Monday at McDonald's!

  • chuckieb 7 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! Just finished my first cup of coffee. Jim and I are going for breakfast at McDonald's this morning. We need to do a Costco run and we're also going to go check out "Superstore". LOL. I looked at a flyer online and there are some things that I'd like to get, plus I'm super curious just to check the store out seeings I've never been in one before. :)

Nice on the cheesecake Michelle! Hope Jason enjoyed his day of NFL Football. Amethyst Surprise isn't a boring name for a nail polish and it gives me an idea as to what it looks like. :) The first thing that sprung to mind for me was Thunder Bay as they have a lot of Amethyst mines around the area. They even often tours although I've never taken one.

No Karen, Aunt Irene wouldn't agree to a care worker to get Mom to change her mind. She's very independent as well and quite proud of herself that she can do everything on her own. Nice that you went out for lunch yesterday. You'll have to order taco salad next time. Although you could always just make one for yourself at home.

Linda, Michelle B. is an old ODD'er that just hasn't been on in a while. She is originally from Saskatchewan and she and I actually met and went for lunch once when she was here in Ottawa on a conference. Then....she studied super, super hard and upgraded her qualifications (excuse me Michelle if I don't remember exactly what you got upon Graduation) and found herself a job in Fiji for heaven's sakes!!!! So she and her hubby now live there happily ever after. I just love the story. :) Good luck going through the paperwork with your realtor today. Glad the storms skirted around you.

Your chicken with garlic cream sauce sounded yummy Kimmer. Good that you can get a replacement canvas for your Gazebo.

Karen, can you get a mosquito liner/cover for your Gazebo?

We're supposed to get a ton of snow overnight.

Put the chicken thighs in the brine yesterday so we're having
    Pickle Brined Chicken
for dinner this evening with a baked potato and a veggie tray. Appy's turned out really nicely last night. I love appy dinners.

There's a new movie out about McDonald's called "The Founder" starring Michael Keaton. I've always liked him as an actor.

    Wishing everyone a good day!

Benjamin's at the airport outside of Taipei waiting for the Check In to open. I'm excited for him. (And nervous too, yes) :)

    Goodmorning!
We had MacDonald's for breakfast yesterday, Janet. It is always a nice treat for us. Before I forget. What about getting a handheld shower put in your Mom's bathtub and also one of those special plastic chairs she could sit on? It might be less expensive for her and that might just do the trick. I had to do that after my open heart surgery until I was very stable on my feet. MichelleB is a smart cookie has obtained her PHD:)
Shaking my head about the tun of snow we are supposed to get:( Have fun at the Super Store and Costco today and enjoy your breakfast and dinner. I hope Ben has a wonderful vacation as well.

Your dinner last night sounded fabulous, Kimmer! I hate when I can't seem to replicate a good dinner like that but I bet you will be able to. Is Michael still there with you?

Linda, Keep up the good work and good luck with selling your home in NC.

We are having pork chops for dinner tonight with mashed potatoes and steamed spinach. I need to dust and also give the hardwood floors a once over too.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Holy Quietness Batman!!! Just home from our errands. Enjoyed brekkie at McDonald's. Had a fun shop at Superstore. My first visit! It's HUGE! They had small Maple Leaf Hams on sale for $5.98 and Beets and I had them on my list but forgot to look for them. DUH! My best deal was a 400 g bag of Masala Garam which I use a fair amount in Indian recipes. $2.59! Which is a fantastic price. I've seen it in the large spice bottles in the regular grocery stores for $6.59! Got a nice sized bag of baby bok choy for $1.79 and Jim had fun as they had a great selection of Craft beer so he bought three cans he's never seen anywhere else. LOL. I got one of their points cards too. Thanks for the recommendation Bren and Shona.

Got a big piece of salmon at Costco and a bunch of veggies and fruit. Also bought one of those Novaform gel pillows so will give it a try tonight. If I don't like it Jim can try it and if he doesn't like it we'll put it on the guest beds. LOL.

Stopped in quickly at Bulk Barn and Farm Boy as well so the snow can come down and we won't go hungry.

    Hi Janet. Hi Joce.

The Gazebo comes with a net and a canvas surround, Janet. Very time consuming to put up but the netting does keep most of the skeeters out. This was a bad year for the pests. I am thinking of citronella candles and such for next year. Bought two "mosquito" plants that didn't phaze the little demons. The canvas pulls help in cool windy days, and Wayne found that it makes an excellent deer blind -- LOL!

Too bad the independent aunt won't play the game. I have an idea I will be the same way, though, in my later years. I say I am independent. Wayne uses a few other words. Tee hee! Nice you met MichelleB for lunch. It must be really cool to be able to meet someone that you chat with on O.D.D.

Pork chops, or anything with mashed potatoes, would hit the spot, Joce. We have a Fire Dept. Meeting tonight so will probably fix something quick. And non remarkable, I'm afraid. My floors need a total refinishing. Dusting wouldn't hurt, but we may have to start over when we redo the living room. At the current rate I will be about 95 years old before we start. Ha ha.

My sun room is littered with papers and stuff - in the process of finishing organizing fire dept.board records. Am hoping (how futile) a relatively young, active, organized woman / man will move in to the district and beg to take on the position of Fire Dept. Secretary. Bwahahahah! Sure.

    Have a nice day.

    Hello,
I can't believe it's late afternoon and I have to get the kids from school already! I've been busy baking banana bread and meal prepping for the week. Colter has exams starting Wed. and the kids have physio and other appt's so I know we'll be busy! I dread exams, probably just as much as Colter, lol....We're trying to get his grades up this term, so I expect a lot of late nights helping him study!
I made a big batch of meat sauce and penne pasta, so I am baking that with some cheese for dinner tonight.

Yay Janet, you're first trip to Superstore!! I don't buy meat there that often, but everything else from clothes, pharmacy to dairy! ;) They have a fantastic organic/natural foods section, that's where I get my Kicking Horse coffee from. As far as grocery store's go, they have the best International selection. And where I live, that's about the best place I can go since I do not have the specialty markets like you would get in a big city. That's what I miss the most about living in Vancouver! We do have a fabulous Meat Shoppe here though, being in cattle country :-) I am literally surrounded by every livestock farm you could imagine! lol ;)
Sorry to hear about your mom, my goodness that must have scared you! I hope she calls someone right away if that happens again! Hoping Benjamin has a safe trip and a fun vacation! :)

Hi Joce! Good idea about the chair in the tub for Janet's Mom. I remember my Grandma had one of those, but eventually she had to have caregivers come and help her in and out the tub twice a week. Yikes on the snow you might get! We were suppose to get snow overnight, but knock on wood, it hasn't happened yet!

    Hi Karen!

    Ackk, I'd better run.....have a good day everyone! :)

    Good afternoon everyone.
What a cool story about Michelle B. Fingers crossed that the storm slides by us. I too love appy dinners. You did very well at the stores Janet. Their International aisles are wonderful and have great prices. I always check there before buying any spices, so much cheaper. Don't forget to check your email and download your offers on Friday morning.
A had held shower and a seat is a wonderful idea Joce. We bought a seat for MIL and it does help. Pork chops, mashed potatoes and spinach sound wonderful.
I love the sound of your gazebo Karen, sounds like the perfect place to sit and read. Good luck at the meeting.
I know Shona, where did the day go?
I did the same with our youngest Shona, it wasn't that he couldn't learn but that he didn't want to. Yumm, love pasta dinners.
I found a package of ham in the freezer so that will be dinner. I'm making scalloped potatoes, just for me, and will have a spinach salad on the side.

Hi Karen! Hope you get some of your paperwork organized. I have one big stack of papers piled on my computer desk from when I cleaned out the bookcase last week. I need to go through them and banish them to a file in the basement if they're worth keeping.

Yum on Banana bread Shona. I don't envy Colter having exams coming up. I am glad I don't have to go through that anymore. So stressful!

Hi Bren! Yep, I tried to activate my PC points card but it looks like the site is down at the moment. YUMMERS on Ham with scalloped potatoes. One of my fave comfort meals. I like spinach salad too.

I got my new scanner hooked up today and am very pleased with it. I'm back at scanning in old family photos. So much fun.

I'll run the idea of the plastic chair and the shower head attachment by Mom when I talk to her next Joce. It might work.

Heard from Benjamin and he arrived safe and sound and checked in to his Hotel.

Hi Bren, Shona, and Janet. Meeting postponed so we took GS to swimming and will leave soon to take him back.

On the way out to pick him up, the mate to the pup we hit dashed into the road and under the truck. He didn't make it. The neighbor was quite nice about it. The dog says. Rub free and are addicted to chasing cars. The one we hit before, however, did learn to refrain. I hate hitting anything, much less a dog.

Meant to watch Celebrity Apprentce but didn't get home in time.

GS is playing with a robot he got for Christmas and Wayne is watching. Must scoot. See you later.
