More Monday

    Good Morning Everyone.

This is the second batch of soap I made. It's unscented and the swirl is colored with activated charcoal. I thought this batch was going to be an epic fail but it surprised me … a lot! I changed my batter to use more liquid oil and didn't blend it much at all to keep it very "runny". When I poured it in the mold it leaked some and I thought "oh great" but then it started to tighten up and stopped. I thought the swirl was going to be a disaster based on how it looked in the mold. When I unmolded it, it was softer than my other batter and was sweating a lot. Today I it cut figuring I had nothing to loose and couldn't believe what I seen. I'm happy with it.
I have one more batch to make but haven't thought yet what to do thinking I was going to do the same trying again a charcoal swirl.

No plans yet for the day. No clue yet about dinner. I've got soap in my thoughts and obsessed with what to make today. LOL!!

The soap looks really nice, Linda! Yay on finding the formula!

I am sitting and doing nothing except for staying home and resting. The chemo effect seems to be establishing a pattern so it will be easier to anticipate good and bad days. No complaints!

The guys are working on the back porch. The entire thing is getting closer to being done and it will look nice when they finish. Change in plans........there is wood sawing needed and it would involve tracking in and out, so they decided to stop until Wednesday when it will hopefully be warmer and easier to keep the porch dry and clean. They have to go pick up one of the fire Dept vehicles from the shop. I will curl up and doze for a whille.

Otherwise all is well here in the Ozarks. We missed all the ice and snow.

    Have a nice day.

Oh Linda!!!! It's gorgeous! Wow! I don't think I've ever seen such lovely swirls in soap before. I get now what you were after.

You're a trooper Karen and good for you figuring it all out. Take it easy today. Get a good nap or two in. How did you sleep last night? Glad the bad weather missed you.

I made Poached eggs on toast with fried tomatoes for breakfast. Yesterday Jim totally cleared out the broom closet and did a coat of paint in it (white to make it nice and clean and bright....it'd been a dull pale yellowy cream colour before). He's going to do a second coat this morning and then we're going to go out for a walk to get our steps in. After lunch we need to do a Grocery store and Costco run. I'm out of Black Oil sunflower seed.

Decided to go out for dinner tonight which is rare for us. Are going to the Open Mic Night at the Juke Joint Kitchen in Carp. About a 20 min. drive

I think they have a Fish n' Chip special on Monday nights as well.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

That's good Karen that you are able to predict the course of the chemo, know what to expect, and know best what to do. No surprises and you can prepare. Hope you feel better. Reading a good book can occupy some time while you are nestled down. Either that or catch up on a show or two.

Nice change of pace going out for dinner Janet. Helps with the cabin fever for sure. I'm in the mood for the veggie burger. Nice on getting the closet painted. I've always painted my closets except I like to paint them a strong color figuring you only see it when you open the door but a color that goes with the house … sorta like an accent wall but an accent closet.

Now that I know this batter recipe works, and I have more time to color portions, I will try using 2 or 3 color swirls. You should see the soaps the more experienced soapers make, gorgeous, and a great inspiration. I follow a FB page and a site that has a chat board and the people on them are awesome, always willing to help as best they can.

Enjoy dinner out, Janet! It sounds like a cool place!

Love the accent closet idea Linda!

Yes, a general idea of where chemo Is headed does help. I have about seven to ten days afterward that are iffy or just plain yukky. But nothing that is horrible. Can’t wait for my head-covers to arrive so I have a variety.

Slept some this morning and longer this afternoon.

Yay for nothing horrible Karen. I can tell you`re a strong lady so that will see you through in good stead. Are the head covers a solid colour or patterned? Glad you got a bit of rest.

Well, Jim and I wimped out on dinner. LOL. We had a really nice long walk and came back and had leftover Beef Barley soup for lunch. Then headed in to town. Went to Costco. Got the large jar of Better Than Chicken Bouillion which I was really happy about as they were out of stock last week. I bought a huge jug of fresh apple cider for $5.49. Had a glass when I got home and it`s yummy. I want to do some hot mulled cider for Jim and I to enjoy in the evenings. Will start it up in the crock pot tomorrow afternoon.

Went to Home Depot as Jim wanted to buy some wood to build me a new shelf in the broom closet. We ran in to people we used to know when we belonged to the Cross Country Ski Club and sat in the aisle and chatted for a good 20 minutes. Then off to Sobey`s for a few last grocery items but by then it was going on 5:30, it`s pitch black and it`s freezing cold. So the thought of coming home, unloading everything and then heading out again did not appeal. LOLOL. So here I sit now in front of the fire in my p.j.`s with a Virgin Caesar and my lap top. We picked up a rotisserie chicken at Sobey`s and I`ll mix up some Swiss Chalet sauce and serve it alongside the leftover potato salad from the other night. We shall try for the Open Mic Night next Monday. :)

We had turkey tacos for dinner.
Rachel seems to be settling in in Hawaii
Becca has one more week before she goes back to umass.
Karen I hope it just gets easier and easier.
