Well,I have some stuffed sheels and some hot sausage,a loaf of bake at home bread and salad. Think we will call that dinner!

Let me know how those stuffed sheels turn out. :)

I have been out in the vineyard early finishing up getting the last row tied up to the training rods. Almost ready to take a couple more pictures once I get the longer vines tied over to the secondary training line.

Going to be either pancakes or instant potatoes this morning and this evening. A day and a half and counting 'till the dentist appointment.

No money to grocery shop till the end of the week, so it looks like I will be shopping in the big freezer downstairs. So I have no Idea.... Youngest said she can't even look at another hot dog! Lots of grilling and hot dogs are the grill food she eats. Looks like she is gonna have to try something else. I am thinking steak and cheese calzones. depending on the steak situation. I could make pizza. They had blocks of Mozerella on sale last week for 2 for $5 so I have plenty of that but my grater is broken. I will have to email hubby and see what he is in the mood for. He is so funny, you all know that we have been together since we were 15 and we don't really spend so much time apart . I left for Maine on Sat morning and came back sunday night, you would have thought I left him alone for weeks. He kept asking didn't you miss me at all, I mean really it was a day and a half :).

Writing to you all from Jetblue gate 103 in Orlando International Airport. Will be spending a couple of days visiting with friends at Autodesk headquarters in Massachusetts. I believe this is my first visit to Massachusett. Hope to go one day for the purpose of fun and exploration.

I am staying at the Element Hotel Lexington which seems a very sleek and modern accommodation. This hotel is quite near the Autodesk Headquarters. This evening they are having a reception dinner at the Tuscan Grill in Waltham. The photos shown on their website make it look very cozy and inviting. Happily menu is posted so I can attempt to make some good decisions about dinner.

I was very pleased to have awoken early enough this morning to make a nice breakfast at the house. When you get through the gates at the airport you are greeted by the scent of big sticky cinnamon buns. Completely irrisitable on an empty stomach. I stopped for a large regular coffee from Starbucks instead.

LAURIEG--Girl, try the food processor! I hear ya on the budget thing. Broke 'til payday is my motto, LOL

LECLARE---Dinner sounds scrumptious. Love love stuffed sheels! :-D

POINTS---I hope he's able to help you out, Points. You sure have been through the mill!

It's chicken breast something-or-another over here tonight. I know one day this week I'm going to try out the homemade tortillas and the homemade chicken taco filling in the crock pot. That stuff sounds wonderful!! Both recipes I believe are posted in the "I made it" group, up top. Can't wait for that!

Y'all have a great Monday---I'm off to shop for the bratty one's beach clothes. :-)

Thanks knox. Okay, found something in the deep freeze called boneless pork butts. WTH? I don't know if I bought it for a specific thing or just thought it was for boneless ribs. So can I do the rub and slow roast and then cut it into boneless ribs? not for tonight because they are frozen solid and its a pretty big package again WTH? Still undecided on dinner, Waiting to hear from my neice if she is eating over or not. She has to have gluten free so that kind of kills the pizza, pasta or calzone options.

    Good Monday Morning!

Are you believin' this weather, Knox??? We almost need a jacket in the mornings and evenings right now. Not our usual hot n' humid July, for sure.

Well, I just posted some oven fried chicken to the group, then I remembered that all my chicken is frozen, so, Ix-Nay on the chicken. It'll be mad scientist night at our house....several things that I need to use up, so, we'll see what happens!

Laurie, that sounds like it would be just like a boston butt, only without the bone. Think pork roast. You can definately slow roast in the oven, with a rub, or with veggies, and it makes great pulled pork bbq.

    Good Morning ALL!

Pat, your sheels sound good! (we're so relentless here! LOL)

Points, hope relief is soon, man cannot live on pancakes and potatoes alone.

Laurie, you could definitely put that pork in the slow cooker with Pat's tequila/chile marinade and make pulled pork. mmmm

Otter, Sounds like fun (except for the bus part) What is Autodesk? Is that where you work? (duh)

Lori, LOL - I think I LIVE in mad scientist mode!

Gonna make some kind of Italian thing - got this good sour dough bread (for the whiner) at Trader Joes on Friday and don't want it to go bad, so that's definitely on the menu.

Another beautiful day here today. All week and into the 90's by Friday (ugh)

I know I'm late today! I'm not on my usual fast computer! That one has a virus and is being fixed! So I don't get much comp time these days! :( The comp I'm on now is way too slow and keeps freezing up on me...and then I end up just logging off!

Well anyway...we're just having store bought Boca burgers!

Can I ask you ladies for some fashion advice? I have an evening wedding to go to soon and I want to wear a gown. The wedding is in a fancy catering hall. Please look at the pic and please answer these questions for me...

    1. Are these colors okay for an evening wedding...the salesgirl said yes, but I'm not hip with those things! Is 'hip' a hip word? LOL!

    2. And can I wear the white shoes with the black purse?

Thanks so much! This is a BIG help! I haven't worn a gown to a fancy night wedding in MANY years!

What a beautiful dress....love the colors!!........I always thought your bag had to match your shoes but apparently they don't according to Tim Gunn.......He said it's more important that your lipstick match your nailpolish....LOL

I'm gonna be really bad tonight and make steak bombs for supper....And zucchini fries!!

Have fun in Boston, Otter.....It's a great city!!

Pretty dress! I like my shoes to match my dress but thats just me. How much do you carry your purse around anyway. usually it just sits at the table.
Thanks for the pork butt advice. I have never made pulled pork sandwiches. My plan is to slow cook it with a rub & then cut it into boneless ribs & add bbq sauce, but if I slow roast it long enough do I just pull the pork off and add the bbq sauce & put into sandwiches?

Lillian, beautiful dress! I ran a privately owned dress shop for 25 years before I decided to get out of retail - don't miss those hours, but I so miss going to market to see what's up and coming! They no longer say that your shoes have to match your bag, but, for an evening wedding, especially if it's black tie, you will want to do black shoes, unless you just happen to have some killer dressy sandals that are just made to go with that dress that are mostly white. If you can find some of the strappy sandals with the big stones in the colors of the dress, that would be really awesome! (I'm so hard to fit, I don't get to do that very often! lol). Just a white sandal or white dress sandal will make it more casual.

Depends on how you like it, Laurie. Personally, I like the bbq and the pulled meat cooked together. Once the meat is ready, I take it out, pull with two forks, stir into the sauce and cook on stove top a little longer. Some bbq restaurants serve with the meat plain, and you squirt your sauce on top of the sandwich. Not too sure about "slcing into ribs" after it's cooked. I usually do the big pork butts, and they are so tender and juciy they fall apart more then they slice...

Thanks Wynne... I usually would go for a solid color dress, but there was not one to be found! LOL! I guess these bright colors are 'in' these days!

My sister agrees with you Laurie...she said she would use a black strappy sandal with a thinner heel. And she said she would use a more danity evening bag. She told me to wear a thin shawl, but I don't feel like shopping for one! I can't help you with the sandwiches...never made them, but I like Sparows way!

Yes Sparow...I guess black strappy is more dressy! I love your idea of the stones on the shoes matching the dress colors! Do you think that dress is okay for a 49 year old? I don't want to look like I'm having a mid-life crisis! LOL! I'm just not sure what goes these days!

Lillian! That dress is beauteous! If it were me--and I already had the white shoes ready--I would scope out like Ross or Marshall's--try to find one of those nice white beaded type evening bags. Shouldn't be more than about $15---and woohoo--good to go! If you go with black---make sure they match up!

    Gawgeous, girly. :-D

Mother brought back some instant mashed potatoes with pureed broccoli from the senior center. I wouldn't have thunk that anyone could screw up instant mashed potatoes. No butter, no salt, and the broccoli lent a funny (not ha-ha) taste to the spuds. I played food doctor then choked down the questionable potatoes because they are easy on the gums.

I believe the quality of food at the center suffers from money concerns.

Lillian, I'm old fashioned I guess, cuz I definitely think your shoes need to match the bag. Especially at a formal evening affair. I think the dress is pretty and is fine on a 49 year old as long as it's not too short. I would also go with black shoes if you have 'em. I think you can get away without a shawl since it's summer. Is it an outdoor event - I know you said a catering hall, but will you be outdoors at all?

Laurie, my experience with pulled pork is if you cook it in the crockpot, like Lori said, there is no "slicing," it just falls apart!

LOL Points, I'm sorry, but pureed broccoli in mashed potatoes! Yeah, that would constitute a screw up.

I do have a Marshall's right near me Knox! But I never get those great deals when I go there! I did get an AMAZINGLY good deal on the dress...$24. It was 50% 0ff, plus I had a 20% off coupon!!! I was sooo happy! I love great deals! I got it at Mandee's

Me too Pleclare...I think I'll have to go with the matching shoes and purse.

Yes, JJM...its floor length. And you know, I'm not sure if the cocktail hour is outside! Thats a good question! I'll have to ask!

I'm sorry Points...I know this is probably boring you to tears!!! LOL! I hope you get some relief for your gums soon! You must be dying for some real food!

I knew I would get lots of great advice from all of you! My biggest worry was that the design was too young for my age, but you all seem to think its fine, so I'll wear it!

Thanks everyone for all your help!

The dress is lovely. I've not owned anything that pretty in many a year. You will look lovely and be very beautiful whatever you wear with it. With the kid's multi-prom years, we settled on a pair of strappy silver shoes and a small silver bag...it went with the rhinestone sparkly stuff she wears and it looks good with multi-colored dresses too. one year was royal blue, one year emerald green and the silver strappy look went with both of them.

I know Tim Gunn said "no matchy" but my momma said matchy and I go with Momma.
    Hard habit to break.

Sorry Points, but to have messed up mashed potatoes with no flavor is a penance, not dinner.

We're having Nawlin's red beans and rice for supper. Fred thinks meatless is his penance. Phoeey. He has sweet potato pie for dessert. He can deal.

Got some good ground sirloin at Safeway today and I'm thinkin' some kind of meatballs with sauce. AND the crusty sour dough bread and wine. Does anyone have a really good recipe that's tried and true for meatballs. Seems like every time I make meat balls, they somehow lack pizazz. I don't understand it cuz my spaghetti and meat sauce hubby always says is good, but for some reason when I do it with meat balls, he's not that thrilled. Any suggestions?

I think it is Keni that has a good meatball recipe I made recently....

So this $7, 7 lb. pork roast is on it's second turn as some BBQ shredded pork in the little crock. And there is enough for 1 more meal! Thinking about making that eggplant into something before I lose it. Maybe some fries?

pfft..don't ask me about fashion! I'm lucky if I wear anything but my swimsuit and a cover-up during the Summer! Although it has been pretty cool here lately, too cool to swim. Which is getting irritating and bumming me out, won't be long before school starts....

And you never know, that broccoli/mashed tater recipe might just be a favorite at the senior center....

I made a chinese style sweet steak stirfry with rice. Neighbor child had a plateful and declared it delicious (didn't even know she was eating over) Gluten Free niece was here for dinner so no pasta, and that nixed the pizza and the steak and cheese calzones. So she will be here again tommorow night so I think I will have to do the pulled pork thing tommorow. Thanks for all the help guys, so It is still a little frozen, If I throw it in the crockpot tommorow before I leave for work what should I put in with it? The standard rib type rub? TIA.

Laurie if it were me, and I know it's not, but I take it you're making bbq pulled pork sandwiches with it, right? I have just poured in my favorite bbq sauce or a homemade one on top of the meat in the crock pot. You don't need a lot cuz with the crockpot liquid doesn't evaporate. I put some sliced or chopped up onions in the crock first, then dump in meat and pour on sauce. Simple and fast. Ready when you come home from work!
