Holy Kamoly it's been a busy week. Talk about time flying. Wow!
Gorgeous sunny morning on my end and those in warmer climes will envy our temperature.....18C/64F. Will warm up as the day goes on.
I'm happily feeling on top of things. The yard looks good with the exception of a mass of oak leaves and branches I have to go clean up. The squirrels are going to town on the acorns and are making a lot of work for me. :) My new lettuce plants appear to be settling in and I've been getting a lovely bowl-full of tomatoes from the garden each day.
Jim is leaving work early this afternoon and we are driving to the Niagara region for the Long Weekend. Labour Day Holiday Monday. We'll probably get there around 10:30 this evening. Will stay at Jim's brother's and want to take in some wineries and buy a basket of fresh Niagara peaches. We'll come home Monday. At this point I'm not planning on bringing my computer with me so you'll all get a break from my banter for a few days. :)
I had a lovely afternoon with my Girlfriend and she LOVED our lunch and the Hot Tub. She left just after 4 p.m. and then I headed to Costco for bird seed and then picked up Jim at the Park 'n ride. Got a fantastic deal on Game Hens at the grocery store yesterday and only paid between $4.35 - $5 for each one. I bought six. :)
Michelle, I've been looking for parmesan rind ever since you said you'd put it in the Meatball soup but I haven't found any yet. Boo. :) You are going to have your hands full (buy don't you always on a regular basis anyway!) :) with Bri in dance/tumbling and Girl Scouts.
Thanks for the laptop info Karen. I too am not computer savvy in knowing all the different specs. How's Wayne feeling this morning? I loved the sound of your chicken dinner last night. I adore Campbell's soups. Mushroom is my fave and I use it in a fair amount of recipes. I wish they'd really lower the darn sodium on them though. Even their low sodium ones are high sodium. :)
Hurray on the Market Basket news Laurie. So glad it's finally over and I'm not even affected! The employees must be ecstatic! How was your big Family reunion dinner?
Do did you end up going to the ER Tina? Good Luck with your MRI.
    I made Pat's
    Oven Fried Panko Chicken
for dinner last night along with some beets and a citrus vinaigrette and some tomatoes with black lava sea salt and balsamic reduction.
Right now I have some b/s chicken thighs marinating in coconut milk, soya sauce, sesame oil, sriracha and spices. I'm going to cook them up on skewers later to bring in the car for an 'on the move dinner'. I bought some Nacho scoops and a container of Nacho dip (cheese, salsa, sour cream, etc.) and will pack some cherry tomatoes and plums. Will think if there's anything else I can throw in throughout the day.
    Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning!! Thanks for checking in Tina, glad to hear your OK!

So glad to hear your garden is doing good! That is so cool that you can grow tomatoes and lettuce at the same time! Here it's strictly tomatoes in the Spring, lettuce in the Winter. Sounds like your going to have a fun holiday weekend! I have never been to a winery even though there is one right here in Santa Fe lol! The 2 times we have thought about going they were closed for weddings. Score on the game hens :) I got my huge block of parmesan reggiano from Sam's. You have a Costco right? They should have some! Yum on your dinner last night and yum on your on the go food too! Have a good drive!!

Busy day ahead of me! I have a bunch of errands to run and I still have to pack the kids bags for Grandmas. I need to do a little spiffy-ing up before my Mom get's here too :) Dinner tonight will be http://www.paleonewbie.com/recipe-entree/paleo-taco-pie-recipe/
Trying to decide if I should do them in single served ramekins or one big pie dish. May throw together a Paleo dessert too :) Have a great day everyone!!

They poked me so full of holes for the contrast that I think I might leak at the seams today.
Even with an open MRI, lying completely still for an hour was constricting. I did go to my eye doctor for a pressure check. I just hope we get some answers this time around. I spent yesterday on complete Dr, ordered bed rest

I never got my celery vinaigrette made, so I'll try that tonight. We have to get a new faucet and hosing. Never saw such a mess under the sink. The water supply hose rotted through the mesh netting. I'm ordering doors to replace the ones Charlie destroyed. House repairs never end, do they?

Have a wonderful trip to Niagara. Your food on the move sounds delicious. Janet, I love your banter. I will miss your sunny self. I have a hunk of parmesan that is almost down to the rind. Too bad I couldn't just mail it to you.

Michelle, spiffy up. I need to do that too. There is another dust bunny to rival all dust bunnies under the drop leaf next to the dog dishes. I just cant get the swiffer between the legs. Fred has to move the table for me. I hope your paleo taco turns out well.

To everyone else, have a fabulous start to your weekend. I've been ordered to rest. So I will.

Morning Michelle! Lettuce in the winter and tomatoes in the spring. Are your springs too warm that you can't grow the lettuce then? Since we only have warm enough weather to grow any garden produce in Ottawa between June-Sept. we grow everything all at once. :) I can easily find Parmiggiano Reggiano in the grocery stores but a couple of months back my Sobey's had a fairly large quantity of just the rinds for sale in a clear plastic deli container. And they were priced substantially lower than the price of the cheese itself. I saw them then and was intrigued but wasn't sure at the time why I would buy them. And then when you said about throwing the rinds in soup, well.....now I knew! :) I forget...are the kids spending the weekend with your Mom again? That Taco Pie looks yummy. I think entrees served in single serving ramekins are really cute. I got myself some little covered ones a couple of years ago but really haven't used them much. On my list! And of course you should make a dessert. Desserts just make a day better. :)

SP Tina. Glad you made it through the MRI and yes, I certainly hope that you get some answers this time. No, house repairs never, ever end. LOL @ mailing me parmesan rind. Nice thought. Don't think the Postman would appreciate the smell of the package though would he/she? :) Rest up GF.

I thought the smell would be rather a turn-off in the mail.....and it would probably be crumbles, too. LOL

Fred and I are at odds on the interior doors. I want six panel and he wants slab. Why can't it be easy to order something just once without a quibble? I shall retreat to my boudoir and brood in dark silence.

Glad your tests went O.K., Tina. You need to listen to the Dr. and get your rest. I don't think you will be leaking from all the shots, but you probably feel like it. I have to go get after lunch fixins - hungry dudes.

Great to hear you are O.K. Tina and you survived yet another MRI:) My goodness I have been so worried about you! A Vascular Guy I hope will be able to find and fix the source of the pain your leg pain. Maybe you might need Angioplasty Surgery, to to widen an artery to get more circulation to your legs etc.? I know I am going to need one, one of these days as almost everyone in my family has had one done. Keep us updated when you can please and yes do get some rest. Yup housework and house repairs never seem to end.

Janet, Have a wonderful weekend in the Niagara Region. I don't envy that long drive, and having to battle your way through Toronto though, especially at the beginning of the long weekend :( You can find Parmesan Rind anywhere. I have a feeling you are a bit confused about it? When you buy Parmesan Reggiano cheese and grate it and use most of it up. Then you can also use the hard outside rind, in things like soups and sauces like Michelle mentioned before. I sometimes see the rinds sold in little packages, but for what you get out of them it isn't really worth buying them like that. Very wise to make little nibbles for your trip. Then you aren't forced to stop at some of the crappy Hwy food franchises on the way. LOL Except for pit stops:) Sending very smooth safe travels to you. It will be fun to hear all about your adventures when you get back:)

Michelle, We only have one season to grow any veggies and it is all or nothing for us. Once the frost comes we are totally out of luck as far as that is concerned. The rest of the year we rely on Greenhouse grown veggies which comes mostly from the area in South Ontario where Janet will be headed to today. Other veggies and fruits are also imported when they are in season, most of the year from the US, Chile, Mexico, Spain and other places for us in the Fall, Winter and Spring. It is so much better now from when I was a kid. In the winter we had mostly canned veggies or carrots. Believe it or not they were just coming out with some frozen veggies here or they were too expensive and not very good! LOL Swanson TV Dinners (YUCK!) came out in 1954 for 98 cents! I did like them however, when I was a kid! Probably b/c they were a novelty. The Taco Pie looks like it would be very good. I pinned it as well. I am sure the kids will have fun at Grandmas and enjoy your Adult time this weekend before you are run off your feet next week:)

Marie, How is Lennon doing today?

Karen, That possum looks like an ugly ol rat! I had no idea they carried such awful diseases either! On the other hand the banana bread looks delicious! I assure you it would not last long here:) My son was a picky eater like your grandson when he was about his age. All he would eat for which seemed like eons to me, was peanut butter, hotdogs and ketchup! Now he eats a very far cry from that! LOL I don't think there is very much he will not eat now:) He even likes very extremely hot spicy food!
Laurie, Super News about the Market Basket! Hurray for Artie T! I found this article and everyone is feeling like it is Christmas! I am delighted for them:) http://westford.wickedlocal.com/article/20140828/NEWS/140826566

Shona, If indeed today is your moving day? The very best of luck with it:) Please let us know how you and your family are doing when you can.

I am not feeling the greatest. I haven't slept much in the past few days. All my bones ache and no meds seem to ease the pain. My arms, legs and feet are burning screaming yelling along with tummy etc. problems. I did make the spaghetti sauce yesterday and we had it for dinner. Now leftovers are in a pot is in the extra fridge just to add extra flavour before I divide and freeze the rest up. Den will have his normal fare of a BBQed rib eye steak and oven fries and for me it will have to be something very bland.
OMG! I can't believe it is already almost 1:00 P.M.! I must be really in a daze?

Happy TGIF and Long Weekend to everyone!

It is absolutely normal for husband and wife to disagree on a wide range of topics including door styles Tina! :) Jim and I hung a painting a couple of days ago and even that easy task did not go without grumbles on both sides. LOLOLOL.
Ya, I'm not keen on the drive to St. Catharines myself Joce, especially on a holiday weekend. And a wee little part of me says I should offer to help drive but a big major part of me says "Are you nuts?". LOL.I used to like TV dinners when I was a kid too but again I agree that they were certainly a novelty. Now I can't stand them. Sorry to hear you haven't been sleeping well and that you're hurting. Your spaghetti sauce sounds wonderful. Haven't had spaghetti in ages.

Tina - I concur with Janet.
Wayne is - and admits this - not a visual person and when I describe what I have in mind for household decoration. He usually goes along with my ideas on that subject (kitchen as an example) and often ends up liking it. But there are some things he hates so I don't push. Good luck on figuring out the door style. Either would be nice, I'm sure.
Janet - enjoy Niagara Falls area. It has been years since we were there, and really liked the Canadian side better - it looked as tho they manicured the grass with nail clippers!
Joce - hope you feel better.
All - have a nice weekend.

Janet, I think Swanson TV Dinners used to have real meat in them back then. Not the pressed processed stuff and there was more food in them back then. I do recall I liked the turkey one the best and and it had real turkey in it and the little dessert treat was a fun treat as a kid. My Mom would clean and save the metal trays they came in and use them to freeze other meals. LOL Now I bet they come in those plastic card boardie trays
for the micro etc. now as they taste like cardboard anyhow:) OMG! I am getting old!
I used to wonder what my Grandmother thought of new inventions. She grew up on a farm with no electricity and scrubbed clothes with a washboard. They cooked on a wood stove all year round! Imagine doing that all summer? An icebox was really an icebox too:) She lived with us after my Grandfather passed away in the late 1940's and in 1969, when we all watch the landing on the moon in July. I always wondered if she thought it was really happening?

Bye Everybody. Jim just called and is heading out even earlier so I'm rushing around getting the cooler packed, etc.
I remember a Roast Beef Swanson dinner that I liked and I think I liked the Turkey one too Joce. There was some sort of cherry or apple crisp as dessert that was really good. Gravy and mashed potatoes. If there was a veggie I probably didn't eat it anyway. :)
Have an awesome weekend everybody and Tina please take care and rest. See ya' Monday with bells on! :)

Ugghh on all your pokes at the doctor today Tina :( Lol at mailing a stinky paremsan rind :P I'm with you on the 6 paneled doors!

I know Janet won't probably read this but this is how we plant year around that seems to work for our stupid weather: The end of October we plant our Winter garden (lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbages. Then we pull that all up in March, then have our Spring/summer garden in by the end of March (tomatoes, zukes, green beans, eggplant, peppers). Now we have FULL sun on our garden, no shade at all. I think if we had shade we could get our summer garden to last longer, it seems to die off way to quick. I KNOW I want some sort of little green house when we build on our land :)

Joce, I have never had Swanson freezer meals, they sound awful!! The only freezer meals I have eaten and actually they are pretty good are the Lean Cuisines, BUT I only eat certain ones, and avoid any with meat. They have great vegetable option ones. Like butternut squash ravioli and a veggie eggroll with vegetable rice. And their Spring rolls are so good lol! I hope you start to feel better soon :(

Hi Karen! Michael just sits back and let's me pick out everything. I don't think he cares honestly lol! Plus a happy wife is a happy life :)

Bye Janet, have fun, so not jealous of your car ride btw :P

Phew got everything done and even got http://www.paleocupboard.com/brownies.html in the oven!! They smell so good! Mom's on her way, Caiden fell asleep on the floor and it's quiet in here lol!

Supper is over. Dishes are in DW. Wayne cleaned the top of the stove - he does seem to be able to de-streak the surface better than me. We need to try some different cleaners to find one that does best. So far the counter top does well when I use Windex all surface cleaner. But I would like to look around, esp. for the more eco-friendly brands. Time will tell.

Well - this is Labor Day weekend - but with Wayne's back out we won't be grilling. We took the gator up to get the mail, and he did pretty good except for a couple of rocks that got in the way. Homer followed part way, then looked woeful when he slowly came back. So I hoisted his 73 lb. body into the gator on the floor, crawled in to the seat and put one foot behind his rear so he didn't slide out. He was not impressed, but just could not keep up. Next time we will put him inside the house - he is too old to make the trek.

A.C. is meowing and fussing - he runs to his dish, looks ate the cat-healthy brand of cat food in it, and cries. He wants the old, non-healthy, full of artificial flavor and dyes, full of grain and fillers, brand. i guess I will empty and clean his dish, give the remainder to the outside cats (they are much less picky) and put some fresh food in. I will win this skirmish. He WILL give in to my choices. He is a bum!

Whoever sent wishes for rain here - wish a bit harder, please. We did get a tenth of an inch, enough to dampen things. There are some showers here and there, but it is still awfully dry.

    Hi to everyone.
