Dang it's cool. High 50s in the middle of August! Almost soup weather!

Makes me want to do some cooking! Maybe I can finish building my stoplight stuffed peppers that has been cruising around in my head for the last few days.

Haven't decided yet. Did my shopping but haven't completely finished the weekly plan.

I am making spicy pimento cheese for celery stuffing. (My lunch box) Might make an olive and jalapeno cream cheese and use up those pricy olives hanging out in the frig.

Very little tuna loaf left. And they doubted me. HA!

Going to fix my Sunday pot of pintos for our back-up plan meals. Last count in the pantry, I had seven bags of dried beans. We will be eating them a lot. Good thing they are so versatile and can be mashed smashed, pureed, refried, and as a soup.

Have to prep ahead, or evenings would be much to stressful.

I'm raising my hand and waving wildly for some of the cooler weather too. Send some please.

Pat, I hope your daughter's foot is healing well. Best of luck to her.

Have a wonderful "J" Day, Laurie. The menu sounds wonderful. I still have to find that kugel recipe.....Fred would really like it and it would last more than one day. Hmm, off to search.

Thanks for the compliments on Liv. I forgot what a labor of love French Braiding hair is when you have fibromyalgia. My arms were killing me and she has short hair...I just couldn't hold them that high for very long. She did look cute.

And yes, you would never know what you could find in Fred's magic closet. Tambourine, a real one, not a plastic one. And neither of us can carry a tune in a bucket, much less sing in a bar. But it made everyone laugh, as well as his purple velvet pimp hat. The saddest part is that this is stuff he won't get rid of, ever. Good grief, he has the jaw mold from when they rebuilt his face from the accident in 1979.
It is creepy. It is next to the pictures from his colonoscopy. He has his heart surgery on DVD. He wanted my c-section too, but I had to draw the line there. There are some things that should never see the light of day.

Okay, I'm going to make jalapeno cream cheese burgers. Some one just posted it and they look so good on DDD that I have to make those tonight. Just have to figure out the sides.....might just do chips for fun, some pickles. Sliced tomatoes with minced garlic and oil/vinegar for our salad. Or cherry tomatoes with peppers, onions and feta in vinaigrette. That would work well.

Liv wants brownies....Fred is requesting a cheesecake. Oy, I wanted to make cheater's biscotti. Looks like a coin toss to me.

I know what you mean with the French braids....Rebekah was convinced she was Dorothy Gale for a good year and just "had" to have her hair braided....And her hair was down to her knees...I was so tempted to cut it more than once!!!!....LOL

Took a ride and checked out a few local farm stands and then hit the flea market....Home now and hugging the a/c....

Doing Chile Rellanos for supper...Got some great poblanos at the farm stand!!!

Finally got that recipe out of my head and onto my word processor. Made the recipe and some pics. Haven't had time to post yet. It's called "Stoplight Stuffed Peppers".

It's a green bell pepper stuffed with a peeled tomato with a jumbo shrimp in the bottom covered with a Portabella/onion sauce topped with Parmesan and cheddar.

Mother is making up words to describe how good she thinks it is. Of course I'm a little more critical. It has a nice savory flavor but I would have liked the sauce to pop a little more. Maybe a touch of vinegar next time.

Nice easy day here today. Clear, mid 60's, and breezy. I'm gonna grill some filet mignons, eat the last of the potato salad (Thank God, get it outta the way) and some cheesy broiled tomatoes for an appy. Martini of course!

Points, unusually cool here too for mid Aug. and those Spotlight peppers sound heavenly, can't wait to see 'em!

Laurie, have fun with your 'J' food party.

Pat, Sounds good, especially the cauliflower and cheese sauce. Good luck to your daughter...

Tina, I'm sending the cool weather down your way............ Knew they'd eat the tuna loaf! remember next time, no preview.....LOL I just saw the pics of your daughter - sooo cute. I love it. LOL to Fred's jaw mold, too much! I can't wait to see the pics of you and Fred! Those jalepeno cream cheese burgers sound good, I'll have to check 'em out.

Wynne, I love flea markets and farm stands, and Chile Rellenos too!

    God my neck is STIFF!!!!!!!

    Hi everyone!...

I am missing good old home cookin - been down south the past week and all I have been eating is restaurant food - ugh...

went to franklin, tn yesterday with my birth mom - we had a blast - sitting out on a sidewalk restaurant watching the tourists and their doggies walk by....beautiful shops and all...I should tell her to come to this site (my birth mom) to find recipes for her poblano peppers she bought at a latino flea market we visited - what a hoot, great prices too!

Im in GA tonight and tomorrow night visiting my aging and ailing adopted mom - and will be heading back to NY (all by car no less) but I will tell you, we all have a beautiful country - TN, WV, VA, etc.... so gorgeous!

sorry knox - ended up going straight to GA....time was of concern...

Leah! Lori and I were wondering about you. I told her it was probably a traffic thing or a time thing---believe me--we were covered up this week, it would have pinched us all to meet up that day!!! We are just glad for you to be experiencing this!!

It's roasted chicken legs over here tonight. Fried cheese grits (cheese grits chilled into a loaf shape, cut into slices then fried in bacon drips) and a fresh veggie.

OHMYMAUDE!!! Our pals from Mississippi made me one of their world famous caramel cake!! Gahhhhhhhhh! It is heaven on a plate. They burn the sugar to make it in an iron skillet. Best thing since a lint roller. really.

Hugs to all and happy Sunday--

"J" night was changed to international night because we had some coronas and chips and salsa. Everything was great I am stuffed to the gills. my friend bought bubble gum flavored vodka. It tasted like bubblicious. kind of gross we mixed it with ginger ale. She liked it but I stuck with the Manachevitz, which was so sweet I had to add ginger ale too. Hubby had red wine.
