Satellite Saturday

  • LindaLMT 6 years ago
Good Morning Everyone ... It's Satellite Saturday, today Directv is suppose to be here to fix the dish so we have tv connection again. Suppose to come between 12 - 4 and I'm hoping it's more towards 12 so it's done and I can do something else today other than sit around waiting.

Things are still a mess here and will be for a while. The immediate surrounding area isn't bad for us. We went to Publix yesterday to pick up groceries and the ride there was fine. Lots of debri swept off to the sides of the road and some trees down but that was all we could see. We even had mail delivered yesterday.
Not much else going on today. Not sure what to make for dinner either. Maybe we will go out for a change of pace and get out of the house.
    How's your Saturday looking?

Good Morning Linda! Hope the satellite person shows up asap. They must have busy schedules after that Hurricane eh! Wow on mail being resumed again so soon. That's great. Guess that Postmen's creed rings true! "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night....." :)

It is yet another gorgeous day here in the Ottawa Valley. Our wood pellets are being delivered this morning to keep us warm during those cold, frigid months that lay ahead. :) Once that is done Jim and I are heading to the local Farmer's market. I've SO missed it! From there we are driving to Carleton Place which is hosting a "Doors Open" event today. 11 buildings will be open to the public to poke through. We have been to the Doors Open in Ottawa before but never Carleton Place so it should be a most enjoyable jaunt. I went on Trip Advisor and found that there is a Mexican Place there that gets very good reviews so that's what we'll do for lunch. Cabano Kitchen.

Our dinner last night was lovely. No clue what to make for tonight's dinner so I may wing it and hope I come across something while we're out and about.

Did I tell you that Benjamin's girlfriend Angel who is back in the Philippines now has just bought new equipment and rented a retail space to open her own bakery? Benjamin says he's incredibly proud of her and I think it's a very fun venture. She is hoping to get another contract in Taiwan starting in January and while she is away family members will take over the running of the bakery. I think it's very cool that she is so entrepreneurial.

Going to make some watermelon juice first thing and if I have the time I'll also whip up another batch of Gazpacho.

The movie "The Comedian" that we watched last night was quite good. A LOT of swearing, but we got some good chuckles.

Glad you caught a mouse Karen.

Wishing everyone a really great Saturday!

Well, I got my watermelon juice made but the pellet guy is here already so the Gazpacho won't happen 'til later this afternoon if we get home in time. Ham, mushroom, onion and cheese omelettes for brekkie when Jim comes in. :)

That's so cool Angel is opening a bakery. Good for her!! Wishing her much success with it. And fingers crossed she will get her contract and be back in Taiwan so she and Benj. can be together again.
I'll have to look for the movie Janet.

Yea on catching the mouse Karen. They may be coming in too knowing the winter ahead ... Hope that's not the case.

Decided we will go out for dinner. I'm tired of cooking and cleaning.

I also hope the satellite guy comes closer to noon, Linda. I hate these four-hour windows companies have these days. Why not say they will be there at 1:00 P.M. like they used to do many years ago. Excellent things are starting to get up and running again. Have you called the place where DH stays to find out how they made out with the storm?

Enjoy your breakfast and the Farmer's Market, Janet. I wonder what buildings in Carleton Place are worthy of being in "Open Doors". I always find Carleton Place quit dreary and uninteresting. IMHO. I hope you enjoy your afternoon anyways. My cousin's wife in the Philippines has her own spa and is doing quite well with it as well. They must be quite industrious people. Glad to hear Ben is so proud of Angel.

Glad you caught the mouse, Karen.

    How is Oreo, Michelle?

Den went to get an oil change for his car then after that, he was supposed to do grocery shopping and he isn't back yet? It must be busy out there today? After he comes home and puts things away he will run out and pick up MacDonald's for us. He will have grilled cheeseburgers and oven fries and I am not sure what I am going to have yet. I need to do some weeding and Den will mow the lawn after we eat. Other than that not much going on here today.
    Wishing everyone a great day!

I forgot to mention how nice of you to donate the canned food etc. to those in need, Linda.

I too hate the 4 hour windows Joce, especially when you sit around all day and they come at 4:00. I have not called DH's place ... I figure they had enough to do and no news is good news. I'll know well enough when I bring him back Sunday after dinner. He is already getting sad about it but too bad. I need a break. I'm thinking by the end of the year he'll be home to stay anyhow, it's expensive and he really doesn't fully utilize the place. I'll have to figure out what to do with him to give me a break when he does come home.
Hope you get all your weeding done and the rest of your day is enjoyable.

Hope you enjoy your dinner out, Linda. I imagine the satellite companies are super busy! They never seem to be within the window.....wonder how they would respond if we told them due to having to work we would be home between 5 and 6!

Good you have your wood supply in, Janet. Supposedly our winter is to be colder and now they are saying more snow! Who knows! What will be will be.

Our lawn needs mowing in spots but won't be getting it today, Joce.

We had breakfast in Edgar Springs. They were out of wraps so no breakfast burrito. Sigh. Wayne had eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast and extra gravy. I had half order biscuits and gravy. Have two errands to run then it is back to laundry......the clothes just don't want to wash themselves!! 😌.

    Have a nice day everyone.

PS. It was a very fat mouse. Wondering what it has been eating to gain all that weight? Hmmm. We have a trap under the tv cabinet now so any more little rodents that find their way inside will not have a friendly reception.

Yes, you will probably find something for DH after he isn't staying at that place to give you a break, Linda. I would be inquiring into it by asking around.

Lol, I bet the fat mouse has been eating cat food, grain or something like that, Karen. Sort of reminds me of the mouse in Cinderella. I should know his name the GD's watched that movie so much when they were little.

YEA, we have our satellite back and can watch tv again. Seems the dish lost it's alignment which isn't a surprise. It looked to me like it was aligned but it wasn't. Nice kid too that came out. He is over one town to the east and still doesn't have electric. So again, no complaints and counting my blessings.

Yum on breakfast out Karen. Always nice especially the clean up.

Great to hear you now have your satellite back up and running. No kidding not surprising it was out of alignment after what it went through. Surprising it was still there. Tina is still without power they expect it possibly Tuesday and the heat is just killing her. They drive around in the car to get cool and charge their phones.
