Monday's "Me" Day!

  • chuckieb 7 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! It's overcast this morning and actually feels like it might rain although rain isn't in the forecast.

I'll make up that Sauerkraut soup this morning to have for my lunch and then I think I'll thaw a piece of salmon and make:
    Teriyaki Salmon With Sriracha Sauce
    for my dinner.

No major plans for me today although for sure I'll work on "Ancestry". I wouldn't mind getting outside and doing a bit of gardening. My day lilies at the back of the house finished over a month ago and I still haven't cut down the dead flower stalks.

    Wishing everyone a Grand Monday!

    Good Morning Everyone!

I love "me" days ... days when you only have to do what you want. Enjoy yours Janet!

Yesterday it rained pretty good for a spell and after it stopped I went to the front door to look out to see what indication there was in the sky for more. At the front door was a pretty big water turtle (about 12" long). It was so cool to see him. Usually you see them crossing the road to get from one pond to another but we don't back up or face a pond. I'd like to think it was that teeny tiny turtle I helped some time ago who is now all grown up stopping by to say "Thank You".

It's 85(f) and 100% humid. No outdoor activities planned here. My ginger is loving the weather though and yet another sprout is starting making for a total of 6 now. Once it sprouts, the sprouts are pretty quick to start growing. Once the growth is ample enough I'll take a picture.
Kenpo this afternoon and that's about it here.

    Have a great day everyone!

Hi Janet, enjoy your Me time today!! Hopefully it doesn't rain and you can enjoy some gardening today.

Aww, that's so neat to see a turtle outside your front door Linda! I love the leaves on a ginger plant, they remind me of bamboo. Hopefully the sprouts will leaf out soon :)

I'm up early today, I couldn't sleep. I have all the kids lunches made and packed up with time to spare :) I ended up making rice to go with our tandoori chicken, I didn't feel like making a mess on the counter top and kneading the flat bread. I'm still quite stiff today as well!....I also watched the Revenant yesterday. Boy is it long! I think they could have easily cut off 30 minutes. But I thought it was a good, accurate story of the time. It was based on the real life story of Hugh Glass, perhaps more legend and folklore, but they also relied on journals from fur trappers and Aboriginal stories etc..The only person I couldn't understand sometimes was Tom Hardy's character, Fitzgerald. But it was much easier to understand than Heath Ledger in Brokeback mountain! ;) I was expecting to fast forward a lot of fight scenes, but I only did that at the end of the movie, so it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. I loved recognizing the mountain ranges and back drops, the river scenes were in Bow river that runs thru Calgary. And majority of the mountains are in Kananaskis country, where we were going to camp this year accept the parks were closed for 3 Bear attacks. It's definitely a dramatic story, not too much dialogue, not a feel good Hollywood movie. Not sure what I'd rate it at, but I would still recommend seeing it. Just be in a mood for a long epic story :)
Dinner tonight is beef stew in the slow cooker. I have to cut Jersey's hair today, and that's about it so far.
    Have a great day everyone!

LOL. Just saw how the thread title looks "Monday'squotmequot Day!" LOLOL. Oh well...

Good Morning Linda, and 'thanks'. I totally shall. :) (I still haven't had breakfast) Oh my goodness @ the turtle. That is so cool! That would be super fun if it was the same turtle you helped out. :) Have fun at Kenpo! Be careful with your foot and don't get any more injuries!!!!

Neat to hear your review of the "Revenant" Shona and now I am totally curious to see it for myself and see how I feel. That would be super cool to actually recognize the scenery! Sorry to hear you couldn't sleep but it sure sounds like you're being very productive.

Good afternoon everyone. Enjoy your "me" day!! That recipe looks fantastic Janet. I hope to get into the garden soon, so much needs doing.
That is so cool Linda. I'm not sure that I've ever seen a water turtle. We have snapping turtles at the lake and they aren't friendly. I'm looking forward to seeing photo's of the ginger.
Perhaps a nap is in order this aft Shona. I hate it when I can't sleep. Someone's barking dog woke me up at 6, grrr. I love movies with beautiful scenery.
Not much new here. I had a few cancellations so I"m off early and I feel a bit lost. I have to rewire a lamp for hubs so I guess that I should get to that.

Hi Bren! I am always wary of snapping turtles alright! :) We had one underneath the dock at the cottage once and it was nipping at my nephew's toes. We didn't believe him at first. LOLOLOL. Ugh on the barking dog waking you up early. :( Good luck rewiring your lamp.

    Goo morning (or afternoon?).
Ugh on the possible snapping turtle - they are large, dark green, fairly flat shelled, and they do kill ducks by dragging them under the water. Never heard of water turtles, however.
Have only a few minutes before we leave to get the license / insurance for the RV. Fire Dept meeting is tonight so I may or may not get back.
Anyhow, hi to all. See you later.

Hi Karen! Have fun at the Fire Dept. meeting? :)

Well....if you'd told me that I'd voluntarily choose to weed and sweep the back interlock and deadhead the day lilies at the back of the house on my 'me day' I would have told you you were nuts, but that's what I did. On to make some sauerkraut soup for my lunch. I shall use the rest of the afternoon in a more leisurely fashion and feel good about it. :)

Hi everyone! Just been catching up on housework and laundry since I was at the ball fields all weekend. We had our first two league games yesterday and won them both, woohoo! Caiden has a game tonight and I'm about to get something ready for dinner now that we can reheat when we get home. Thinking maybe I'll give this a try Oh So Sloppy Joe since Michael keeps telling me he has been craving sloppy joes lol. If it was up to him though he would just go buy the stuff in the can, yuck!!! I'm not the biggest fan of sloppy joes, but I will at least give it a try. Hope everyone has had a great day, I'll catch up later :) :)

Nothing worse than waking up too early Shona. Hope you were able to catch a nap this afternoon. I couldn't understand Fitzpatrick either and I was getting frustrated ... I don't want to say too much more until Janet sees the movie so I don't spoil it. Way too cool though that you recognized a lot of the places. There have been a few shows and movies in which we too recognized the scenery shot in NJ and it was neat.
Beef stew sounds great! One of my favorites.

Most of the turtles in Florida live in the water thus my term "water turtle" Bren. There are all kinds but I just group them into one category so as not to confuse them with land turtles like the Box turtle.

Hi Michelle and Karen! Sloppy Joes are great too. I remember getting a sloppy joe at a café once and when I got it I looked at it and thought "what the heck did they just give me?" because I was handed a deli sandwich of lunchmeat with coleslaw in it. I thought everyone knew a sloppy joe was a hot sandwich made with ground beef.

I looked up the meaning of when a turtle crosses your path and since mine literally was at my front door of all places I thought it might be a sign regarding the sale of the house since we were talking a lot about it yesterday ... here is what it said ...
"He is usually giving you the message that “slow and steady wins the race” Pay attention to details in your current project and take your time with it. Don’t be tempted to skip steps or take short cuts. You will get there! Just trust in the process and stay in the moment. Bigger, stronger, faster are not always the best ways to reach your goals."
