Salmon for Saturday

    Good Morning Everyone!
Tina, that guy in the group avatar is a hoot. Wherever did you find that picture? Jim likes to string people along and he's famous for saying ridiculous things with a straight face so a person isn't quite sure whether or not to believe him. Years ago he'd told our hair dresser that he dressed up every May Day and wore a crown of flowers. She said she didn't believe him but you could tell there was a seed of doubt. So the next time we went to see her it was May Day and Jim fashioned this 'wreath' out of I don't even remember what and collected some bits of this and that and decorated it. You should have seen her face when he walked in. It was priceless. Jim's attire wasn't nearly as big as the guy in the avatars, but it was amusing nonetheless. Congrats to your Lightening. They got the job done. I fell asleep at one point myself and was surprised to see it'd gone into 2nd overtime.
You had a long day yesterday Marie. The taco catering part sounded good. :) Good luck with the mowing today. Goodness on your Dad having to get stitched up. Glad to hear he's okay! I'd imagine that spring time would be one of Rick's busiest times of year?
Pic below of my Bloody Shrimp Cocktail last night. It turned out quite well and I enjoyed it. Especially the horseradish. :) I'm going to try two more new recipes this evening for dinner. An asparagus fritter out of a Korean recipe book and Salmon Bulgogi with Bok Choy and mushrooms.
I want to finish up my gardening today hopefully. I find when Jim is home all the time I get 'pulled' into the things he wants to work on. I have to work on that. :) Jim wants to bring up the desk from the basement to put in the new 'office' and plant the pear trees and forsythia that we bought this past week.
There is a nature walk from 1-3 I think going on this afternoon not far from where we are so we might go on that.
    Wishing everyone a great day.

I love the avatar too! LOL Den likes to string people along as well and he is very good at it. However I don't think he would dress up to do the finishing touch like Jim did! That is hilarious what he did to your hairdresser:) We have some things to do in the garden as well. Our Baby Blue Spruce survived the winter along with everything else we planted and they will all have to get a good feeding to start off the year. I will have to do some weeding and cleaning up and also get some ammonia for the hostas as well. I love the pics and I hope your Korean Salmon recipe turns out well. The asparagus fritter sounds delicious too! It should be a great day for a nature walk with everything starting to bud or sprout now. I really hope your Mom got a good deal on the guns.

Marie, I hope your Dad is feeling much better today. Very cool on the taco catering! Don't overdo it mowing the back forty today.

Karen, Are you going to the auction today?

Michelle, I think the finger food idea for a theme for your themed parties. I am guessing you will be busy with ball games and other things today.

Shona, How are things out west?

MichelleB, How was your first week in Fiji?

Tina, Are you getting better at using your new bed? A good idea to get Lola spayed no doubt she will settle down after that is done.

Den went to do his beer run and to pick up a few groceries we needed. He is having his normal cheeseburgers and fries for dinner. I am undecided on what I want for dinner at this point in time. I will let you know later. Oh yes I will have to make sure watch the Kentucky Derby today! I will go check out the horses that are running and the post time.
Then I will let you know what horses I will pick to win.

    Later Gators!

Good Morning Joce! Yum on Den's cheeseburger and fries. Fun on the Kentucky Derby. I always love the fun names the horses have. Based on the list you provided us with I'm going to cross my fingers for "Carpe Diem". :)

The fellow in the avatar is wearing his Derby day finest. I had looked at some other outrageous hats but he struck me as the most cheerful. The women looked snooty. He looked fun. I bet he had a bit of Kentucky's finest bourbon encouraging his get up.

I absolutely love that Jim pulled the prank on the hairdresser. So funny. I think your day sounds lovely. I did watch the full game and the second OT had me on edge. So this is hockey!! I believe I could get hooked. Salmon sounds good. It was 9.99 a lb. for farm raised, not wild caught. I'm not buying it. Your Bloody Shrimp cocktail looks so yummy.

Joce, thanks for the link to the horses. I am setting an alarm to make sure I won't nod off and forget to watch. I'll join Den in a burger, no fries. I think I might make some homemade pimento cheese as a burger topping.

Olivia is working a double shift today, serving breakfast and taking a break and then going back to tend bar for the boxing match tonight. The Toasted Monkey is the only bar on SPB to buy the right to show the fight on closed circuit. It was well over 8K to buy the package. They are sold out of reserved seats and a two drink minimum. I sure hope there isn't a knockout in the first round, they would never make their money back. I don't like the sport of pugilism.

Charlie is being his most handsome self today. His muzzle is greying but his face is still regal. He has me totally trained instead of vice versa.

The bed is so much easier to get into, but I need a bed rail to steady me as I stand up. We kind of rigged my walker to help me stand but I ordered a more sturdy rail. The only disadvantage in this bedroom. It is bright!! my black out drapes won't fit these windows. The sunshine disturbs my vampire tendencies.
Well, I have laundry to do and the dishwasher to unload.

The fruit fly issue is diminishing by the hour. The trap is disgusting. It smells yucky.

Have a good day my friends.

ROFL. I didn't realize the guy was dressed up for the Derby. That's great. :) Good smile Tina. :) Jim was telling me about that Boxing Match. The one guy sounds pretty crazy. Plus it costs a heck of a lot if you download the match to your TV. There's no way I'd ever spend that on anything for the TV. I can't even imagine the bar making its money back on that. I don't like that sport either.

Hi all! Wanted to stop in really quick and say hi :) Just got back from Caiden's game...he played really well, I think this was his best game yet! Sometimes he feels like it's more of a chore than to just have fun, and today he seemed to be having fun. My mom came to the game and then took the kids for the night, yay! We are going out for our anniversary tonight. We usually go somewhere far, fancy, new to us and expensive for our anniversary but this year we just want to go somewhere laid back, close and familiar so we are going to Nobi. Will probably hang out there try a few new beers (they always have something different that they've brewed up) eat and then meet up with Ashley and Albert at the bar we usually go to. I'm SO looking forward to tonight...I really needed to get away from my kids (mainly Caiden lol) and have some adult time away from home. Anyway, I'll catch up tomorrow, hope everyone had a great day!

    Hi Joce, Janet, and Tina.

I agree on the boxing dislikes!

Love horses. The Kentucky Derby has so much tradition behind it. The closest I ever got was when I tried a mint julep once at a Kentucky Derby themed party, and oh, was that ever good.

Jim's "wreath" must have been hilarious.

So Charlie is at his best? Cute. Glad the bed is working for you. Be careful.

We went to the auction - the .44 Mag (stainless steel barrel, stainless steel scope) started at $1,000 and sold for $1,450. A new gun is about $699 and the scope is about $135. No, we did not buy it - could get a new one for less. I have noticed that used guns sell as high or higher than new ones at auctions. Duh!

It is a beautiful, sunny day outside. Take care, all. See you later.

Have a wonderful time tonight Michelle. As Jim and I get older we tend to enjoy laid back more than fancy for dining out establishments. The main thing is the company right? :) Have a great time.
Sounds like you had a good time at the auction Karen. Sunny here too. Just lovely.
I got the whole back garden cleaned out and now have to do the side patio with the herb garden. Maybe tomorrow. Jim and I went on our nature walk. Saw pretty blue butterflies, a small garter snake and some Red Trilliums.
Time for a hot tub and a cocktail. :)
