Frolicky Friday!

  • chuckieb 8 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! I have a most lovely day to look forward to. Just going to go over my grocery list and make sure I've got everything I need for the weekend and then head into town. I've ordered up a big bouquet of flowers to put in my front entranceway so I'll go to my girlfriend's shop to pick those up in addition to a couple of other little errands. Will probably bring back something for our lunch.
Will also decorate the dining room table today. My favourite job. :) I think I'll prune a couple of branches off of an oak tree and I have some cute bird candle holders I can nestle amongst the leaves.
It's supposed to thunder storm this afternoon. Glad I got all the mowing done yesterday.
Was watching Anthony Bourdain on "No Reservations" last night and he was in the Ozarks Karen. They were eating squirrel and coon and duck. I had to turn my head away. Coon and Squirrel are not something I'm accustomed to and I have a lot of squirrel friends. :)I do like duck. Anthony was showing them how to cook it properly and they looked like they had died and gone to heaven.
Our guests are showing up around 8 p.m. I think. I'm going to BBQ some chicken thighs for dinner with a potato salad on the side and maybe some grilled veggies. Easy peasy.
Wishing everyone a most excellent Friday.

Sounds like you have a nice, but busy day ahead of you today Janet! I wish I had your decorating knack :) I've seen Anthony Bourdain's show a few times, something similar I really like Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmerman. Have fun entertaining! Adorable pics :)

This morning is my cousins graduation. It's about 30 minutes away and supposed to be about 3 hours long (ouch) so I'm skipping that because I don't believe Caiden could handle it, plus I'd be doing it alone since Michaels working BUT I am meeting everyone for lunch afterwords. I think it's a Mexican food restaurant? Not sure what dinner is, probably leftover fajitas from last night. Gotta get ready, wishing everyone a great day!!

Love the frolicking pictures! lol, Yeah, squirrel and coon do not sound appetizing! Sounds like a wonderful evening Janet :)
Almost two days of rain and the grass sprung up past my ankles! It's now warm and sunny, perfect day to fire up the grill. We're making bbq chicken pizza on the grill. I am going to use the bbq sauce I received from the Missing Ingredient box. I don't usually like bbq flavored pizza, so we'll see how it goes, I'll have a back-up pizza, lol! http://allrecipes.com/recipe/barbeque-chicken-grilled-pizza/detail.aspx
I wouldn't want to sit through 3 hours of graduation with Sophia either, Michelle! She couldn't even wait ten minutes in the doctors office yesterday, she drives me nuts sometimes, lol ;) Enjoy your lunch out!
Both kids are at school today!!! The doctor checked Sophia and noted the low grade fever, she's had it for four days. Everything else looked good,(ears, throat, etc.) He said it is most likely a parvo virus or 5th's disease that has been going around. He said once the fever breaks she'll be fine. Well her fever broke about midnight, I checked on her and she was soaked with sweat, and her fever was gone! She woke up bright as daisy's without a pain anywhere, so I let her go to school! Funny how quickly these things come and go in kids!
Not sure what I'll do with myself today, but I'm enjoying the peace and quiet this morning. Have a great today everyone!

I've never heard of Andrew Zimmern before. Googled him and I don't recognize him either. Have fun at lunch with your family. Is it a high school graduation? There's no way you could expect a little person to sit through that for sure! How was Bri's end of school party?
Pizza night sounds fun Shona. Super glad to hear Sophia's fever broke and she's feeling better.
I had a good run into town and got everything I needed and more. :) Just made Hot dogs for lunch and now I'm about to make
    Poor Mans Caviar
to have on hand when our company arrives tonight. I'm also going to put the chickens in the brine overnight for dinner tomorrow evening.
    Lemon Rosemary Brined Roast Chicken
Roasting some beets and some potatoes in order to prep for tomorrow as well. Have to make up the potato salad for Jim and I for this evening too.
    Better get moving.

Hi. Just back from the PX. Wayne's buddy wanted to get a laptop so he and Wayne did the shopping and then we bought some stuff we had not come in to look for at all.

Too bad we missed the coon cooking, Janet. I have not had coon or squirrel or possum or groundhog or .......sounds interesting.

    Hi Michelle and Shona.

We had lunch at Church's Chicken ... Wayne had a Burger King burger. They are in the same building, with one big eating area. His buddy and I chowed down on fried chicken!
His buddy is setting up his laptop, and the two are happy as could be.

Sounds like you've had a busy but fun day Karen! I'd go for some fried chicken myself. Haven't had it in ages.
I want to make Laura's Lemon Pepper seasoning too Shona. As I mentioned to her, I paid $7.95 for a pkg. from the Farmer's Market last week. (It is a fairly large pkg. plus I really like the fellow who runs the booth so do like to support local people). I hope you do try the Lemon Brined Chicken recipe. It's the best brined recipe I've had yet. I could do with an empty fridge. Keep thinking of Joce with her spare fridge and boy could I ever use that about now. Trying to stuff both beverages for the weekend and prepped food in one fridge is like a puzzle.

Hello from Fiji - it is 10 am Saturday here so I am taking a break from unpacking and heading to the market to get some things for the coming week. Definitely not squirrel or coon though! I am not sure I would be adventurous enough to try those even if they were available, just because I have grown up not thinking of them as food.
Janet your decorating and meal plans for your company sound wonderful. Have a great time!
They had a last minute cancellation in the cooking class so I am in. It starts at 4:00 tomorrow so I am looking forward to that.
I am presenting at a forum next week and the information says the dress code is "bula wear". That means I have to go shopping today because I definitely do not own bula wear - business, business casual and casual, no problem but bula wear is unique lol. I hope I can find something I like for a reasonable cost.
    Enjoy Friday evening,
    Michelle B

I got fifths disease which I believe is the same thing as parvo virus as an adult when I was a substitute teacher. Not fun as the symptoms are totally different the only reason my doctor figured it out because it was going around but the symptoms are extreme fatigue muscle and joint pain, I couldn't even get out of bed. So hope you don't catch it!
Dinner is leftovers. Both girls are out with friends.

Yes, that's what my doctor said too Laurie. He said if you or your husband get any joint pain, sore knees etc.. then you'll know it's the parvo virus! Gosh, I didn't know it was that bad, yikes! I hope we don't catch it! Sophia hasn't developed a rash yet, he said it might take a few days after the fever stops, so we'll see.

I imagine you were quite pleased to see all your stuff arrive Michelle B.! Do you have it all now? SO awesome you got into that cooking class. CAN'T WAIT to hear what you learn. I had no clue what Bula wear was so googled it. Should be pretty easy (and comfy). Do they sell clothing in the Markets? How are the prices of clothing? (Better than soya sauce?)
5th's Disease Laurie? Never heard of it. So did the Dr. give you antibiotics? How long have you felt bad? Feel better. Rest up and take it good and easy.
Guests just called and they're running late. Which is just fine as I'm still cooking Jim's and my dinner on the BBQ.

All is quiet. Kitties are in the LR. We had a T-storm last night which dumped .83 inches of rain. Grass is too wet to mow and we are going to an auction tomorrow. I'm hoping it is a short one. Wayne is eying a road grater and I am hoping it goes for much more than he has available. It is an older one.He and his buddy are antsy to try it. His buddy has driven them in the Navy, so I am sure he will show the correct way. I will not attempt to climb into the seat, much less drive it. Joy joy joy.

The lemon pepper seasoning purchase sounds good, Janet.

Michelle B., I will Google Bula also. Am sure I don't own any - ha ha - would have to buy, also.

    Enjoy your quiet night, Laurie.

Hi Shona and anyone I missed.

They call it fifths disease because it's the fifth disease children get or something like that but it is parvo virus. They do not give antibiotics for a virus but I was sick for a few weeks before it was finally figured out. They tested me for mono and everything else. But it was such a relief at that point to just get it diagnosed because I thought I was going crazy. It just had to run its course which I think was another week.
