Friday's Funny!

Good Morning Everyone! Saw the meme below on FB this morning and it gave me a chuckle. It was entitled "Why you don't let your rabbit go shopping for carrots". LOLOL.

A chilly one this morning, -14C/6F but at least the sun is shining.

Is it today your company arrives Karen? How's Geezer this morning?

Shona...how are you and Colter feeling? I admire you for trying to get through the day with less pain medication but if I'm really hurting and don't have to I succumb.

Joce, did Den make out fine at his eye appointment? And what did you end up having at Maximillians?

Bren, did you hear back from the vet yet about Annie?

Gentle hugs Kimmer. Charlie is so lucky to have a family like yours.

I have no clue what to make for dinner this evening. The Hot Tub Repair guy is supposed to be here between 10-12. I have a prescription to pick up at Costco but could push it 'til tomorrow if I didn't feel like going in.

What's everyone else got going on today and on their menu?

    Hi Janet.

Love the bunny pictures! How cute. Yay on the hot tub repair! Enjoy!

6F is COLD! We did not have a real winter and with February temps in the 60's we probably won't! Not looking forward to fighting the ticks next summer. 66F today, 70F tomorrow. Yikes! Wonder if a March snowfall is in the future!

We have vacuuming to do and getting a few things picked up that could be harmful to our friend. They have a mentally challenged son who needs similar preparation, but we have been friends for years and pretty much have a routine for when they are here. We will have lunch at Slice of Pie in Rolla tomorrow, their favorite. Pot luck at church is on schedule but if it is too much for her we can grab a bite at McD....they are leaving right after lunch.

We hope to go to the gun range Tuesday if time permits. I esp. need to practice target shooting. It is out of the question for this weekend, of course.

Poor Fritz, Wayne accidentally dropped the handle of his retractable leash on his head and he was so scared. He is a sweet dog.

Geezer is not improved but also no worse. He was on the porch last night and A.C. was outside the window growling. I tossed him inside and medicated the wound again. It may be a bit better. Nature is a wonderful healer. If he gets worse, a trip to the vet may be necessary, but he is difficult to deal with, he panics when they try to touch him. Maybe get some liquid antibiotics to mix in his food.???? At least he lets me deal with the wound.

Today Show has a segment with pets up for adoption. We have too many to add another. Ha ha. But the tabby cat wit blue eyes is so cute!

    Have a wonderful day.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Temps dropped here too Janet. Last night's low was 49(f) but I welcome the cooler weather and love it.
When I was at Costco I picked up a package with two small eye roasts and made one yesterday. Used the linked recipe and it came out fantastic.
Tender Eye Of Round Roast Beef
Nothing planned for today. Need to place an order for vitamins and Bella has her vet appointment at 6:00 p.m. so it'll be an early dinner of leftovers and then off to the vet. Fingers crossed what ever is ailing her eye is an easy treatable problem.
DH did finally settle down and finished his therapy with his speech therapist. It gets hard and he gets discouraged but she is a wonderful therapist and really knows how to connect with her patients. She got the insurance company to approve 3 visits a week because he really needs it and I continue to work with him everyday too.

Nice picture of the owl veggie plate Janet. Happy to hear you had a pleasant time with your company yesterday.

Hoping you hear some good news today regarding Annie Bren.

Hoping too your days and pain are getting better Shona ... Colter's too. Keni's recipe for the chili you linked looked good. Joce had made her shirred egg recipe and it looked so good I made it too. Never had shirred eggs b4 and they were wonderful!

I'm happy Charlie is still with you Kimmer. Nothing wrong with letting him eat what he wants. I've had LD on table food supplemented with The Honest Kitchen and vitamins for the last 5 years and he is doing well. He eats everything we do (within reason ... proteins, veggies, fruit, some grains/rice/oatmeal). Everyday is a blessing and as long as he isn't in pain it's a good thing. Wishing you healing with your other family issues too.

This is Keni's recipe for Shirred Eggs. I have small ramekins and used 2 eggs per ramekin. Used chives, crumbled bacon, and a sprinkling of a blended cheese (colby and cheddar), a little salt and pepper. Very rich but truly delicious and company worthy! Shirred Eggs, My Way

Morning!! That bunny picture is so cute Janet, how funny :) Brrrrr..on your temps!

Good job at getting anything that could be dangerous picked up Karen. I need to read back to what happened to Geezer, but at least it’s not getting worse!

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Briauna yesterday :) I made cupcakes for her softball team and they came out beautiful, like I had bought them from a bakery! The piping I did with the frosting was excellent, not meaning to brag lol, but I was very proud of myself, usually they turn out pretty ugly :) We had a scrimmage until LATE last night. It was a 2 hour game and we lost, but we played really good and it was against a 14-16 yr old team, so we were still proud regardless. We were all very tired this morning though, so I can see us sleeping well tonight!

Tonight I am making Meat Balls For Lasagne but serving it over spaghetti with sauce. Not sure why it’s meatballs for lasagna?? I didn’t know lasagna could have meatballs in it? Lol, anyway, since I wasn’t able to do up a decent dinner last night because we were at the fields from 5p-10p I figure I’d do it tonight, and spaghetti and meatballs are Bri’s favorite. We do have batting practice, so we will have to eat somewhat early. Wishing everyone a wonderful Friday!!

    Good morning!

I am glad your guests enjoyed themselves yesterday, Janet. also good to hear you hot tub is being fixed today. In answer to your question. I had the Szekelly Crépe yesterday and it was very yummy. Den's eye appointment went well and for the first time ever his eyes have improved. He has been wearing glasses since he was eight years old. So now he is getting a new prescription and new frames. Expensive but eyes are important. Just the prescription is over $600.00! At least with modern technology they don't look like coke bottles anymore. Cute bunny pics!

I hope poor Geezer continues to get better. Good luck with your company.

I am glad the speech therapist is so wonderful, Linda and it is good he will have more sessions with him each week. I am happy you enjoyed the shirred eggs too! I hope all goes well for Bella at the Vet's this evening. I will take a look at that roast in a moment or two.

Hoping you and Colter are both comfortable today, Shona. It is great Pete is being a big help.

Yes, let Charlie eat what he wants, Kimmer.

We just finished MacDonald's for breakfast/brunch it is such a nice treat. Den is now settled in on the couch reading a book on his Kindle. I think it is just going to be a nice relaxing day here. Den will have rib eye steak for dinner with oven fries and I am having sauteed scallops with steamed asparagus and rice.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Oops! I missed you, Michelle! I am happy to hear the cupcakes came out so professional looking. Spaghetti and meatballs are always a hit around here. Lol I haven't been able to make them is such a long time b/c there is no room in our freezer1

Good luck with your company Karen. Hoping it's a peaceful and calm and fun visit for all. Also hoping that Geezer gets better on his own too.

I too love the bunny picture Janet! How could I not.

I'm not surprised to hear how beautiful the cupcakes turned out Michelle. With all the cooking you do I'm sure everything turns out wonderful.

Glad the eye appointment went well for Den Joce. I just ordered Astaxanthin for DH's eye health. Seems to be a lot of promising benefits, that and Gingko Biloba. Will probably take it myself.

Sounds like you have a nice itinerary lined up for your guests this weekend Karen. Glad to hear Geezer is doing okay this morning.

I made an Eye of round Roast not that long ago but found it fairly dry. It is a lean cut of meat. Glad you found a recipe to cook it nicely Linda. Did you use the heavy cream when you made Keni's shirred eggs? Glad DH made some headway with the Speech therapist yesterday. That's really good. And really good that the therapist is going to come three times a week and that you are working with him as well. Good Luck to Bella this afternoon.

Glad your cupcakes turned out well for you Michelle. Nice that you're making a favourite of Bri's for dinner this evening.

Oh my goodness I'm envious you had that Szekelly Crepe Joce. Like...REALLY envious. That's cool that Den's eyesight got better. :) And nice he got some new glasses. Yum on McDonald's. Love both your meals tonight.

Jim and I have decided to have Tenderloin steak with Lobster for dinner this evening. Yum. :) I think I'd like some asparagus as well.

JIm's on the phone with Bell Telephone ranting about the rates. LOL. I hate stuff like that and it's not worth it to me to get all riled up and call them but kudos to him and he does get results. He just got $5/month off for the next 11 months.

Of course I used heavy cream ... how can you not? That's why they were so rich and creamy.

Good afternoon everyone. I only have a few minutes as I have to go grocery shopping.
Gentle hugs Kimmer, I too would give Charlie whatever he would eat.
Love the pic Janet, so cute. Yea!!! that you hot tub is fixed.
You sound so organized Karen. Ouch...those extendable leases are hard and hurt. Good luck with Geezer.
I've never had any luck with eye of round, Linda. Like Janet mine is always dry. That's fantastic that you get more visits for DH.
You remind me of myself Michelle, I'm always surprised when something works out well. Congrats!! A belated Happy Birthday to Bri. It's my understanding that people in northern Italy put meatballs in their lasagna, more the size of small marbles though.
I too envy you the crepe Joce. That's great the Den's eyes have improved and yes, glasses are very expensive.
I hope that you and Colter are feeling better today, Shona.
Well, the Vet called and Annie needs to have both of her hind legs repaired. I forgot to ask if they have laser surgery as it was a lot of info to absorb. Gotta run.

It must be pets time to be in the O.D.D. Hey are our fur babies, I guess.

Glad Den had a good eye report, Joce! My glasses run close to $600, but I like Virilux lenses.

Michelle, you amaze me with the amount of crafty things you do and still have energy left. My cupcakes are edible but never pretty. LOL!

I prefer cooler weather also, Linda. Florida and I are not compatible, I guess.

Hi Bren Wayne felt terrible and Fritz just cowered! I think he may have a history of misuse somewhere, not severe but just the way he acts sometimes. We love him in spite of himself.

House is vacuumed and the Japa nest beetles are vacuumed also....it seems to be the right time of year for them to sneak inside.

Eye of round sound great, Linda. I use heavy cream in many dishes. The taste is so much better and sauces so much creamier. Skim milk tastes like glorified water.

Organization is not my strength. Ha ha. A quick shower, and maybe baking a coffee cake for Sunday breakfast, is on the agenda today. Oh, yes, maybe dusting! Best start or company will find me in my pj's.

The eye round roast wasn't dry at all. When I turned the oven off I thought it wasn't going to cook enough but it did and the juices stayed in too.

Oh no Bren. So sorry to hear Annie has to have surgery. Will they do both legs at the same time? How old is Annie? Prayers that it all works out. It's always so scary.

LOL @ the heavy cream Linda. If Jim saw the container he wouldn't eat the eggs. :( Was hoping I could sub it with something lighter.

Marble sized meatballs in Italian lasagna you say Bren. I'd try it. :) Oh poor Annie. :( How old is she? Are they doing it today?

I've never heard of a Japa nest beetle Karen. Skim milk does taste like glorified water but we've gotten used to it. When we have 2% on the rare occasion it tastes SO creamy in comparison. LOL. Coffee cake sounds lovely.

Ran into Costco and got my prescription. It was CRAZY busy. Guess because it is the Friday of the four day long weekend. Family Day Monday. Stopped at Farm Boy as well. They had nice sized rainbow trout on sale for $5/each. I bought two.

Fritz probably has a huge headache, Karen, poor baby. We get Japanese beetles but I've never seen them in the house.
They can only do one knee at a time is what I understand and Annie is 5.
Meatballs in lasagna are wonderful Janet but very time consuming. There usually isn't a special recipe, just the usual but smaller and for special occasions. I love rainbow trout and there's a new Farm Boy really close by, hmm I'll pop in on the weekend, thanks.

I would think something lighter than heavy cream could be used but then again I'm not sure. Maybe it was stay to thin/runny? Someone with more experience will hopefully add their opinion.
Yum on the coffee cake Karen! I haven't baked one in forever, sure sounds nice with a cup of coffee.

LOL on Japan nest beetles! My iPad is self correcting again and I didn't catch the substitution. Crazy technology.

Wayne won't touch 2% milk either. We buy raw milk from the farmer or use heavy cream in our coffee. If I could find unpasteurized, raw cream I would buy it. I have to be careful
Not to drink store milk, and limit even the raw, or I make very bad company..ha ha.

Japanese beetles resemble ladybugs Janet, but they bite and smell if you stomp on one. Usually in the fall they sneak in through any available crack or space,.we have swept up hundreds at a time. Will have to spray for the rotten little bugs after company leaves do we can air out the sun room. We have an old farm house, built in 1950, and it is not nearly as snug as modern construction. I have sprayed for bugs around windows and doors, which helped. At least they were dead after coming inside.

I am crossing my fingers a mouse doesn't decide to come inside while they are visiting. She saw one in her house and made him pitch all the canned food in their pantry because she said mice had "contaminated" it.

Better give Wayne a heads up. He has to get a shower and is working in the barn at the moment.

Again, poor Annie. Makes sense that they'd only do one knee at a time alright Bren. Is she at home now or still at the Vet's?

Put Fritz and the cats on high mouse alert Karen. :)

Thanks for the info on the roast Linda. That cut of beef goes on sale on a regular basis here and I'll give it a try.
LOL Karen, sometimes self correct is worse than what we actually write. Fingers crossed that there isn't a mouse.
Thanks Janet, yes she's with us. She's on Metacam to reduce the swelling and help with the pain. She's frustrated because we usually run her for at least an hour a day and we can only leash walk her for 30 mins.
Dinner was leftover stew and I really enjoyed it. It was nice to not have to cook after a long week.

Spaghetti sauce is simmering. They texted they would be later. Sigh. She and the son decided they was hungry so an hour after breakfast he had to stop so they could eat. He has amazing patience with her.

I am sitting down finally. Trouble is on my lap, happily shedding little black kitty hairs over my blouse so I have to locate the lint remover before finishing the spaghetti and garlic bread. Fritz is being an active little beast and has been yelled at twice for growling at the cats. He is play growling but they don't know that.

We opened windows today and I love the fresh feeling inside. Tomorrow will be warmer. Nice Spring rather .... in the middle of a February!

See you later. Have a nice day.
