Mighty Tired Monday

  • MissouriFarmWife 7 years ago
Well, I am exhausted after the weekend. I haven't found USED toilet paper, Michelle, so hope all is well. Haven't had the courage to check the guest room yet for hidden socks etc. that she tends to hide between books. It was like have a five foot tall two-year old. So sad. But not too bad at church, except when she critiqued the piano player and sneaked up the aisle to offer advice to her during the service. Sigh. He just walked up and took her hand and brought her back to the pew. So sad.

He will unpack when they get home and mail anything she took with.

GS was quite good with her, our daughter had also "prepped" him and since he was small has indoctrinated him with accepting all people as worthy, even those different from him. He came home me with us after church and played with the cats...and tolerated poor exuberant Fritz.

I have a ton of spaghetti sauce left over so must figure out a good recipe to use it up.

Mauser is squeaking away happily in the kitchen, begging Wayne for attention. Trouble just left my lap to investigate. Silly beasts.

Geezer got his first antibiotic dose last night. Will put it in his food again....he thinks canned is great and it is easy to mix the antibiotic in.

Michelle, are you in the storm area in Texas?

Cup of coffee is on its way!

Take care and have a good day.

Morning Karen. This lady was a good friend of yours previously? Sounds like you had a hard time of it alright. I'm sure you won't have a problem finding a use for your Spaghetti sauce. Once upon a time there was a recipe circulating for a Tomato soup made with tomato sauce. Glad Geezer is getting his meds.

Sending best wishes to Kimmer this morning. Take good care.

Your Family dinner sounded like so much fun Michelle and "Japan" is a great theme for next time. Any idea as yet to what you might make for that?

Jim's still asleep but I may go hit the coffee button as I've been up for an hour already. :)

    Making
    Rouladen
    and
    Spaetzle
for dinner tonight. Will put out some red cabbage. (LOL Kimmer) and maybe cook up some asparagus as well.

I'd like to just poke about the house today. I need to make a batch of chicken broth and I'd like to make a new batch of Steak rub. Also have some letters to write. We'll see what Jim feels like doing today. I just heard a yawn. :)

    Have a great day everyone.

Yes Janet they have been friends since 1970! We go back a long way.

Rouladen does sound yummy. We will have leftovers!

We have a chance for rain today. Crossing fingers. It is far too dry. It should be in tthe low seventies.

    Good Morning All!

I'm sure you are exhausted Karen. My thoughts too when you mentioned toilet paper being hidden was if it was going to be found used. So glad to hear there haven't been any unexpected surprises. Spaghetti sauce freezes well for another time and too is great on homemade pizza! Did you have to take Geezer to the vet to get the antibiotic?

Prayers to you Kimmer in whatever you and your family decide is best for Charlie. Not an easy decision as I've been there myself. Sometimes the decision sat right with me and other times it did not. I feel for you. It's ok if he sleeps and just wants to be. Will the vet come to your home?

Hi Shona. How did the Yorkshire puddings come out? Any news/word yet on when and what more will be done for your shoulder?

Your appys sounded great Michelle! And yes, I have read the book "The Art of Racing in the Rain". It was great! Read it some time ago.

I LOVE Rouladen Janet! Love your whole dinner idea for tonight. I never made it though but will have to as there isn't a decent German restaurant to be had here. Saved your recipe.

Never did get to make the cookies yesterday, maybe tonight after dinner. I just run out of time. It's not that I'm crazy busy but mentally I just get tired and need to call time out and just sit and read or watch tv. Yesterday after dinner I was able to get outside for a walk around the block. Took LD in his stroller so he could get some fresh air too. He hates walking on a leash and digs his feet in and won't move so instead of dragging him I put him in the stroller. Also, because I'm not vaccinating anymore and he's not on heartworm meds (for health reasons) I don't let him in the grass anyway, too much stuff he may pick up. He's wee-wee pad trained and does what he needs to do on his pads indoors and he is such a small dog it's easy to keep clean and sanitary.
Today's smoothie was a "Fruit Salad" smoothie ... pineapple, red grapes, apple, orange, cucumber, and carrot. Again from the Vitamix blender book. I wanted to see how the ingredients would freeze and made 2 baggies up last night and took one out this morning, I couldn't tell the difference between fresh cut and frozen.
DH surprised me this morning. He cleaned his bathroom himself and finally at my request took the For-Sale down in the front yard and put it in the garage. I still don't bring up the other house but at least we won't have lurkers now hanging around the house because they see a for-sale sign.

Morning! Lol, that’s good that you haven’t found used toilet paper Karen. That wouldn’t be fun. That must be really hard taking care of her. Church does sound like it went well though, could have been worse! Right now it’s nasty outside. It’s not too windy or anything, but it is raining off and on and very dark. I need to check the hourly and see what the rest of the day is like.

Janet, on Pinterest I made a Family Themed Dinner-Japanese folder if you want to take a look :) I’ve only pinned a few, but I’m definitely thinking I’m going to make the Japanese cheese cake http://amirahwaznahku.blogspot.de/2014/06/best-ever-japanese-cotton-cheesecake.html
Which looks AMAZING!!! I think it would need a sauce though, so I would want to stick with the theme though and figure out what would go good on it. Yum on your dinner!!

Lol, glad I wasn’t the only one thinking the toilet paper could have been used Linda. I can imagine how you are mentally worn out. So cute that you push LD around in a stroller :) Very smart though, to work with his needs. Yum on your smoothie! Good job to DH!

Well, Bri and I were planning on getting our passports today, but it’s a no-go. Most places are closed that do it and the one’s that are open only do them on certain day’s and Monday’s are not one of them. My passport expires in March, but we are leaving in June lol, so I just missed out on not having to get it renewed! So, we are trying to figure out what to do today now. Nothing outdoors obviously, so maybe the movies? I’ll have to see if there is anything good. If not, I guess it will just be a lazy day hanging around here, which might not be so bad :P

After seeing Janet’s post on Roast Chicken With Meyer Lemon And Sage I am craving a roasted chicken, but I might pick another recipe :) Probably potatoes and brussels sprouts on the side. Have a great day!!

I am glad everything went well, Karen but no doubt you are tired after all that is not an easy task for anyone. Her HB sounds like a real gem. I would freeze the spaghetti sauce and use it up for something else later on. Good to hear Geezer is now on antibiotics and I hope they kick in for him soon.

Have fun puttering around the house today, Janet.

Nice you and LD were able to go for a walk yesterday, Linda. Your smoothie sounds just yummy to me!

    Enjoy your lazy day, Michelle.

Today is Den's last day off work and it is a holiday for most people called "Family Day". Not quite sure what we are up to today yet. We will be having leftover pork roast with mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner. I am not quite sure what we are going to have for sides yet.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

I'd never seen a dog in a stroller until Jim and I first visited Benjamin in Taiwan a few years ago. On the whole they all have 'small' dogs and strollers are a big thing. I've never put vegetables in my smoothies but that comes of no surprise to anyone I'm sure. :) Good to hear DH cleaned his bathroom and took the For Sale sign down.

Cool on your Japanese Dinner Pinterest folder Michelle. The cheese cake looks very light and fluffy. I do feel bad I kind of dissed Pat's Roast Chicken recipe but it just wasn't good enough for me to make again. It was totally a nice roast chicken, just nothing special IMHO. You very well may like it Michelle.

Well Den got a nice day weather wise for his last vacation day Joce. It's very warm out and you gotta love that blue sky and sunshine. Yum on our dinner.

My chicken broth is making the house smell wonderful. Jim and I went down for a work out in the basement and then had a tomato and cheese omelette with hot sauce for breakfast.

Add me to the "Mighty tired Monday" club, lol ...As much as I'd love to sleep in I can't lay in bed anymore, too uncomfortable!
The Yorkshire pudding turned out excellent, better than I've made them in the past so Pete gets an A+. The gravy however did not turn out so well, but the guys liked it so that was ok. I just had plain mashed taters and made a quick horseradish sauce to go with the roast beef.
I'm not feeling well today, the anti-flamm's are getting to my tummy :(
I planned on making cashew chicken, but that's too involved for Pete so I'll probably get him to help make seared chicken breasts in a shallot pan sauce with a Caesar salad.
I did order grocery's for this week that are frozen or quick to make since Pete is back to work after the holiday today.
Pete has to take Colter to the hosp. for another xray to see if he needs a full cast or not. I have to phone the doctor tomorrow for an appt. and have them schedule an mri. I'm on anti-flamm's and arm sling for one more week.

Enjoy the rest of your Monday everyone! :)

Ooooh, do let me know how the Japanese cheesecake turns out Michelle. I've been wanting to make one now for some time but because I'm the only one here that would be eating it (DH doesn't eat sweets/desserts) I haven't made one but I can see it being so light and fluffy.

Hi Joce. Did Den get to do anything fun while he was off? I know he shoveled a lot of snow.

They make strollers specifically for dogs Janet. All kinds and for dogs of varying weights. I've used our a lot as Florida is such a dog friendly state and we take LD so many places I don't have to carry him and too he is safe in his own zipped in space.
Yum on the homemade chicken broth.

Poor Shona. I feel so bad for you between the pain and now your tummy. Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. Hoping Colter's xray goes well and he doesn't need the full cast.

Haven't a clue what to make for dinner. We had turkey chili for lunch and I'm full and know I won't be that hungry later.

Yay Pete on a successful Yorkshire pudding! :) Your dinner this evening sounds lovely Shona. Sorry to hear your stomach is upset. I hear you on laying down for too long and getting stiff. Keep us tuned on both your and Colter's appointments. Take good care.

Our friends are back home and he will email us later. She snoops in his phone messages .... I guess it goes with the territory .... but can't handle email.

Fixed fencing in the horse pasture so as soon as Wayne installs the people gate they will have a lot more room to run. Fritz rode along in the Gator. A.C. and Trouble came out for a look-see, fortunately when they strolled under the electric fence their tails were down, not up. Scaredy cat Mauser actually went outside, just stayed on the porch. She may be ready to check out the outdoors!

Ha ha on the toilet paper speculation! I think with either Wayne or me in the house with her, and her HB keeping an eye out, potential problems were avoided. No socks were hidden among the books....ha ha!

    Hi everyone!

People gate is installed. Tomorrow the horses can have lots more room. We have errands to run and Dr. appt. tomorrow, then home for the Schwanns guy. Fritz loves it because she he brings dog biscuits.

Wayne is showering early. I should probably get a shower after supper also. Medicated Geezer. He loves canned cat food so we slip him a little with meds in it. He may not get as much antibiotic as he should because sometimes he doesn't come around in the morning. It is still oozing but less swollen....fingers crossed.

There is really not much else going on around here...typical quiet day so far. It looks a bit rainy in the West so we are hoping to get some. The TV station is predicting a bad mosquito season due to ridiculously warm February. I found a natural yard mosquito repellent on Facebook so may try it this Spring/summer.

Supper is baked chicken thighs with Pinot Grigio wine and Mediterranean Sea salt spice over it., baked potato and sour cream, ? Maybe.creamed spinach.

    See you later.

Well I had a productive day all in all although I didn't get any steak rub made. The chicken broth is strained and is cooling before I put it in the fridge overnight. The rouladen is almost ready. Got my letters written and ready to mail off tomorrow. Lots of birthdays and anniversaries this month!

Funniest thing that happened today....JIm and I were out in the hot tub when all of a sudden a Beagle appears right beside us. Quite a surprise as we rarely see dogs in the yard. It was very friendly and quite laid back. I'd guess it to be around 7 years old. It was having a lovely jaunt around the property....romped to the back and startled the flock of 14 turkeys who all flew up into the trees and then later on two deer went whizzing by with their tails in the air. I figured I'd better get out and go look at it's tags and call the owner. It let me close and sure enough there was it's name, (Gizmo)and a phone #. Gizmo happily came inside and gave the entire house a sniff from one end to the other while I called the #. Turns out Gizmo belongs to the new neighbours who just moved in right beside us last August! We've mean't to go over and welcome them but just haven't made it. The husband came over straight away and we had a good chat and I brought him around back to where Jim was still soaking. LOL. He seems very nice, a young guy, newly married and they just had their first baby girl in December. We'll invite them over in the next week or two. So funny.
