Meal Deal Monday

  • chuckieb 1 year ago
Good Morning Everyone! Brrrrrrr....there's a chill to the air this morning but the sky has cleared so no more rain. Had a nasty drive up to the airport last night. Dark, lots of glare and rain. Was pleased to get back home in one piece!
My grocery store is offering this amazing meal deal this week for $19.99. One rotisserie chicken, a rack of ribs, a large gourmet salad kit, a baguette and six butter tarts! I know it's not the healthiest meal, but just the chicken alone costs $10.99 to buy. So I'm going to head in to town this afternoon and pick one up for Mom and I. It'll feed us for a couple of nights for sure! :)
Your new van is great Laurie. I've never driven a van. I think I'd be worried about parking such a large vehicle! Yum on Taco salad. I should put that on the list soon before summer is over. What's a CCD?
Oops....sorry to hear about the Vols loss Lori! Hockey preseason has started and my Ottawa Senators played last night against Winnipeg. We have a new captain as well, Jason Spezza so I'm pleased they got a win for him. :) What were you demo-ing at Kroger's? Hurray for Bryan having dinner ready for you! :)
Wishing everyone a really Good Day! :)

Good Morning Janet! WOW! That IS a real meal deal on Monday!! lol I would have to go for that too. Not that they do anything like that in Sweetwater. "rolling eyes" lol So I missed something....I guess Jim had to go to CA? I hate to drive in weather like that. Glad you made it back on one piece. Love the good day pic.

I was demo-ing biscotti and oatmeal yesterday. More people sampled the oat meal than I thought would. Gives me the heebies just thinking about tasting oatmeal. Can you say nasty???? lol Got to see the Budweiser Clydesdales while I was there!!! The scuttlebutt was that they were going to be delivering a case of beer to a woman who won a free one, and that they'd deliver to her home. (If that was the case, why stop at Krogers? Unless she won it through a Krogers contest?). They were in town for the state fair, so I guess that was tied in somehow.

Well, all too soon it's the day before I start my new job, and I have way too much to do and of course I feel like I didn't accomplish anything while I was off. And I have a nasty spill in my self cleaning oven, which I have to get cleaned. You can't start the slef clean cycle til it's up, and so many chemicals you can't use on a self clean oven. Oy Vey. Any tips? I have to be in Madisonville by 1 for traffic court. Which could take 5 min or all day. UGH. I haven't had a ticket in 20 years. Back then, if you didn't have one on your record you'd go pay $10 and if you didn't get another one in the next year it would disappear from your record. NOW you have to go to court to agree to go to traffic school so maybe they will drop the $200+ fee, and I had a brake light out, so if I take my receipt from fixing it they might drop that ginormous fee, too. Then a stop at the drug store, WalMart, and home to get clothes together and probably iron a couple of things. I will have to leave my house no later than 7 am....10 til would be way better....so I'm gonna need all the help I can get!

Hope all have a great day!!

You can't see him in my avatar, but, there's a dalmation sitting up there next to the guy driving the team of Clydesdales!

The appliance repairman was supposed to show up today to change that element in my stove top but just called to say he'll come tomorrow instead. I've decided to make a batch of
Butternut Squash Soup With Caramelized Apples
since it feels like fall outside, and I wouldn't even mind trying my hand at some cookies. Benjamin bought me a gorgeous big cookie press last Christmas and I haven't even christened it yet.
Morning Lori! Jim is in Cambridge, England this week. I heard from him this morning and he had landed safe and sound and was just cooking himself up some eggs before walking to work. He'll be back next Sunday night. I'm with you on the oatmeal but biscotti are nice. Clydesdales are beautiful. I used to have an Uncle who did logging in the woods and they'd use Clydesdales to get the trees out. I HATE cleaning ovens. Hate it. Mine is way overdue and I'm sure I've complained about it before, but if I turn on the self cleaning mode it locks the entire oven including stove top down for like four hours. How am I not supposed to cook anything for four hours? :) What do you mean you can't start the self clean cycle 'til it's up? Til you get the spill up? And sorry, but I forget....did you get in an accident? I think I remember a woman hitting you...but did you hit someone? And do you seriously have to go to traffic school and what does that entail? Here, if you get caught with a brake light or head light out the police will give you a warning or tell you to have it fixed within the next 24 hours or whatever. You have a very busy day ahead of you. But awesome you start your new job tomorrow and I hope you love it there. Have a good one. Sending you a load of patience, humour and speedy wings. :)

Janet, here it just depends on the officer if you get a warning about a brake light, etc. Oh sorry...the other part of the ticket was for speeding. And I was pulled over by a Sate Trooper. Their tix are way more expensive and they don't give you a warning for anything. lol England, huh? Very cool. Yes, I meant I can't turn the self-clean cycle on til the spill is up. At least that's what the manual says. Smoke factor, I think, because the self-clean cycle is such high heat. And it locks the oven/stovetop down for 4 hours. I usually do that on a Fri or Sat night before going to bed, or, on a Sat morning when I won't be cooking for 4 hours. It's a pain.

    Good morning:)

Janet, that is such a good deal! I'm with Lori, we never get deals like that here:(
Glad Jim had a safe flight to Cambridge..oh how I want to go to England..someday:)

Hi Lori:) I did get a speeding ticket a few years ago...it cost me over $400 plus the cost and PIA of traffic school to keep the point off of my driving record...needless to say, I'm driving much slower these days...LOVE the Clydesdales, they are just beautiful..
Good luck on the first day of your new job...you'll do great!

Dinner, dinner..what's for dinner? LOL I'll have to figure something out..

State Troopers are scary! We saw a couple of those the week we drove to New York State. They always look so imposing! :)I'm always afraid to turn my self clean on before I go to bed as I'm afraid the entire oven is going to burst into flames. I guess I should try that some day as it does certainly make sense.
Hi Marie! Ouch on the $400 speeding ticket! That's crazy! Ouch!

Yes, Janet, that's what I thought, but then again, I do know better and shouldn't have been speeding..I sure learned my lesson!

Decided on Crockpot Chicken And Kraut for dinner since we're busy doing some estimates for upcoming (hopefully) jobs..it's easy and I have everything (only 3 ingredients! I have never added caraway seeds) on hand..I'll serve with some rice and a salad..Rick isn't a big fan of the crock pot chicken & kraut, oh well!

I haven't made that Chicken and Kraut recipe in awhile and I adore it. I tried it only once with caraway seeds and I way prefer it without! :) Good luck on the job estimates. Keep the craziness going right? :)
I got my soup made with the exception of the apple stir in part. Going to head to town in just a bit to run some errands. I found a recipe for a Spice cookie that I can use in the cookie press. I'd like to pipe it out into little sticks and then dip the ends of the sticks in some sort of icing and nuts or something. Not exactly sure but I'll put some more thought into it and see what I can come up with.

I love spice cookies as well, yum:)

The state trooper that came to my accident was very nice :).
They all seemed to know the owner if the tow yard. And when I went there after the accident there was a couple of them there hanging around.
Picked up my new car. Has a lot of bells and whistles but runs much louder than the infinity did. But my old minivan ran louder too. Kids liked it.
Tried a new recipe for dinner that someone posted on FB. It was lemon garlic chicken. You layered lemon slices, green beans , red potatoes and placed four chicken breasts wi skin and bone on top. I only had boneless breasts. It worked but I think it would have been tastier with the skin and bone type.
