Happy Canada Day July 1st!

Good Morning Everyone! It's beautiful outside right now but going up to 31C/87F today and 33C/92F tomorrow! No end in sight either. Trust us to have this summer with no functioning air conditioning.

Happy Canada Day! It should be fun. Please send me all the positive vibes you possibly can that my pizza crust slides off the wooden paddle and in to the pizza oven without gumming up and destroying all the toppings. Our neighbours are coming over at 1'ish. It'll be nice to have company.

Not sure what we'll make for dinner this evening. I'll have to run down and look at what's in the freezer.

Just like you Kimmer, Jim and I used to go out to big Canada Day events when we were younger. Since Ottawa is the Nation's Capital there's always a huge party on Parliament Hill with live music, top name bands. Throngs of people, food, sun, it was great although crazy. Haven't done it in years. Lately we try and find smaller events to take a jaunt to locally but this year of course nothing is going on. Poor Chloe and the fireworks. :( The description of the Popcorn Popper you had sounds like the one my parents had when I was growing up. It was amber in colour with that wand thing you mentioned that would stir everything up.

Wishing everyone a really great day EH? :)

Good Afternoon Everyone. Happy Canada Day!

I had a much needed chiro appointment mid morning and then ran an errand after. My hip still hurts and hopefully will resolve soon.
No clue about dinner just yet because I'm so so tired of cooking and at the moment I am just doing what I need to get a meal on the table. I made a marinara sauce last night for me and had it with pasta. It was ok. Nothing like the marinara sauce that Carrabba's serves which was what I was aiming for. I'll use it up as best I can. I made an English muffin pizza for lunch for me today and used some for it. DH had a ham steak with a fried egg, pan fried potatoes, and asparagus.

We watch the first episode of 'Yellowstone' last night Janet and I love the scenery but not so sure the series if going to be one we enjoy. I'll give it a few more shows b4 deciding.
I'm not a fan of hot air popcorn poppers. You don't get the flavor like you do when popping in oil and/or butter. My stove-top popper says not to use butter, only oil, so I looked up how to make butter flavored oil and it's easy … just add butter extract to oil.
Hope your pizzas behave and all goes well with your lunch today.

Hope the holiday celebrations this year stay short Kimmer. I hate back-yard fireworks. They are disruptive to so many, animals included. I'm lucky because they don't bother LD or Bella at all. I now stay away from events that draw in lots of people but when I was younger I did enjoy going. Home is where my heart is now.

Happy Canada Day Janet. Hoping you have a great time with your company and the pizza cooperates. We avoid the bigger gatherings over the 4th now, also, due to COVID and just plain old getting older! It is not so easy to galivant around as it was several years ago. No fireworks scheduled at the fort so we are staying home with the menagerie.

LInda, we are also more home-bodies now than we were before. I am thinking since we don't own a grill we will have something special over the 4th. Maybe pork steaks since we got two really nice ones at the butcher shop in St. Robert.

Wayne's cardiologist appt. went well. He is incrementing change slowly. He said the heart is good and does increase speed if needed, so no pacemaker is needed. Wayne likes him. He is intelligent and seems to know his stuff really well. Due to COVID restrictions I could not go inside the building even! Waited in the car and listened in on the telephone. A thunderstorm was headed to Rolla and I decided rules or no rules if it got nasty with hail etc. I was going to march inside the entry way, mask on, and wait it out in safety. But all was well. He came out when it started to sprinkle and we drove to the drugstore to pick up a few items....sat in the car for ten minutes while it poured and poured and poured etc. before I could get out and go inside.

Picked up his RX on post. They ask how far you were from post and if it is over 60 miles have your temp checked etc. Another COVID annoyance but understandable.

Mel and Mauser have vet appt tomorrow. Mauser is throwing up blood. Not good. I have to wash my hands before seeing daughter's cat and feeding her, in case it is communicable.

Raccoon #31 is released. A friend of Wayne's has sent me all kinds of memes on raccoons. It is getting ridiculous -- LOL!

Good evening and hello to all. Hope all went well with your pizzas today Janet. I hope the celebrations stay short but I know they will not Linda. So, freaking cool that you found that popper at Lowes! I haven't looked for one in years. As I said, when mine died there were none to be found! Must be they brought it back! Thank you for a great find! So ordering one!!!!!!!! It looks a tad different but same thing none the less. And yes, Janet, my mother had one and that is why I did! Hope your hip starts feeling better Linda. Wow on Mauser throwing up blood Karen. Hope all is well there. My cat Missy did that a couple of times, and in her early age years. (don't know how old Mauser is) Is it a brown yucky blood or bright like normal blood? Missy's was a bright like and vet said, since all her other testing was good, that it could have been just a throat irritation like from dry food. Anyway, she lived to a ripe old age of 19!

Doing a pork tenderloin tonight with parmesan roasted potatoes and salad.

    Please Sleep Sweet All................as always............................

Hope your hip feels better really soon Linda! I'm sure you've already done this, but I googled Carrabba's marinara sauce and found two copycat recipes on the net. Did you try those yet?

    and

I don't think I've ever heard of butter extract. Fun on the Nostalgia Popcorn popper. Did you order it?

Glad to hear Wayne had a good appointment Karen! Excellent on no pacemaker needed! Good luck to Mel and Mauser tomorrow at the Vet's. Hope Mauser's going to be okay.

Your dinner tonight sounds great Kimmer!

Jim and I had a lovely day. I prepped all morning and our guests showed up at 1. We served Sangria which everyone enjoyed and then got the pizzas going. I made three and there are still two pieces left. One Ham, Mushroom and Onion, one Chorizo, red pepper and red onion and one Hawaiian. The first two fell apart in the pizza oven. ARGH! About 1/3 of the pizza sort of fell off. I think Jim's manhandling the pizza paddle and giving it too hard of a shove but that's hard to say diplomatically. LOL. But it tasted nice and they seemed to really enjoy it. We chatted for four hours straight and next thing you know it was 5 o'clock and time for them to head home and feed their dogs. Really enjoyed it.

Just grilling some chicken thighs on the BBQ that I dusted with chicken rub and will serve with BBQ sauce with a tossed salad on the side. It's still 29C outside so I'm sure we'll be sleeping in the basement.
