TGIF! This has been the LONGEST week!

No cooking for me again tonight! wooohooo But, it's gorgeous today, and the only gorgeous day we are gonna have for the weekend...would rather grill. lol Going to a work party with people from our office and the Knoxville office at Bailey's Sports Bar in Knoxville. Should be fun, but it will be almost an hour drive home for me. Won't drink much...if I got pulled over they'd take me to jail...I wouldn't be able to do any of the sobriety tests with my hip...lol Bryan and I were laughing aobut it last night...I can barely walk anyway...they'd think I was snockered for sure! But hey, free pizza and wings, and I think I can manage to have a drink, too. : )

Val I want to here how the ground turkey was, too. We love it, but not in spaghetti and stuff like that. We like the turkey burgers. I have never made stuffed peppers. Had them once, as a kid, and ate the stuffing and left the pepper. (lol). Got me thinking I may try stuffing some red peppers with some kind of ground turkey concoction tomorrow. hmmm...Have a while to let those wheels turn. lol

Nice way to start the weekend Sparow!
I am a huge fan of Coquille St Jaques. The first time I had it my mother-in-law made it for New Year's Eve celebration. I don't think I've ever had any as good as I remember that meal.

It's day two of cooking and cleaning here for the birthday party tomorrow. Just got done putting up the confetti black-eyed pea salad. Off to hunt through cole slaw dressings. The pulled pork I made yesterday was fabulous and made 9cups! I aslo made up some empanadas and butternut squash bread. The bread did not come out great so I'm going to try to convert it into butternut biscotti's but its not going out for the party I don't think. After all that cooking I ended up havingn two pieces of left over pizza for dinner last night.

I did some stuffed beef rolls yesterday that I thought were going to be dinner but just couldn't make myself cook anything else so those will be dinner tonight.

I just heard the laundry boss summon me, later ladies.

Yes, I agree with Lori. The longest week ever! I am so glad April is almost over.

Don't know what I'm going to do with this chicken. Won't be able to grill again. Supposed to have severe weather this afternoon and evening. Maybe I'll make some chicken noodle or dumplings.

Yummy Otter! All of your party food sounds so good!

Wynne let me know what onion rings recipe you come up with! I have only tried them once, and the batter slid off of them...lol...

Batten down the hatches back there - predicting terrible weather for the weekend. Even said they had never postponed the Kentucky Derby but that it was a possibility.........
Turkey Salisbury Steaks turned out wonderful! He mixed up an egg and 1/2 cup bread crumbs, some Kitchen Bouquet (for color he said???), grated onion, poultry seasning and salt and pepper. He then shaped them into patties, dipped them in bread crumbs and fried them. Smothered them with turkey gravy and they were great! In fact, I brought one for lunch today. Definitely will make them again.
Our local grocery store (QFC - Donna) had Alaskan True Cod on sale for $3.99 a lb - so I got 4 lbs of frozen pieces and 2 lbs of shrimp $3.99 a lb also and froze them. Going to make some shrimp stuffed cod fillets tonight! Not sure on the sides yet!
Pat I am jealous with all your wonderful sounding meals, especially the scallops and lobster rolls!
Lori have fun tonight - sounds like a great get together.
Going to look up grape nut pudding. Sounds interesting Wynne.
Sounds like you are ready for the party Otter. Maybe you can relax today and have fun tomorrow!
Be careful Ang and have a good day everyone!

I'll let you know what recipe I use for the onion rings, Lori.....I have made them with a beer batter and they turned out great.

I had grapenut pudding for dessert when we went out for dinner last night....It was really good and I was gonna look for a recipe to try making....LOL

Ran across a great looking gingerbread bar recipe I'm gonna try for tomorrow night...The boys are coming over for supper and they love anything gingerbread like.

LOL Lori, on looking like your drunk with the way you walk. I totally can relate to that! Sometimes after a drink, I think i walk better! Good for you on the not having to cook much this week. Enjoy tonight. (Can't Bryan be your designated driver?)

Wynne, I love onion rings - just never attempted to make them myself. I think my batter would fall off like Lori's.

Pat, I don't know what Coquille St. Jacque is, but it sounds good! LOL sounds like you're having a great time with some great food too!

Otter, as usual, your food sounds amazing.

Ang, you could make my spicy SW chicken chowder....? Or chicken chili?

Val, those salisbury steaks DO sound good, I think he added the "color" cuz turkey can look kind of "pale" and unappetizing without it. I just might run to QFC myself today. Those shrimp stuffed cod filets sound to die for! Do you have the recipe posted?

Laurie, you are the QUEEN of free stuff! Good for you! I'm so structured, I never "surf" around on the net, just stick to the same ol' same ol' ....

I'm wanting something "different" for dinner, just not sure what it is... Maybe I'll grill chicken satay with that peanut sauce I bought earlier this week... Or burgers - LOL (how's that for different!)

I wish Donna...party starts at 5:30, I get to leave early! woohoo. He doesn't get off work til after 7, and works another 12 hour shift tomorrow...he won't want to go home and clean up then go all the way back up to Knoxville...I'd probably pass him on the interstate. But thanks for the idea! : )

I want something different, too. Haven't even started working on the idea for those stuffed peppers for tomorrow night, and I am going to the store at the crack of dawn tomorrow! lol

What's the crack of dawn look like anyway? LOL Just got back from the store(s) - great deal on London Broil - bogo - gonna have one of 'em either Sunday or Monday. I decided on hamburgers for tonight - started sounding too good to me after I got it in my mind. Also stopped in at Half-Price Books - found 3 great hard-bound books for $4! James Patterson, Michael Connelly, and John Sandford - 3 of my fav writers! Heaven....I'm in heaven.... (how's that for showing my age)
