Meatball Monday

    Good Morning Everyone.
I don't know about you but I'm still adjusting to Day Light savings time. I seriously wish they would do away with it. Just pick longer days or earlier days, set it, and be done with it.

Going to get a much needed haircut and color this afternoon. Debating if I'll bring LD with me or not. He likes getting out of the house too. Other than that not much else going on at the moment. Weatherman is calling for rain/storms today but who knows, it's so hit and miss, it is overcast though.
I made hot turkey last night so grilled Mahi it will be for tonight with sautéed spinach and rice. Even though I haven't been in the mood for fish lately if I'm hungry enough it'll be good.

What's everyone else up to today?

Never heard from either of the people I called about the book I have. I called two of the living grandchildren (who are in their 60s) and neither returned my call and I did leave a detailed message for both. Oh well as they say.

Good Morning Linda! It takes a day or two to get used to the time change for sure! I wish they'd do away with it as well. Enjoy your hair cut this afternoon. Oh yum on Hot Turkey. That's a shame the people didn't return your call re: the book.

I'm in overdrive this morning. I made breakfast sandwiches for the gang with bagels, peameal bacon and fried eggs and then I made up a lunch for them to bring to the ski hill as the food at the concession is bleck. Cold cut sandwiches on buns with oranges, veggies and some bottled water. So they should be all good. It's a lovely day weather wise. It's going to be crazy busy at Calabogie as it's March Break but I'm sure they'll have fun anyway.
    http://www.calabogie.com/
They headed off at 10 a.m.

Our guests arrived yesterday around 3 p.m. They played some pool and darts and then we all went for a hot tub. I didn't get in from outside 'til 7 and that's when I'd planned to serve dinner. Oops. LOL! But it was on the table just after 7:30 so that's not too bad. It was a resounding success and pretty much everything got eaten up. I did get the chickens in the brine yesterday afternoon so dinner tonight is
    Lemon Rosemary Brined Roast Chicken
    with
    Pear And Pecan Salad
and asparagus and I'm still wondering whether I should do potatoes or not.

I've got one load of dishes going in the dishwasher but a bunch I have to hand wash soaking in the sink. Once I get on top of things I'll head into town as I want to do a bit of clothes shopping for our trip and also maybe pick up a couple more little gifts to bring with us. I'm really pleased with my decision not to go skiing. I'll be so much more relaxed and on top of dinner plans if I'm not away all day. :)

That's very neat that Rachel is going to San Diego Laurie. I've never been there. I don't know why but Kisseme, Florida sounds familiar for some reason? Your dinner out sounded wonderful! Fun that Becca is getting set for the prom. :)

    Wishing everyone a great Monday!

Morning! I'm still adjusting too Linda, hopefully tonight we will get back on track lol. I'm sure your Mahi will be delicious tonight. That's too bad you never got a phone call back :(

You are feeding your guests well Janet! Good call on skipping out on skiing, you don't want to be in a mad rush to get things done. I would be fine with the chicken, salad and asparagus, are they heavy eaters? If so potatoes might be a good idea just in case :)

I slept in some today because I couldn't get to sleep last night until midnight! Seems like it should be opposite since we lost an hour? Ugh! I just want to get back on my schedule. At least the kids are out of school for the week (Spring Break) so I won't be forced to get up at 5am if I don't have to.

Going to head to my Mom's in a bit to pick up the kids. It's a beautiful sunny day, a little chilly, so the drive should be good! Making pork chops tonight with rice pilaf and cauliflower. Debating if I'm going to grill the pork chops or just oven bake, it will all depend on how much time I have before softball practice. Have a great day everyone!!!

    Good morning.

I am sure LD would enjoy the trip, Linda. Fritz is too wound up to take very many places.
    Ha ha!

Your company should enjoy the lunch you packed, Janet. Sounds great! Esp when the food stand there is not up to par.

We have GS this afternoon so will eat at fast food. Probably Hardee’s.....their five dollar lunchboxes are not bad for fast food.

Wayne’s buddy is here so best get moving.

Morning Michelle! A shame you didn't sleep well. How was lunch out with your Dad? If it were just Jim and I for dinner I'd skip the potatoes but they'll have been skiing all day so I may just throw a few in to bake just incase they are extra ravenous. Have a nice drive to pick up the kids. Pork shops sound good. Have fun at softball practice tonight. Nice the kids are on spring break. How are the guinea pigs doing?

Hi Karen! Enjoy your lunch at Hardee's. I'm thinking I should grab myself something fun for lunch out today but haven't decided for sure. Enjoy your day.

The house is back to clean. Just have to put the dishes away when I get home. It sure is pretty outside.

Well I spoke to soon but that's my East Coast, Tri State, mentality ... The woman who I called yesterday called me back just now and is happy to take me up on my offer of having the book!

Wow! You sure are busy this morning Janet. Like a Bed & Breakfast and with lunch too! LOL!. Do your guest have children with them?

So the kids have a whole week off Michelle. I can't believe it's Spring break already. I thought the breaks fell more in line with Easter. I just looked at the calendar and see that the first day of Spring is next week. Where is time going?

GS this afternoon Karen? Is he too on Spring Break?

I see I'm not the only one tired and out-of-whack because of the time change. Hopefully this week we will all get straightened out.

Seen this in an email this morning. Sheet Pan styled breakfast ... in that you may not use the ingredients that this recipe notes the concept might be ideal when cooking for a few people.

That's really nice the lady called you back Linda. Was she surprised you had a copy? It's Jim's brother Bruce who is visiting from St. Catharines (near Niagara Falls) with his wife Laura and their 16 yr. old daughter Emily. Emily was going to have to rent a ski package but she tried on my boots yesterday and they fit so now she's good to go! The sheet pan breakfast is a fun idea!

    Hi Karen :)

Lunch went really well with my Dad yesterday Janet. We tried Freddy's Burgers and it was pretty good! I got a Chicago dog (my weakness lol) and my Dad and Michael both got burgers. All was good, their fries are super then cut and crispy. We also got chocolate custard which was AMAZING! Guinea pigs are great, we have to clean their cage a lot more than rats because they poop SO MUCH! They use their littler box some, but mostly the whole bottom of their cage is covered within a day. Need to look up how to train them better to get it all in their litter box.

Awesome that the lady called you back Linda. Spring break does seem a little early this year, I mean it's not even technically Spring yet!! Yum on that sheet pan breakfast!

    SP Michelle!

Glad the lady called you back, Linda.

GS is not on spring break. His may be shorter bec of all the snow days, flood days, ice days etc. this year. He swims from 5:30 to 7:30, takes forever to get ready to leave, and only fast food is open so we have little choice. Wayne complains he is hungry if I suggest we grab him an Arby sandwich, take him home, and eat at home. It would save money and we would eat better for less. We used to bring him home with us when he was too young to stay home by himself, and fix spaghetti or Chix strips (which he likes), then relax for an hour until time to drop him off when daughter gets out of work.

Baked potatoes are always good, Janet, and filling! I eat a little potato with my sour cream, ha ha.

Had burgers for lunch...easy to fix. And the guys like it. I put out moonshine pickles and pepper jack cheese. They were happy.

    See you later.

Your lunch with your Dad does sound yummy and fun Michelle. Wow on chocolate custard!!! ROFL @ Guinea pigs pooping so much. Too funny!

LOL @ Wayne complaining if you suggest you head home to eat Karen. Yum on your burgers for lunch.

I had a really good shop. I got a ton of little gift things to bring over to Taiwan and I also found a bunch of shirts and tops and a pr. of jeans to bring on my trip as well. I found pretty much exactly the pr. of ear-rings that I was looking for to give to Benjamin's girlfriend Angel. It was a successful jaunt into town. Grabbed a handful more groceries and just making up some Wonton soup for myself for a late lunch.

Feels so good to have my hair done and I did bring LD with me and he was a great little boy. You wouldn't even know he was there, he is quiet and very good.

The woman wasn't surprise I had a copy of the book but surprised that it was as old as it was and signed. The date it was signed is in 1926. She mentioned their family has a couple books but probably reprints before it went out of edition. My good deed for the day.

G.Pigs do poop A LOT Michelle! Pooping and oinking. But they are cute! I didn't know they could be litterbox trained. I hope that they learn it well soon.

Eating on the run is tough Karen. Hard to make healthier choices. The only healthier options seem to be salads and even those can be packed with calories and such.

Awesome you found more little goodies to bring to Taiwan and the perfect pair of earrings for Angel. What is the weather like there this time of year ... is it their spring, their fall?

That's a great 'good deed' you did Linda. :) Where Benjamin lives in Pingtung it averages 28C/81F during the day. Ugh. It's a problem for me and I get heat rashes and the whole shebang. Thank heavens he has air conditioning in his apartment.

Good afternoon and hello to all. Just a quick hi here. Been a busy Monday as usual. Temp in Pingtung is right up me and Chloe's alley Janet, lol! That was indeed a good deed Linda!

Was going to make some cheesy stuffed shells tonight but realized I have so much leftovers in the fridge. Silly to make something new and want to get it all eaten up. Plus, doesn't hurt my feelings to not have to cook tonight.

Hope all enjoy the rest of the day. Will try to pop back later.

    Hi everyone.
Kisseme Florida is near Disney and all the theme parks.
I made chicken in the crockpot with bbq sauce for dinner.
We are getting another blizzard. We could get up to 2feet of snow. Hopefully we don’t lose power again.
I had G-pigs growing up. I don’t remember training them but I remember my first one was trained when we got it..

Yum on your dinner Laurie! Ouch on another blizzard.

I think we're getting snow tonight but only a bit. The gang had a great day skiing and arrived back home about 5:30. Jumped in the hot tub. Dinner was excellent although no one had seconds of the Pear and Pecan salad so I wouldn't serve that to them again. They LOVED the chicken and the asparagus and two of them had baked potatoes. OUr niece has already headed to bed. She's wiped. LOL.
