Maple Meal Monday!

Good Morning Everyone! It's a bright sunny day (still COLD) here in Ottawa. Jim slept in a bit this morning but once he's had his coffee we'll go and do our workout. Then I suspect we'll run in town and do a few errands. We need to pick up a white putty stick to cover the nail holes in the baseboard moulding in the rumpus room and I need some groceries. This afternoon we'll try patch those holes and get the furniture moved back in place, hose down the floor from all the work dust and then that job is pretty well done!

Michelle, your IMIII post for the Maple Mustard Glaze made me think of maple foods seeings 'tis the season' here in Ottawa at least. :) Sobey's has a Maple Meal Deal on this week....for $19.99 you get a full rack of Maple Bacon BBQ Ribs, 12 Maple Bacon BBQ wings, 8 pieces of cornbread and a deli salad. Jim doesn't like 'sweet with his meat' and I'm not a fan of cornbread so we won't be indulging. LOL!

    Jim requested
    Chalet Style Chicken
for dinner. He'll probably want steamed carrots on the side although I do have a bunch of bok choy I need to use up.

Wishing everyone a 'sweet' day! :)

Good Morning! Yes, it is nice and sunny but BURR it is cold it is only 10F! Good luck with your errands and then finishing up the basement. Chalet Style Chicken is perfect on such a cold day.

I have been lurking as I haven't been up to too much lately. Lol what else is new! I hate the cold so I will be staying in until it warms up a bit more. We will be having chicken something for dinner tonight.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

I am in SHOCK! I just found out a man who went missing after driving out on Rideau Lake and went through the ice is a man I have known all my life! He was a very good friend of my son as well! He knew the lake so well! So sad there were two of them in the truck. I don't know the other man. I just can't imagine what their families are going through.
On a brighter side, I forgot to tell you I am a Great Grandmother. Andrea had a baby girl and her name is Camden all are doing fine and are at home now.

    Good Afternoon Everyone.

Gloomy overcast day here but at least it's not cold.

Chalet chicken looks good Janet. Perfect too as Joce said for a cold day especially because the oven will be on to help warm the house up.
I wonder who the first person was and what was going thru there head when they discovered Maple Syrup and how to make it? I'm thankful as I love it.

Nice to see you Joce and happy to know you've been lurking. Very sad about the man you know ... you just never know do you.
Congrats on the arrival of your new GGD!! Welcome to the world baby Camden! Wonderful to hear baby and mother and all are doing fine and settled in now at home.

How cool was it that you captured video of wild pigs Karen. We have them here and they can do a lot of damage. I've only seen a wild heard once and it was pretty amazing to see them and too of all different sizes. I'm a sucker for the little babies though, they are cute!

Not much going on here. Did some laundry and will do another small load. Pulled out a pork tenderloin for dinner tonight and will roast that in the oven with carrot chunks and Brussel sprouts. Otherwise life is just one day at a time here.

Hi all!!! Got my shopping done this morning. Caiden got a new pair of Nike's because his were falling apart, kids tear up things so fast! Also got me a small light weight cute backpack that will be perfect for carrying things around in instead of my purse. I can use it in Costa Rica too :) Michael and the kids just left to get hair cuts and run errands, which is perfect so I can clean up around here and pack. Bri is getting her bottom braces on as well, so she is not looking forward to that, but she needs them. Dinner will be grilled ribeyes, some sort of potatoes and brussels sprouts. Hope everyone's day is going well, and I'll catch up later!!!

Good afternoon everyone. Good luck with your chore, Janet, that's such a tedious one. Yum, chicken. That's a great deal on the ribs and wings, no Sobey's near us though.
I read about that this morning, Joce and wondered if it's the same person that I know by that name. The Doug that I knew used to be into antiques. Congrats!!! New babies are so exciting. I love the name Camden.
I would love to see a heard of wild pigs, at a long distant.
Your dinner sounds great, Linda. I'll put that on the menu soon.
I went back and a look a your links, Michelle. Your children are going to have a ball. Just beautiful. I remember those days, Michelle. They either torn them up or outgrew them to quickly. Yum on the steaks.
Not much new here. We're working on the taxes, sigh. I'm having dinner at Bowman's with my dog walking group. Every time I tell myself to order something different but I always order their burger, its so very good. I will try and check back later.

Hi all. It is sure quiet this morning. Oops, this sfternoon!
    Congrats on the new GGD!
    Maple syrup is so good!
Brrr! on the 10F temp! Sorry about the man you knew going thru the ice.
Feeling sorry for Brianna on getting her braces.
I prefer seeing wild pigs on film....ha ha! Have seen some before on our place. I stayed close to the house for sure! One rather large was in our front yard, no fun and could not shoot it because it was in front of / in line with the road! These are descendants of domestic ones turned loose, except maybe two gigantic black ones that look different than most of the others. We usually go armed if we in the woods. Just to be safe.

Went to St Robert to get tire fixed on one truck. It is cold and snow flurries, a damp cold that eats into you.

Got to go. See you later.

Good evening all. I think around 70F here and we have had light rain for about an hour and a half so far. Suppose to "maybe" have thunderstorms later. Will wait and see. Doesn't look from the radar like you're getting any rain down your way Linda. We need some rain badly and the continuous light rain is perfect. Gives everything a chance to soak in unlike just a quick downpour that we often get. And the sound of the rain just fits my mood right now. Not sad, not depressed or anything like that. Just kind of a happy sad, if that can be, I guess. Hubs and I spent about an hour yesterday just going thru pics of Charlie when we first got him as a puppy and of course most of the pics were with the boys and later on, our grandson. Just seeing all of them so young, tugs on the heartstrings!

I remember, as a child in grade school, we would have Maple Syrup Week. All the large doors separating the classrooms of that grade level could be rolled back and opened. All classes participated in Maple Syrup Week together. We would learn a lot and get to taste all kinds of things with the syrup! Sorry to hear about the man you knew that passed, Joce. So sad. Conrats on the great grand baby!! So awesome! And sounds like a lovely family vacation Michelle!!! Wild pigs!!! My son Benny would be in "hog heaven" trying to catch them! Scary, yes, but true.

Dinner tonight is just an array of leftovers. Mainly spaghetti but there are a couple other things in the fridge if someone wants them,

    Sleep sweet all...............as always...................

It's been gloomy and overcast all day here Kimmer but no rain and we too need it. Too many brush fires burning. Hoping too to maybe get some rain overnight. I understand the "happy sad" mood and weather does influence our moods. Right now though I need lots of sunshine.

Enjoy your dinner out this evening Bren. Nothing wrong with a good burger every time you go either ... when it's good, it's good. Yuck on the taxes. I got ours all pulled together and sent them off to our CPA. I haven't heard anything yet and am hoping no news is good news.

You are on "count down" Michelle. Hoping you get everything done and wishing you safe travels and loads of fun. Looking forward to hearing about it when you get time. Who's watching the rats?

I too would stay clear of wild pigs Karen. They can turn on you in an instant and don't blame you for carrying when you go out into the woods. As much as we love wildlife you just never know.

Stonyfield has an organic yogurt line called "Oh My Yog" ... the Madagascar Vanilla Bean one is incredible! I'm not a huge fan of yogurt but this one is awesome. I buy them for when I want that "something after dinner" and this is perfect. I would rather have it than a piece of cake or pie that's how good it is.
I've also tried the blueberry and strawberry but like the vanilla so much more. My store doesn't have the other two flavors (apple cinnamon, gingered pear). I'll have to ask them to order them in.

Hi everyone. We are hunkering down for a blizzard here. I took work home so I can work from home and picked up a few bottles of wine lol.
We had gnocchi from Trader Joe's for dinner. Really good when you need to just make a quick meal. They come frozen and cook In 7 minutes. I was late getting home because Rachel made a chiropractor appt. her back has been really acting up. We did have a nice dinner sitting around the table for an hour after just chit chatting with Rachel home it was nice. I am already freaking about Becca leaving for school next year. Trying to convince her to go someplace local. She is so worried about the money ugh my god she is top of her class she should go to a good school. I tried to tell her it will all work out. She has been better with the stress thing since I made her start seeing a councilor but she still has the occasional freak out. She had her appt Wednesday but it may get canceled because of the snow. I wish she would stop worrying over every little thing.
