Friday Again!

WOW! I can't believe it's already Friday again. Wish I was planning to go away again tonight...lol

Did everyone have a nice evening? Sounds like we all did...whether at home or out and about. Bryan cooked my dinner! He will sometimes heat up leftovers, and put potatoes on to bake...and grill meat after I've gotten it ready. lol He had picked up some ribeyes and marinated them himself! (In a bowl of worcestershire and montreal steak seasoning). :) And had baked potatoes ready, too. (He's the tater baker, anyway...I call him Tater King). He'd even stopped to buy chocolate covered strawberries...lol...so we had an abundance of that. I found a small bottle of sparkling wine that had been a gift, and has been the the fridge for at least a year, if not two, so I didn't think it would be good...but...it was wonderful! He had a few beers and I had the wine. Got a pretty little bush of red sweetheart roses (the little ones?) to re-plant. And watched Survivor. lol Fun night.

Tonight I will have to do my housework. And he and Hil both work, so, no cooking. lol That is becoming the order of the day at my house!! Tomorrow is the re-scheduled it's-not-a-surprise-anymore birthday party with the girls. We are going to Chilis at 1.

Need to post my pix from last weekend tonight, too.

Hope everyone has a GOOOOOOD day!!!

There are orchid trees blooming now in Florida but that isn't what I meant. Mom hung her orchids from the branches of trees in the yard. Kevin took most of them but a few were secreted about and eluded his detection. This basket had fallen from the branch and hid until I discovered it blooming yesterday. So it was a different kind of orchid tree you see :)

Good Morning Lori! Your Valentine's Day celebration sounded very lovely. Nice on the sweetheart roses. Remind me again what bush there was in your yard that had been there forever and Bryan was involved in some way with either it's demise or it's resurrection? CRAFT! How fun that you have your Girl's get-together tomorrow. That's excellent. The Lemon Dill chicken was okay. It was even good. But not so good that I'd make it again. It was mild. Which I was pleased about as I've made Chicken Piccata in the past and Jim finds the lemon flavouring too strong.
Have fun running errands Marie! And a good drive to Sacramento tomorrow. I too heard the gorgeous weather is supposed to continue 'til Tuesday which is awesome as tonight once Jim gets off work we're doing that drive along the Pacific Coast Highway. Staying over close to Santa Cruz this evening so we can head a head start on the trip tomorrow morning.
So no cooking for me this evening.
    Have a great day everybody!

SP Laura! Your Mom hung her orchids from tree branches? I'm going to surmise that they don't have a big root system? Something like "Hens and Chicks" and you can just stick them wherever? Sounds very cool no matter. :)
Am having fun googling restaurants for the next few nights on our road trip. I could not live without Trip Advisor ever again. :)

The ballet was great. It was a modern piece, from the Ballet from hamburg, Germany. About the famous dancer Nijinsky, who was a great dancer at the beginning of lasts century, but, unfortunately, became crazy as he got older. So the ballet piece, we saw, was pretty wild.

After the performance, we went to Jardiniere ( http://www.jardiniere.com/ ) for a little snack .Fries with harissa aioli and arancini with pulled pork. Delish, with some Riesling from the Mosel, Germany. with it

@ Chuckieb : You're in Santa Cruz, CA ? That's in my backyard. What kind of restaurants, and where, are you looking for. I know about a couple good ones ...

Right know I have a bread in the oven baking, an Italian rustic loaf, very simple with a biga and yeast. Smellls wonderful. On Sunday, I think, I will try out those Tasty Wheat Buns .

Tonight dinner : Leberkaes ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leberk%C3%A4se ) with a fried egg on a slice of the freshly baked bread and some green salad. Getting hungry already :)

Yum on Enchiladas Marie. Sounds like a great Friday night meal.
What an excellent evening you had last night Ralph! Wow on your snack at Jardiniere !
Hubby and I are doing a road trip along the Pacific Coast Hwy. #1 this weekend. We're staying over tonight in Capitola. I found four restaurants on Trip Advisor that looked interesting. Paradise Beach Grille, Caruso's Tuscan Cuisine, Stockton Bridge Grille or My Thai Beach. We don't want anything super fancy and we do like good bang for our buck and we do like ethnic foods or anything a little out of the ordinary. What do you think? Any suggestions are most welcome! Thanks! :) Yum on your Italian loaf. Don't know what biga is so will go google it. Wow on the Leberkaes. I'd never heard of that before. Good link. Very cool. You're making me hungry now. :)

Camera charged as well as a second battery Lori! :)
I always, always use flour tortillas. And the ones we get in our stores are sad. The selection here appears to be much nicer. The only ones Jim will eat is from a local Texan restaurant. They make them fresh on the premises. I buy a dozen and keep them on hand in the freezer. I think I tried corn tortillas once. Didn't care for them.

Me too Janet, on the flour tortilla. Don't like corn tortillas. It's a corn meal thing. lol I make corn bread etc for others, but, it never touches my lips. Don't like it. It's a texture thing...seems gritty. Grit = dirt. LOL :)
