Monday's Monday

    Good morning.

It is starting to rain....looks promising but the powers that be have lowered expected amount to .3 inch. I woke up at 6 so no more sleeping, and am curled up in the recliner with my iPad and two cats.

Puppy is back home. He was a hoot to care for. Fritz had an abundance of exercise. After they left last night the poor dog just wanted to go to bed. He had enough of puppy shenanigans. We get him back Friday.

I think a cup of coffee is beckoning. I hear the Keurig calling my name.

You're up and about early Karen! Good Morning! LOL that the puppy managed to tire Fritz out. I've just pressed the coffee button myself and are looking forward to a cup.

Waaaay too early to know what I'm going to make for dinner this evening although I am leaning towards
    Chicken Bake Samm
    We'll see.

Have to do a few errands today. Jim wants to get his hair cut and we need some new chlorine tablets for the hot tub.

How was the Soda bread Joce? Your Roast Chicken sounded delicious. Yay on the Porn people getting shooed off.

Sounds like you had a really nice weekend Kimmer. Cute @ Ferdinand. Nice that you found a new comforter and some solar lamps. I LOVE Elephant Ears!!!! My Mom's neighbour in Rainy River had a super green thumb and she planted Elephant Ears in these ginormous clay pots outside her house and they flourished. They were STUNNING! LOL @ red cabbage. :) Cheesy stuffed shells sounds scumptious. ROFL @ "ding, dong the porn is dead".

I had to raise my eyebrows yesterday Linda when I read that you thought you'd been eating crappy lately. I can't remember anything remotely bad that you have eaten except maybe the Hamburger at Ford's Garage!!!! You are probably the healthiest eater I've ever known!

I see Michelle's soda bread review in IMI11 and it looks amazing! Michelle where have you been this weekend? Was there another tournament?

Jim and I had a nice day yesterday. We drove to Pakenham and visited the General store there as well as Penny's Fudge Factory where I got a bunch more little treats to bring to Taiwan. :) Then to Blakeney where we had a lovely walk around the rapids and then lunch in Almonte at the Superior restaurant. I had a nice bowl of tomato macaroni soup and Jim had a toasted Western and then we split a small plate of fries and gravy as their gravy is the best we've ever had anywhere. There's an herb or spice or something they put in it that we can't identify.

Wishing everyone a great Monday! Laurie....how's the snow depth? :)

    Good Morning Everyone.

My goodness Karen, you are up early. That's great Fritz has another dog to play with, actually good for them both and good that there is a break between visits for them to rest up. I guess any amount of rain is good but it would be nice if you got more.

Your day out yesterday sounded fun Janet. Good Luck with your errands today. Maybe you can squeeze something fun in too. Nice on the treats you are bringing on your trip. I can't wait to hear about the ones you bring back with you!
If spoonfuls of cold hot fudge sauce, chocolate chip cookies, potato chips, French fries, and too much bread count as healthy eating then I succeeded (LOL!). My body always feels it when I eat too much sugar/carbs and my joint (especially my neck) start aching.

Sipping a cold brew right now and too thinking about dinner ... do I make something or do we go out ... I'm leaning in the "go out" direction only because I'm tired of cooking. Going to the gym this afternoon and work out the achiness. Tomorrow I want to start checking out plants and how appropriate that it'll be the first day of SPRING!

I think it is great that Fritz has a doggy friend to play with and the plus is tiring them both out. Enjoy your coffee and too bad you were up so early.

Glad you had such a good day out yesterday, Janet. the Irish Soda bread turned quite well. I will review in IMI11 when I get a chance. Hope you get all your errands done today.

I would go out for dinner, Linda. It is a nice change of pace and would be good for you after you have gone to the gym.

Not much happening heat today as usual. We will be having pork chops for dinner. No idea on sides yet. I will be just puttering around the house. It needs a good dusting that is for sure.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Sounds like you had a good day yesterday, Janet. I haven’t figured out supper either. Had a cinnamon bagel for breakfast....should have had an egg, however, what is done is done.

Definitely go out, Linda! Enjoy! We have puppy Friday and Saturday, maybe Sunday. So Fritz will have a fun time with a few days to rest.

We had precious little rain. Fingers crossed it will ignore the forecast and pour. !it started raining but is off and on.

Wayne has a fire going....or trying to. We need to put some small pieces on so the larger one catches. Then type fire Dept minutes for the meeting tonight. The rain hit as he stArted walking back to the house.

I didn’t know there was a connection between sugar / carbs and joint pain. I guess my breakfast was not conducive to joint health! Ha ha!

    Missed your post, Joce!

It is raining - yippee! Mel is asleep beside me and AC is on the arm of the recliner, his rotund body draped on top of poor Mel.

I don't usually bring a lot back with me from Taiwan. That being said we have always in the past just had carry on and this time we are bringing one extra suitcase, so I will have room. :)

I hadn't heard about the chocolate chip cookies or french fries Linda. LOL. You were good having just one spoon full of hot fudge sauce with peanut butter as a treat I thought. :) Interesting that eating too much bread makes your joints hurt. I usually have a slice of toast in the morning with my egg but don't eat a lot of it otherwise. Bread is actually one of the things I wouldn't mind giving up if I had to although I do prefer my hamburger in a bun as opposed to wrapping it a piece of lettuce like I know some people do. Go you at the gym and hope you have a nice dinner out.

Yum on pork chops Joce. Won't it be nice when we can open the windows and let some fresh air in the house!!! I have to dust a lot more during the winter as we get fall out from our pellet stove and the fireplace. Mind you, pollen season is bad for dusting too. LOL!

Good luck with the minutes Karen.

My Aunt Irene just called me. She turns 90 this year. She is so awesome. The sweetest thing ever.

It's carbs and sugar as a collective for me Janet. I lump them into one category. A slice of homemade toasted bread in the morning, a chocolate chip cookie or two, if I have a sandwich for lunch, snacks of pretzels or whatever, bun on a hamburger, fries, potato, pasta, etc., I even count a drink in this category. I don't go crazy and eat tons of the stuff but feel it if I go beyond my boundaries of comfort.
I recently discovered Tate's Bake Shop cookies and just adore them. They are thin and crunchy. I have 2 chocolate chips left and won't buy more for some time. If they are here I eat them.

Pork Chops for dinner sound good Joce. I made one for DH yesterday. I love pork chops cooked in tomato sauce and shredded. Of course with all the traditional Italian seasonings to make a pork ragu of sorts for pasta.

    Is it still raining Karen?

Going to go to Blue Point Oyster for dinner. It's one of our favorite places. Not sure yet what I'm in the mood for.

So what do think you would bring back from Taiwan, Janet? If we ever went to Austria again I would pick up dark chocolate Toblerone direct from the factory. So yummy!

Linda, I could forget bread anytime with no regret. Haven’t tried burgers in lettuce wraps but it does sound good, if I wrap it myself and not order one at a restaurant. Picky, I guess.

We watched Star Trek II the wrath of Khan. The third in the series should be on tomorrow or thereabouts so we will either watch or record it for later. Have seen the entire series, but always up for another. Esp. the original series.

Good afternoon and hello to all. Just a quick Hi. Dreary and damp here today. Sun has tried to peek thru a couple of times. Suppose to have rain and thunderstorms tomorrow. We can certainly use the rain as well. Nice restaurant menu Linda! I would have either the filet with lobster or the crab cakes! Pork chops sound good Joce!

Finally getting around to making stuffed shells. Will have that and just a salad to go with.

Enjoy the rest of the day all!

Well, we all know our own Kryptonite eh? :) Mine are, as I've mentioned before, potato chips. Crave em, try not to buy them, if their anywhere around, I will eat them. :) Unfortunately or fortunately, however you want to look at it, they have neat interesting potato chips flavours in Taiwan too. :)

I've never had anything like that Pork Ragu Linda. I love it when everyone shares restaurant menus. LOL. Let's see what I would choose. Of course when you are choosing virtually you can order anything your heart desires without the consequences whether it be high priced or caloric intake. LOLOLOL.
Jim would totally start with the
Wild Blue Mussels white wine / garlic and I'll choose the Lobster Bites Sriracha aioli and then he would go with the Pan Seared Scallops balsamic brown butter for his main.
I'm having a hard time choosing between the
Salmon and Avocado Sliders Sriracha aioli /
lettuce / tomato / brioche bun or the
Chili Shrimp Capellini pan-fried shrimp /
Calabrian peppers / pancetta / arugula
I think I'd go with the shrimp. It's a gorgeous menu. Lots of things we'd love there. I can see why it's one of your favourite spots.

Benjamin was the sweetest kid this morning and sent us a rough itinerary of what he wants to do with us when we're visiting. Among a ton of awesome sounding jaunts it includes lunch at a Seafood Market in Donggang. Snorkeling is also on the agenda. I've only done it once when we were in Bonaire and I was just shocked at what lives under the water. LOLOLOL.

I'm not really fond of Taiwanese sweets Karen so that's pretty much off the list of what I'd bring home. They eat things that are flavoured with green or matcha tea or contain red bean paste. Bleck. Our first trip I bought myself a really pretty patterned vase from a neat little shop that only sold vases. I guess I've never thought a lot about it since we've never had the room to bring anything back. I have brought back little treats for my girlfriends in the past, weird flavoured ramen for example. When we return home we're going straight to a 50th birthday party for a cousin of Jim's so I will try find something fun in Taiwan to bring him as a birthday present. Taiwan's big big on Tea....they specialize in Oolong. Jade is a big thing too but I'm not huge into jade stuff. Maybe I'd buy a jade frog or a jade squirrel. LOL. I would join you with the dark Toblerone from Austria! :)

Yum on cheesy stuffed shells Kimmer. We finally have got some sunshine the last couple of days and boy does it do the heart good. I don't think people are good with too much cloud and rain.

I did end up going with
    Chicken Bake Samm
for dinner along with a baked potato (we always share one) and some beets with balsamic vinegar.

    Hi all!
Ugh we are getting another Nor’easter Wednesday. Snow from the last one hasn’t melted yet it’s too cold. I hate winter.
I had a weird GR dream last night but can’t remember most of it. The gist was someone was finally in charge and Linda got in trouble for making disparaging remarks about someone. Lol
We had burgers for dinner. And fries. I made myself butternut squash fries. They were precut at the grocery but had a funny vinegary taste so I didn’t eat many of them. Got these at Whole Foods but I have had them before from Market Basket and they were good.
I hear you on the achy neck and joints Linda. I feel the same way when I eat a lot of sugar. Do you think it’s from fibromyalgia?

More snow! Laurie. You have had more than enough. It’s Spring tomorrow, did anyone tell Mother Nature. Weird dream indeed. I think for me it’s inflamation in areas that are starting to get arthritis and sugar/carbs do bring on inflamation.

Dinner was great. I had salmon adobo style with spinach. DH had lemon sole with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Their signature side is a coleslaw made with blue cheese tossed with a vinaigrette dressing, it’s so good!

I usually forgo bread Karen unless it’s homemade and I had been making lots. I like the Star Trek series and movies.

Potato chips are gooooood Janet. Sounds like you’ll be doing lots on your vacation. Do you suffer jet lag when traveling?

    Yum on stuffed shells Kimmer.

Well, Laurie, we are getting about five snowflakes tomorrow....ha ha. It is cold and damp, lots of mist! You have had your share of snow for sure. I would happily take several inches off your hands, as we are short the needed amount. What a goofy sounding dream. Mine are often weird, or else the same two themes: lost and can’t find my way home or wherever I was going, or in college and wandering the halls. Can’t say I have dreamed about GR lately.

Linda, our damp rainy weather makes us both achy. My back improved lots, still aches but nowhere like last week. Your dinner sounds great.
