterest page that comes up. Type my name in the search bar and then click on "Pinners" where it gives you a choice of "Pins", "Boards" or "Pinners". Are you friends with anyone else here on GR as I could search you that way too as long as I was also their friend.
I'm actually grinning a little bit as I can tell Joce is 'okay' as she's been pinning on Pinterest today. Which makes me pleased as otherwise I'd be worried about her since she hasn't checked in in a couple of days. "Feel better Joce!....Hope the eyes are healing up". :)

    Hey all.
Frank had today off so we went for a drive to Woodmans in Essex for fried clams when I got out of work. There clams are gluten free and they had gluten free beer! Yay me!
Frank is debating a job change. He was offered another position within partners but it's more of a lateral move. But it has room to move up, where is current position doesn't. And it would mean working in boston again.

You did it Michelle! It was Laurie that initiated me into the world of Pinterest a couple of years ago. Now I'm addicted. :) Tina and Joce (as I mentioned earlier) are on there too.
How far a commute is that for Frank to get into work each morning when he's in Boston Laurie?

Drat.. my camera's batteries are dead..I'm charging them as we speak..I want to make sure to take a pic of the Greek Salad before it's all gone so I can post it in IMI..LOL
We're not eating until later, so maybe they will be charged by then. Janet, I did have a taste and it was really good..tangy, full of flavor!

Michelle, The La Ha Restaurant here is not a chain..there are probably quite a few Mexican restaurants called La Hacienda...!!! I am craving chicken tostadas...but I need evaporated milk..maybe I'll make them tomorrow:) (yep, 1 ingredient short)

Your nails are so beautiful Tina!

    Hi Laurie:)
