Monday's Mittens!

  • chuckieb 6 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! Our temperatures dropped over night. It's -17C/1F this morning. There's a special weather statement in effect that we are going to have widespread snow accumulating tonight and tomorrow. Better dig my mittens out of the foyer closet

Since Jim and I have been home all weekend we're going to go into town today and go out somewhere for lunch. Haven't quite decided where.

For some reason I woke up at 6:45 this morning. Not too bad. I went to bed at 11. But Jim's still snoozing and now it's 7:30. I lit myself a little fire in the family room. Very cuddly. Just put the coffee on.

We've been working on trying to get Mom some of the money back that she had to pay to the hospital in Minnesota this past summer due to her Septic Shock episode. OHIP (our Provincial Health Plan) won't cover ambulance expenses but they may pay a portion of her hospital expenses. We've been calling the Hospital and getting Mom to forward on paperwork that she's received and today I think we can assemble it all and mail it in and see what happens. Anything back would be better than nothing.

I suspect we will have a big lunch so I'll just wing dinner.

Have to mail off all the Christmas cards I've done up so far and also send off Mom's Christmas parcel.

Should be a fun day. What's everyone else up to?

    Have a good one everybody!

Good morning Janet! Wow, 1F?? Now that is freezing lol! Cute mitten pictures, I should get my kids that double mitten and make them wear it and hold hands when they are fighting as punishment :-P Hopefully you can get your Mom back some of her money, every little bit helps I'm sure.

I'm still trying to catch up from my sleep from this weekend lol. Took a small nap yesterday while the kids watched a movie and went to bed around 10p and I am still struggling to wake up this morning. Going to head to the gym after I drop off Caiden, then come home and start wrapping gifts! I have a few done under the tree but we just got a whole lot more in the mail on Saturday plus I need to wrap.

Last night Bri made some request for dinners for this week, which makes my job a little easier lol! She asked for grilled chicken salad (tonight), gumbo (tomorrow night) and baked fish (Wed. or Thurs.). She has recently become a fish lover, so I'm SUPER happy about that :-D Wishing everyone a great day!!

Morning Michelle! LOL @ making Bri and Caiden wear the heart mitten when they're fighting. Good luck at the gym and have fun wrapping presents. Do you do the whole ribbon, bow, gift tag thing? That's great Bri had some menu requests. As you say, it makes your job easier not having to think of the entire menu on your own.

Good Morning Everyone! We had a low of 43(f)! last night. Brrrrrrrrrr. LD slept in his pajamas too. Haven't had to break them out in some time. LOL!

Our farmers market was this morning. Picked up small white boiling potatoes, 2 tomatoes, cilantro, Romaine, beets, sugar snap peas, garlic, and spinach. Also bought a Christmas present for me ... a Young Living Essential Oils starter kit. I wanted Frankincense oil and the kit included it so I thought to myself, why not. I'll use everything so it's not like it's money poorly spent.

1(f) is bitter cold Janet!! I always wonder how the little birds feet don't freeze and fall off. With snow coming I don't blame you for wanting to get out today. Hope you get money back for your mom's medical expenses. Every bit helps and too it's rightfully hers.

Hope your day is an easy one today Michelle so your body and mind can recoop. Nice when you get requests for meals, it does make it easier to not always be the one thinking up dinners.

Pulled out the dough I had in the fridge and will make a pizza for lunch. Not sure what'll be for dinner tonight but I do know some fresh veggies and a salad will be on the menu. We went out last night because we were in all weekend and just needed to get out. I had chicken pita tacos and DH had grilled salmon. The place we went has the best guacamole so I started with that and some chips.
Going to the gym later this afternoon.

What great finds you got at the Farmer's Market Linda! I would kill for a fresh garden tomato. We won't see any more of those 'til next July. :( The Essential Oil kit sounds really lovely. I don't know what Frankincense smells like either. LOL. I had a ton of turkeys at the feeder again today. Yum on pizza for lunch and your chicken pita tacos last night sounded delicious. Good luck at the gym.

Enjoy your lunch, Janet. I really hope your Mom can get back some of the money paid to the hospital in the States.

Too funny thinking of making Bri and Caiden wear that mitten when they are fighting, Michelle:) Very cool Caiden was able to see his first snow and you two had a small snowball fight. Good luck at the gym and have fun wrapping presents. Nice Bri is starting to like fish and letting you know what she likes for dinner.

So envious of your Farmer's Market, Linda! Unfortunately for us, we won't see fresh FM stuff until way after the winter is over. Essential oils come in handy for many things. Your dinner last night sounds yummy! Yum on pizza as well!

I am still coughing up a lung. Yesterday my doctor called about one of my other tests I had done. She just wanted to adjust my pills that I am taking. I mentioned I would be calling her office on Monday b/c of my cough. She said no one would be in her office on Monday so she called in a prescription for me which I will pick up when I am out this afternoon. I will be mailing all my Christmas cards today as well. we are supposed to get quite a snow storm tonight and all day tomorrow so I want to get as much done as I can when I am out today. We are having leftover roast beef and gravy mashed potatoes and carrots for dinner tonight.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Also, things look a little vague on FB as far as Tina is concerned. I wondered why Olivia posted a pic of her Mom and Dad and I have a feeling that Tina has passed away. From what I gather from the condolences on her wall. I don't know what to say I am in shock. I know she couldn't feel her arms or hands and was in terrible pain. Maybe her body was shutting down?

Oh My ... so sad to hear Tina passed away. I missed her chats here and was hoping things would get better for her. Did Olivia and Scotty get married yet? Maybe she was hanging in there till then and then her soul needed to be with her husband again. May she rest in peace and eternal happiness.

So sorry to hear you are still not feeling well Joce. Good the doctor called in a script for you and good for getting it today and whatever else you need before you are in for the storm.

Yes, Olivia and Scotty are married. Tina was unable to attend. They just got back from their Honeymoon in Tennessee. Yes, she will be with her beloved Fred and Tyler now.

At least she got to know they were married even if she couldn't attend. I'm sure that's all she wanted was to know they were together and Olivia would have someone. I'm so sad she is gone. Fred is her husband ... I believe then she had a son who too passed away ... that's tough loosing a child.

Tina died? Really. I'm in shock. I know she wasn't in good health. I last messaged her Nov. 17th just before Liv's wedding and she was in hospital.

I'm sorry you're still so sick Joce. :( That's really nice your Dr. sent a prescription in for you without you having to go to the office. Thank you for telling us about Tina. I messaged Lori. She didn't know anything. Good on you getting all your Christmas cards mailed off. I mailed off a ton today but still have more to go. Leftover roast beef and all the fixin's sounds wonderful.

Karen, you've been very quiet. Wasn't sure if you were back from your shopping trip. Hope all went well.

Can't help but think of Pat meeting Tina at the Pearly Gates with a cocktail. Indeed she'll now be back together with Tyler and Fred. Rest in peace dear friend. Gentle hugs.

Sad to hear about Tina. FB was very vague but I hadn’t been on that much. She was so unhappy hopefully she is in a better place. She had a good heart. Back when she was really struggling I had sent her a little care package. Fragrances from work and diet stuff from WW. Nothing that cost me anything but shipping. Fred was still alive and a while later he got a small inheritance and she sent me a nice card with a $30 check in it telling me to get a manicure on her. Hope she gets to see Pat. I still miss her saying “this too shall pass”

Janet, I have just been running amuck lately....no time to breathe, much less to sit down at the computer.

    Hi everyone.

I checked Tina's FB page but the last dated post was November 30. There were no condolences. I am not FB friend with Olivia so don't know what she has posted. I am sure she is at peace.

Tina has her settings set so that no one can post on her page. I'm friends with Liv on FB but it wasn't obvious to me and I didn't see all the messages. Now that I read through I see it.

I will always remember Tina, just as I do Pat. We touch each other lightly out here in the ether, but we do touch each other. Goodbye Tina and thank you for your warmth.
