Fun Friday!

Good Morning everyone! Here's to a "Fun Friday"! Jim and I are heading out in an hour and a half or so. Not looking forward to that many hours in the car, but....

0C here this morning/32F. A little chilly. Waiting on the guy to deliver our wood pellets. Have to do a run to Costco on the way out. Forgot I needed a prescription when we were there yesterday. :(

Also forgot to tell you a hilarious "One ingredient short Fairy story" from the other night. Came home from our jaunt up into the Gatineau Hills, warming up the Hot Turkey mixture on the stove and all of a sudden I remember that we used up the last two pieces of bread at breakfast time. Hot Turkey with no bread? Gasp! Luckily I had a couple very nice sesame seed hot dog buns up in the freezer that I was able to quickly defrost in the microwave. Phew.

I tend to agree with you Kimmer, saying that no matter what you make, a kid at someone else's house will not like it. That's why I hate to make up a goulash or ground beef with tomato sauce and noodles because they very well may not like my noodles or my sauce, etc. And then it would all go to waste! LOL @ Cayce critiquing the host's recipes. LOLOLOL. That's funny. Yum on Chinese take out last night.

How was your Birthday dinner Karen?

Did you get much rain yesterday Joce?

What did you get to eat after Kenpo class last night Linda?

How did you and your Mom make out with all your sports activities last night Michelle?

How much snow did you get last night Shona?

Am making egg salad sandwiches to eat on the way as we hate stopping in to those "Enroute" fast food places along the highway. We want to try arrive in Toronto before rush hour is in full swing.

Hoping to stop into this cool shop called "Pepper Palace" when we are in Niagara. Jim's cousin had given us a jar of Jalopeno relish that they bought from there and we are now addicted to it so need to replenish. It's amazing on fish tacos.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Good Morning Everyone! and Happy FRIDAY.

Travel Safe Janet and enjoy your trip ... looking forward to hearing more about it along the way. Brrrr, it is cold up your way. We've been waking to temps in the low 70s(f) with it warming up to mid 80s and we are thrilled to be relieved of the oppressive heat. Nice save on the hot turkey sandwiches finding some rolls in the freezer.

I've been playing in my imaginary soap shop the last few days now that I renamed it and have been working on a label and packaging that I think I finally am happy with. I no sooner finalize one thing then realize what a PIA it is to work with then look to do something else. I ordered perforated bags to put my soap in so it can continue to breath and too so someone can smell it, made a label that I will insert in the front and one for the back noting the ingredients, and will then tie it with a pretty ribbon. All easy enough to work, looks nice, and is cost efficient ... phew! I'll take a picture and post once the bags come in and I do my thing then I'll ship what I recently made to my friend. Maybe one day I'll actually do this for real. LOL!!

No plans as of yet for today. What's everyone else up to?

Thanks Linda! Your soap shop sounds just lovely!

Wood pellet guy showed up just as I put breakfast on the table. Of course! But if I hadn't proceeded with breakfast he wouldn't have shown up, so it all works out. LOL! We'd hoped to head out by 10 but that won't quite happen!

Good morning! The storm was pushed from over night to this morning, so it just starting coming down in half ice pellets--half snow. I opened the door and said "nope, not driving in this" So I told the kids to go back to bed and they are happily sleeping! I'll phone the schools with some excuse in a bit....All the School busses are cancelled but the schools are still open. It looks like we're going to get most of an ice storm, and just north of us is getting all the snow. But this ice is worse to drive in!
The 'one ingredient short fairy' visited me yesterday too! I had some very ripe bananas to use up, so I decided to make banana bread. I creamed the butter and sugar first, got the oven preheated and pan greased. Then, go to get the flour---and NO flour! Lol...I forgot I used the last of the flour on the pumpkin cake and forgot to put it on my grocery list! I put the creamed mixture in the fridge, and asked Pete to pick me up some flour. I let it come back to room temperature and then finally baked the bread late last night, lol ;) It's funny because I almost always mix the dry ingredients first, or at least get out all my ingredients first! Silly me.

I hope you have a wonderful trip to the Niagara region Janet! I hope you get to the Pepper Palace too :) Safe travels!

Hi Linda, your 'soap shop' sounds like so much fun!! If you didn't live so far away I would totally buy soap from you! Can't wait to see the finished products and what name you picked out :)

I'm hoping to get the lasagna soup made for dinner tonight. I also got Pete to get me ingredients for a chili as well, so I might change my mind, lol...we'll see! I guess we're hunkering in and staying home today. I have lot's of cleaning and organizing to do around the house anyways.

    Have a great day everyone!

    God morning.

Dinner was very nice. Spinach artichoke dip, medium rare top sirloin, loaded baked potato, salad, glass of chardenae savenaux (? Sp) wine. Too stuffed for dessert.

Picked the ripe tomatoes from the garden. Was going to fix tomato cheese pie but the sliced cheese wen moldy.....had to pitch it. I will try using shredded instead. The guys should like it for lunch...or toasted tomato..cheese..ham sandwiches using shredded???.

    Enjoy your trip, Janet!

Boo on the ice storm, Shona. I would not drive in it either!

I would happily buy soaps from you if we lived closer, Linda!

Talking a trip to Florida next fall...RVing it of course. Still talk, you know how that goes. It would be in the fall since hot weather is not my thing.

Best go. Canning and cleaning litter boxes is on the agenda after letting Trouble back inside. Goofy cat can't make up her mind.

    Have a nice day.

Thanks for the confidence in my soaps and thanks too for listening to me ramble on about my venture ... just doing it for fun now and it is fun. I would have to look into the laws and insurance if I ever did sell it. In today's world it's wise to cautious.

Yuk on your stormy wintery mix of bad weather Shona. Glad you have everything you need to stay indoors and not have to venture out. Oh no! on not having any flour in house though to make your banana bread. Do you bake more when the weather is cold? How are you liking your kitchen redesign?

Happy to hear you had a wonderful bday Karen and the meal sounds fabulous! You just may have to do it again, aren't bdays celebrated all weekend (LOL!). If you need any feedback on areas in SWFL I may be familiar with some.

    Hi Linda.
We are still in the discussion mode. With us that may take eons! I have a friend near Orlando area and may swing South. Harry Potter Land is calling, we would not be interested in rides but the rest sounds cool.

    Happy belated Birthday, Karen.

Lol, Lol, Janet. Hot turkey sandwich with no bread. I'm sure that we've all had a similar experience. Now, if you had waited for the wood pellet guy to show up before preparing breakfast he wouldn't have come until later. Safe travels!!

Your soap packaging sounds nice Linda. I look forward to seeing a pic.

Yuck on the ice storm, Shona. I hate driving in freezing rain. There's always lots to do around the house isn't there. Too funny that the fairy visited you too!!

Your dinner sounds lovely, Karen. The planning part of the best part for me.

I am trying to clear the freezer in the kitchen out and found some frozen burgers and buns so that will be dinner with a salad. The electrician was through, yesterday. He was pleased that the kitchen is over an unfinished furnace room and the garage.
The children gave us a weekend away at a spa in Lake Placid as an anniversary gift. We'll probably wait until spring.

    Well Happy Anniversary Bren!! Congratulations!

If no bread hot turkey or hot beef is always good over a baked potato or even wide egg noodles.

DH wanted to go out for Pizza tonight so I didn't argue. Got ready, packed the dog up to come with us and when we got there they had no seating in the outside area because a party was going to be taking it up. DRATS!! So back in the car and we went to one of our stand byes and still had a great meal even though it wasn't pizza.

Super wise to stay home Shona. No sense endangering anybody just to go to school when a ton of students won't be able to make it there anyway! That rotten "One Ingredient Fairy" eh! :) LOL. Chili is on my short list!

I'd totally buy soap from you as well Linda if you lived closer! :) And I think we all enjoy hearing about your venture. You are not rambling. ) That's a fantastic idea really about hot turkey over baked potatoes or noodles. I wouldn't have even thought about that.

NICE BIRTHDAY DINNER Karen! Wow! Cool that you're planning a trip to Florida next year! I've never been.

Burgers sounded wonderful Bren. What a lovely anniversary present from your children! Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby! We've driven through Lake Placid a couple of times. It's such a beautiful area.

We hit traffic in Toronto so didn't reach our destination 'til just after 5 p.m. We had pork ribs with salad for dinner with a chocolate bundt cake for dessert as it was Jim's cousin's wife's father's (LOLOLOLOLOL) 88th birthday today. Cool eh!

Tomorrow will be busy. I think we're going to go watch one of the girl's soccer? games after breakfast, then family pictures are scheduled in a park for early afternoon, appetizers at my niece's kicking off the birthday celebration and then dinner at 6 p.m.

Relaxing now with a glass of wine. Funny how tired you can get from riding in a car. :)

    Sleep sweet Kimmer!

Thank you Linda and Janet. It was our 30th and our honeymoon was in Lake Placid.

I would so buy your soap too, Linda and love hearing about how you make it. I wouldn't argue about going out for pizza either, grr that it was too busy. My ginger is still not coming up, sigh.

The traffic in To is horrid, Janet, especially during rush hour. At least you reached your destination in time for dinner. Mmmm, your dinner sounds wonderful. Happy Birthday to Jim's cousin's wife's father. That's a mouthful, lol lol lol. I find driving exhausting even though I usually don't do the driving. After an hour I've had enough and my back is painful. Enjoy your wine!!

30 years is really awesome Bren. Again, Congrats! Honeymoon in Lake Placid. Very cool. I drove from our place as far as Belleville, the quiet stretch :) and then Jim drove from there to Niagara (the hard part) But we were just talking about it a moment ago and I said "How come I am SO tired from just sitting in the car the entire day"????
