FRIDAY THE 13th!!!!

Good Morning Everyone! It is a balmy 32C/89.6F this afternoon here in Pingtung. People are actually out there with long sleeved shirts and I even saw one guy all dressed in black. OMG. It's craziness.

Went to the movies this afternoon. Great move on our behalf. Saw "Ready Player One". If I'd have been home I wouldn't have chosen it but there were only about 6 Hollywood movies showing (the rest Chinese) and that one got the best reviews. Am I ever glad I saw it. It was so different and so much fun. Benj found us a lovely restaurant for lunch and we had a fantastic meal. Seafood fried rice, Spicy Lemon Sea bass and lamb skewers. All to die for. Benjamin had to head straight to work after lunch so he called us a taxi. He coached Jim ahead of time how to say our destination but the taxi driver wanted a street address, which Jim had, but couldn't say in Chinese. LOLOLOL. So the poor driver called his dispatch guy who luckily could speak some English and had Jim say the street address to him who in turn translated it for our driver. Excitement around every corner I tell ya. LOLOLOL.

Just at home waiting for the temps to cool down. I think Benj gets off around 8:30 or so. We'll eat something small tonight. For anyone who likes the foodie scene, this is a great country to visit.

Making homemade mayo is actually a fantastic idea Karen and Jett (Hi Jett! Nice to see you), as eggs are easy to find.

Now that you mention never driving through a car wash Karen, I don't think I've ever done it myself. I should try for a giggle this summer.

I can see now Michelle why you didn't want to wash the truck before it rained. Saw your photos of the fair on FB. The girls look like they had a blast. Go you with the Gnocchi.

Hope your back feels better asap Laurie. Did you end up finding a bathing suit that was comfortable? That's hilarious about your friend's cat. Maybe his former owners trained him to do that? That being said, how would one even train a cat to do that. Hmmmm........

Friday the 13th today. Mine's been great so far so I hope all of yours are too. :)

Morning Janet! Oh wow, it didn't click with me that it's Friday the 13th!! Hahaha! Glad you enjoyed your movie, I'll have to look it up, doesn't sound like something I'd choose either! I'm so jealous of all the wonderful food your having, all looks SOOOO good :) Lol at the confusing ride with the cab driver, glad you made it back though.

The fair last night was a blast!!! It was so crowded though but not surprising as it was a "Free" night to get in, and only $8 wrist bands to ride as much and as many rides as you want.

I didn't get to sleep until after midnight. After all the excitement and not getting home until close to 10p, my body was not wanting to go to sleep lol. I'm tired!! Michael has the next 7 days off, so I'm not sure what our plans are today. We may just be lazy around the house and watch some shows? We have a pretty busy weekend coming up, so it sounds enticing :P We may go out for lunch though.

Don't have dinner planned yet, will dig around in the freezer to figure something out. Have a great day everyone!!

That's so nice that Michael has the next week off Michelle! Watching shows and going for lunch sounds like a lovely plan.

Jim and I took a walk. We went to a grocery store and got a few supplies. Then to a fruit stand where we got some pineapple and oranges. It is 8 p.m. and still 31C out there. Oh my goodness. Thank heavens Benjamin has air conditioning.

    Good morning.

I guess I would get used to the excessive heat, but more than likely would stay inside, be miserable, or move. I don’t handle heat and humidity well. Haha! What a taxi ride! Lunch sounds great.

    Ugh on the swimsuit hunt!

Nice Michael has some days off. Sometimes a nice lazy day around the house is perfect.

It is super windy and we are slated to have bad storms later. If it is storming when we have GS we will bring him home with us.

The laundry room is coming along and we are down to the color planning stage. At least the closets are formed. I want disguised litter boxes so have googled various options.

Mauser and Mel are comfy and snoozing on my lap. When Wayne brings Fritz in from his walk they will not be so calm. Ha!

Hi Karen! Hope your weather behaves. Nice that the laundry room is showing progress. Interesting on disguised litter boxes. I don't think I've seen that. I'll have to go to Pinterest and take a peek. Enjoy your cat cuddles.

Good Morning Everyone! Happy Friday the 13th!

Ouch on the high heat Janet! People here wear long sleeves too but it's to block the sun. Crazy though to be dressed wearing all black.
I never heard of "Ready Player One" so I looked it up. Looks good!
They have apps that translate for you. You speak into your phone using the app and it spits it back out written and verbally in the language you pick.
I'd be in Foodie Heaven for sure.

Fun on the fair Michelle. I haven't been to one in a long time but love eating my way thru them. I'm too old for rides (LOL!). Enjoy your time with Michael! 7 days off is a nice break to get some things done with him.

You get use the heat and humidity Karen. It takes a few years for your body to change but it does happen. Hope your storms don't bring too much trouble. What color are you thinking for the laundry room?

We went out for dinner last night instead. DH started cleaning the master bedroom and washing the bedding so I let him continue on. He's been a good "house husband" and I appreciate it.

An undercover animals rights group exposed yesterday 4 illegal slaughter houses here in our county!! I can't even begin to say how disgusted I am to learn this. They were not getting the cooperation needed from officials so they went to the news stations and went public. So many people are up-in-arms about it and hopefully they will be shut down. Not only is the slaughtering illegal but they are slaughtering horses and selling the meat and stolen dogs are taken here and sold for bait for dog fighting or rituals. You would think this is some axx-backwards third world country.

Going to make a pot of turkey chili for lunch. Haven't made it in a long time so ...
    Not sure yet about dinner.

Glad the slaughter houses were stopped, Linda. I don’t believe horses are for food and detest dog baiting. Vick would have been unemployed for life if I were the judge!

Traveler has either died or been run off by the raccoon....which needs the trap reinforced and the bait better protected from reaching thru the grate. My patience is wearing thin and the coon needs to go away. It is male so no babies anywhere.

The problem is Karen they are not stopped! Law officials here are doing nothing which is just complete Bullxxxx. A lot of people are complaining.

Oh No. I hope Traveler is just steering clear until the raccoon is caught. If the only food source is inside that cage you'll get him. Tied the bait down, use thread, so he has to go in and work for it and he won't be able to reach thru and pull it out.

Good evening and hello to all! Happy Friday the 13th.........my lucky day, lol!
I guess I would feel right at home with temps in Pingtung. Pretty much our summer temps + . Actually, probably a better day in the summer as temps are usually 95 and up! I love, love the car washes! When Benny and Cayce were little it was soooo much fun. They would make a game out of it like we were in a hurricane or something. Now I take my grandson with me. At our local Earthwash one they have a rainbow wax type stuff that sprays on. All colors of the rainbow. Kaiden loves that! And it is quite pretty. Washing the car here in Florida seems to be a constant thing. Especially now with all the pollen. Since we do not use our garage for a garage, our cars are in the driveway and right now, always covered in the lovely yellow pollen.

Just laying low here tonight. Work week is done. Will pack tomorrow and get a few groceries for the boys to knosh on while we are gone, lol. Trust me, they miss their momma and cooking even for one night, lol! Ordered a pizza tonight from our new local pizza place. They are doing well and have not yet disappointed! Love supporting locals rather than chains!

Hope all enjoy the rest of Friday!

Jim did have a map of where Benjamin's apartment is on the phone Benj lent us, but sometimes people just get a little freaked out by us foreigners. Taiwan does not have a lot of immigrants and they also don't get a lot of tourists. When Benjamin, Jim and I walk down the street, we get A LOT of looks. Benjamin says that often times he'll speak Chinese to someone and they sort of zone out as they're totally not expecting a foreigner to know their language. The taxi driver did look totally taken back when we hopped in the car. We've been at restaurants and food stalls here in the past where the person behind the counter literally runs to find someone else to deal with us. LOLOL.

Linda, I have never been a 'ride' person ever. Ugh. :) Oh my goodness on the slaughter houses. That's pretty crazy. The article sounds like something out of a horror movie.

I hope Traveler has just backed off a bit as well while that raccoon has been hanging around Karen. Do let us know when you see him again. How long has it been?

I don't think I could actually function in 95F weather Kimmer. I woke up at 7 a.m. and it's already 27C outside. I think indeed it's a case of getting used to it but I don't want any part of that. LOL. I love going through car washes myself. I just have never done the driving through one. We get that rainbow coloured soap as well and it smells wonderful. Yum on pizza.

Benjamin brought home Korean beef and kimchi rice bowls (Jim and I shared one) and some shrimp cakes with Thai chili sauce for dinner last night on his way home from work. Both were awesome.

    Joce?

Ready player one was last months book club read. Not one I would have picked but it was good. Lots of 80s references. Now the book club is talking about going to see the movie.
I made flat bread pizza tonight 2 with my sauce and 2 with my boss nicks homemade pesto sauce that he gave me. I was so careful made the cheese ones first. Different slicers pans and plates and still somehow contaimenated. Becca had to take 2 benedryl. She had a reaction to the pine nuts. I feel bad. Frank says no more pesto in the house. We don’t need it.
