ooo points what kind? My rosemary garlic loaf came out fine the other day - and made croutons with the leftover multigrain from last week.

I am sure I will be eating more of my split pea soup - was good for lunch yesterday with all this cold weather - but I think it's about to break (the weather, not the soup)

I also have leftover roast chicken - anyone got a good chicken salad recipe - like curry chicken salad or something? Im open for suggestions...

It was a honey wheat loaf. Only my second try at making a wheat bread. The crusts have come out a little too dark. One was still un-done in the middle and the second try was done but the crust seems too brown but tastes just fine. Love the flavor of honey wheat, just have to figure out how to finagle the crust into being a lighter brown.

Happy B-day to Les! Where you going, Wynne?

I've got a sirloin tip thawing and am gonna make French Dips with it - Brad loves 'em and so do I. Lots of HOT horseradish! Rain again today, but not as much - just drizzly.... Typical Washington drizzle when you're not even sure it's raining you're so used to it! LOL No umbrellas here - that's how you can spot an out-of-towner!

okay, i got a question for you all and I am sure you probably have anwered it before. what are black eyed peas and can I put them in vegtable soup? i am making a clean your cabinet ,freezer and fridge vegatable soup and I came accross a can of black eyed peas. god knows what I bought them for or how long they have been there but I don't see an expiration date so i think they should be good. Can I throw these babies in my veggie soup?

Laurie, you can most definitely put them into your soup! Make sure you RINSE them first---or the heavy iron capacity in the beans might make your soup taste too "smoky."

Taste a few first to see if you like them! If you don't after opening them---feed 'em to the birds--we have to remember our little outside friends this time of year!

divalicious I sent you my recipe for Chicken Salad.
It's chicken tenders tonight - might try what Ang did last night. Hope you are doing OK from your fall.
Not sure what sides to have. Need something green tonight along with another veggie.
Rain has stopped temporarily - supposed to start again in the afternoon.
Sending warm thoughts to all of you back East that are still freezing.
    Have a good day!

Hey Val! Thanks for the wishes...It's still sore but I'll live. When I did the chicken strips last night I covered the pan with foil and sprayed it with Pam. Then I sprayed the tops of the strips with Pam, too. I didn't bother to turn them but wonder if I should have? They came out crispy enough.

I've got a roast in the crock today. Not enough room to add the veggies in there so I'll roast them in the oven.

Happy Birthday to Les!!! Have FUN!

    Glad you're gonna live, Ang!

Good to see you Diva. I posted two chicken salad recipes to the group that use roasted chicken. The one from Black Tie Bistro (local restaurant) does have curry in it.

Think I'll do a couple of pizzas while we watch American Idol. Have the boboli crusts, and I'll make up a whte sauce and do sauteed garlic chicken, spinach, onion, bacon, artichoke hearts and cheese. Wish I had a tomato to chop, but, oh well...lol

    Hi to everyone!!!

I'm coming to your house Lori - your pizza sounds great! That is a favorite combo of mine - but have never added artichoke hearts. Yummy - that makes it sound a whole lot better.
Glad you're better Ang and thanks for the tips on spraying and using foil.
Forgot to wish Les a Happy Birthday! Have something decadent for dinner Wynne and then tell us all about it!
Our rain is back - yuck!
    Have a good evening!

I want one of those pizzas too. My sis was talking about one she got from Papa Murphy's (take and bake place) that had artichoke hearts on it. She said it was awesome....

Diagnosed that two out of four have H1N1 and the third is under quarantine. No wonder we feel so awful and the cold isn't making it better for any of us.
Pulled chicken broth from the freezer warmed up and dished up for the invalids. lots of liquid, clear fluids.
I'm the only one walking, the others are down for the count. Still coughing but it is better than it was. I can nearly speak a full sentence before choking
No dairy for me at all....chest x-ray, upper GI, carotid artery doppler, fasting blood work at 7:00 a.m. and then I get to go to work for the day. Phew. NO rest for the wicked or weary.

Ang...I'm so sorry about your fall. That sounds so painful and it could have been so much worse. Falls are just the worst.

Pizza sounds so good. But I can't imagine a pie with no cheese.

Happy Birthday to Les, many happy returns.

P70....if the crust is browning to much....very lightly tent the bread with a piece of foil, shiny side out. Have you calibrated your oven temp lately? Maybe lower the temp 15 degrees and increase the cook time by 10 to cook the interior without so much browing. Honey will darken a crust as well, the sugar naturally does that. I usually use rapid rise yeast yeast, with very little problem, only when yeast was out of date and/or I had the water too hot and killed it when proofing. If the bread seems to dense, increase the white to wheat ratio slightly. Those would be my suggestions.

Tina, did I miss something? Do you mean Fred and Liv have N1H1? You don't I take it. Who's the 4th? Im so confused... Take care - that sounds awful... Sending you my best...

That pizza has me drooling, Lori - I'm gonna have to try it!

Roast is in the oven - smells heavenly - got it in late cuz I was on the phone to my brother, hope it gets done by 6ish, if not I better get an appy ready for the old man - he's starving when he gets home and will start eating all the wrong things, like handfuls of peanuts or pb filled pretzels, or cajun mix peanuts! Hmmm maybe I shouldn't buy such stuff? LOL
