My Oh My Monday

Good Afternoon Everyone ... My Oh My ... where is everyone?

Got an early start to the day. DH had a haircut appointment at 9:30 so LD and I went with him and after we ran errands then got burgers out for lunch.
The weather is beautiful! Sunny, cool, no humidity, and temps in the high 70's right now.
Haven't a clue what's for dinner and will finish cleaning, dusting actually.

What's everyone else up to today?

It is unusually quiet. I'm off to run a few errands and then I'm going to start packing the kitchen. There are things that I don't use that often and I may as well get a head start. Dinner will be pan seared salmon, roast cauliflower and rice.

Nothing going on, the boy is home from school sick...at least I got Sophia to school. I have Italian sausages, so I'm thinking of a soup or pasta dish.

Good Luck with your kitchen packing Bren. How long once started do you think your kitchen reno will take?

Thanks Linda. Waiting for DH, he's bring the boxes. We don't have a firm starting date but it should be mid Nov. Once started it should take 3-4 weeks for a fully functioning kitchen. I've been cooking and freezing meals because we're not take out people. There's a whole lot of stuff that isn't going back in. I've been waiting for this for years and have picked up new pots, dishes, cutlery ect. over the years. The cabinets will be here on Wed. and they will be taking over the family room, sigh...my quiet place.

Hi Shona. Yikes, another sick child. Italian sausages are always welcome here, enjoy!!

Hi Guys! Just a quick 'hello'! I'm at the local library for an update. JIm cut our Satellite cable with his chainsaw yesterday morning and we've been without internet since. Argh. Internet Company coming tomorrow to fix us back up. PIA. So annoying. LOL.
Making Shake n' bake chicken for dinner tonight with Shake n' Bake potato balls and spinach on the side.
Got 10 garbage cans full of leaves cleaned from the front yard yesterday and dumped in the woods and also planted some red and white "Canada 150th Anniversary" tulips for next year. This morning I cleaned out the BBQ. Yucky job. Need to order a couple of new parts as some have rusted through.
We ran some errands earlier and had Dim Sum at Hockey Sushi.
Good luck with your kitchen packing Bren. Your dinner sounds lovely. Jim's cousin in Montreal just went through a reno. They didn't order their cabinetry until they'd done some demo work and that really held the job up. The reno from start to finish lasted three months. I know that is totally not normally the way it goes but I felt horrible for them. Imagine, no proper kitchen for three months! They were doing their dishes in the basement laundry room all that time. However, all that aside, it now looks fabulous and is a total great change from how it used to look. Are you guys putting in the cabinets yourselves?
Italian sausages sound great Shona. Hope Colter feels better soon.
Hope you haven't died of boredom Linda! :)
Talk with you guys tomorrow....the good Lord willing. LOLOLOL.

I usually get into trouble in the kitchen when I'm bored, Linda. It starts of with "I'll just make this" and then "while I'm here" and the next time I look at the clock it hours later, haha.

Yikes!!! on the cable, Janet. Yumm on the shake and bake, I haven't had that in ages.

That's a lot of leaves!! I haven't had Dim Sum in years, must remedy that.

I've heard about the tulips but couldn't find them anywhere.

Yes. I seen and heard of horror stories about kitchen reno's. One of my clients did a custom kitchen and there was one delay after the other and took nine months from start to finish. Then I have another client that had their's start on a Monday and the finishing touches were done on the next Friday.

We're having the company do the demo. It's a flat fee if they take out one tile or the whole kitchen. I wish that I knew someone that did tile because that is also a flat fee. They calculate the total wall space and charge according to the space regardless of the number of cupboards on the walls. The company is also installing the cupboards. We've reno'd a lot of houses in our day and just don't want to do that anymore.

    Fingers crossed for tomorrow, Janet.
