Saturday Solitude

It is 5:30 and I am curled up, wide awake, in my recliner in the RV. We have a big day ahead....his reunion is this afternoon. They plan on touring a "castle" built in 1928. It is an hour tour and the building not air conditioned. I may opt out and let him carry on. Ha ha. Undecided.

Fritz is doing well now that we are stationary. He is happy to get canned dog food, sort of a bribe to eat because he doesn't want dry dog food. Silly dog!

The RV park is well maintained and quiet. Most are permanent sites. There are lots of dogs, mostly small breeds. Fritz discovered a flapping flag to bark at at the last park. Unfortunately he only located a passing puppy, which we informed him was off limits. He didn't like the fact it was investigating a birds nest that fell down in a rain storm. Neither did its owner.

I have skimmed previous posts but haven't had time to chat. Don't know why they call this a vacation. We are busier than at home. LOL!

    Have a nice morning.

Good Morning Karen! You're up bright and early! Glad Fritz is recuperating. :)

Linda, is that LD in your Avatar? For some strange reason I thought he was black? The gorilla was pretty funny.

That's not too bad of a drive to St. Augustine Kimmer. Ugh on traffic problems in Orlando though. Cute pic of Chloe in your Avatar! :)

Supposed to be sunny this morning and a chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Jim and I are going to go over to the Carp Farmer's Market for the first time this season. They are having their annual "Herb Festival" today. Pretty psyched to go. :)

I'd like to make a batch of chicken broth today as I'm all out. Not sure what to do for dinner. Thinking maybe
    Jarlsberg Chicken
    and
    Manellas Mushroom Risotto
with some sort of veg on the side.

May go out for a morning hot tub. Hope the mosquitoes don't eat me for breakfast. :)

Morning Karen!! Touring the castle sounds neat, but no air conditioning? That my be a little rough lol. Glad Fritz is getting along well now, what a good travel pup :) Yes, I agree, vacations can often be more hassle than at home, I prefer stay-cations sometimes :P

Janet, yest the other girls can join another league team in the Fall or try out for any Select team they would like to. It's just that we have been together for so long, I know feelings were hurt :( I just looked up when Canada Day is, July 1st! Sounds like you had a great Costco shopping trip and your all stocked up :)

Hope you got better sleep last night Joce!

Also hope you slept well last night Bren, ouch on on the pulled muscle :( Yum on the crab, can't wait to hear how it turned out, I wouldn't have any clue of how to cook it, steaming maybe?

Enjoy your time with DH Linda, your meals for the weekend sound yummy!

Michael and I both drink that Sleepy Time tea Kimmer, love it!! I also love Rooibos tea as well at night. Both are so relaxing.

Well the softball meeting last night went okay. There were some girls crying and some very shocked parents. Nobody was angry, or at least I don't think. We invited them to still practice with us until tryouts if they would like, so we will see.

Gotta make a Sam's trip today, I want to go early, like now lol, but the kids are still sleeping and I don't want to wake them up. I have more energy in the mornings than I do any other part of the day lol. By 2pm I am wishing it was bed time :P Got some laundry to do I think I want to clean my wood floors as well. Bri has a friend from her team coming over this afternoon and staying the night. Tomorrow is our end of season party with the girls at Schlitterbahn, so at least they have that to look forward to. Shlitterbahn is an awesome water park in Galveston: http://www.schlitterbahn.com/galveston/
For dinner I am doing burgers and hot dogs with French fries. Wishing everyone a great day!!!

    Good Morning All!

Uggg on being awake since 5:30 a.m. Karen. The castle sounds so cool. If it's stone it may be cool enough inside but it not I'm with you on sitting it out and staying in the air conditioning. Happy to hear Fritz is better and that the RV park is nice.

It is LD in my avatar Janet with his "doggles" (doggie sunglasses). Bella the bunny is black. We got a shower late last night and it's sunny now. Do you need the rain? Enjoy the farmers market ... Sounds like fun!

I'm sure it was a hard thing to do with the girls and softball but ... it's done and hoping it all works out for the best for everyone. The water park looks awesome and refreshing!

Need to get my day started here. It'll be a long one but it makes DH happy. I slept on the couch last night so Bella the bunny could stay out and romp around. Haven't done that in awhile. Bunnies are most active at night however it took me forever to fall asleep and not sure why so today I'm tired.

Made the batter up for these last night. DH bought a box of raisin bran cereal but doesn't eat cereal and I thought "hmmm, I'll make muffins" and had all the ingredients. I'll cook some up later for tomorrow. I cut the sugar way back and the batter tasted fine too. Raisin Bran Muffins

Glad Fritz is eating now, Karen. Enjoy the reunion and I bet that Castle would be interesting to see. Lol I know I have often said I was busier when on vacation.

Enjoy your Farmer's Market, Janet. In answer to your question, yes my Farm Kids are back although I think they only have strawberries at the moment. I am leery about buying some b/c it has been such a wet year. Sounds like you are really well stocked up in the food area since you went out shopping yesterday. I have been using the bug spray recipe Shona told us about and it works really well for mosquitoes. However, I have to spray it after it rains but my bottle is still really full.

I know some girls and their parents were probably hurt, Michelle. However, it is a learning experience and how sports really work. Schlitterbahn, looks like it would be great fun. Good luck cleaning and I hope Bri enjoys having her friend sleep over.

Love LD's pic in your avatar, Linda. SO CUTE! I hope your day with DH goes well again.

Have fun with your sister and Mom, Laurie. Sending Happy Birthday wishes to your Mom.

I slept from 11.00 PM until 2:30 AM which is amazing for me to do in one stretch. Then I slept for an hour or two. Then up and down again a few times. A better night's sleep than I have had in a very long time. I have tried Sleepy Time Tea by Celestial Tea. It didn't do very much for me. I take Melatonin and it works a bit but of course, doesn't do much for the pain which keeps me awake. Den went to get new brakes on his car this morning. Then he will do a bit of grocery shopping (we don't need much). I am hoping he will bring home MacDonald's when he is finished doing all the other things. He will have cheeseburgers for dinner with oven fries and as usual, I haven't decided what I am going to have. Our "Kilt Run" is today so once again our town will be jammed packed.
I hope it doesn't rain on the Festival today.

    Wishing everyone a pleasant Saturday!

    Good morning everyone:)

Karen, so glad to hear Fritz is feeling better..I LOVE castles:) Woud like to live in one! Have a good time at the reunion:)

Janet, the FM sounds like such a fun time;) Our FM is now open on Tuesday from 7:30 am to noon...trouble is, it's hard for us to get there during the week...Your dinner sounds amazing..as always:)

Michelle, yes, sadly, Joce is right..that is how sports work..I do hope all goes well for the girls:) Fun on Bri's friend coming over for a sleepover..I loved going to sleepovers with my gf's when I was her age:) You have a good day too dear!!!!

Awwwww Linda..such a precious pic of LD and Bella! Our next door neighbor has a bunny and it's soooo soft and cuddly..I would like to have a few but with 3 cats, don't think so:(

Hi Laurie:) Nice on dinner and getting to see Mario Cantone..he's the actor from Sex in the City, right? Pretty funny guy:)

Hi Joce! Glad you were able to get some sleep. That makes a world of difference, doesn't it...I wish you were able to sleep a full 8 hours though...I can't, but I usually get 5-6 hours of fairly decent sleep..I stay up late and get up around 5 am...
A Kilt Run? Sounds interesting..I need to google that! You have a lovely day dear:)

Rick left early to do a small job, replace a logic board in an opener, before the heat sets in....we'll have a nice late breakfast and some bubbly...we like to do our own champagne brunches here at home:) I finished up some office work, paid some bills...so now hopefully, the rest of the day is mine..to do as I wish:-D Which is NOTHING:-D

Dinner will be turkey and swiss french dip sandwiches...

    Everyone have a lovely Saturday!

Well, I'm glad the team meeting went okay Michelle. Eeesh on the crying girls and shocked parents though. What can you do? Love your dinner and the end of year event for the baseball team sounds like a lot of fun.

Well LD looks very cute in his sunglasses Linda. :) The trees are appreciative of the rain but otherwise we've had enough. More is forecast for the coming week. It's been wet so far this spring/summer. The raisin bran muffins sound good. That was my Dad's favourite cereal.

Have fun with your Mom tonight Laurie. I had to google who Mario Cantone was. I recognize him. Wikipedia says he was in "Sex in the City" so maybe that's where I saw him. Good luck with your errands.

We've bought strawberries twice so far this season from McGregor's Joce and they've been awesome. Glad you had a better sleep than usual but it sure doesn't sound like a good one. I'll still continue to send Sand man vibes your way for a bit. :) I think that Kilt Run is such a fun event. Hope you got McD's.

I loved sleepovers with girlfriends when I was a kid as well Marie. FSW deserves a castle. Jus' sayin'. Nice on the late brekkie and bubbly. Your dinner sounds awesome. I must short list that again as I loved it. Have a most relaxing afternoon.

Jim and I had fun at the Market. Got some strawberries, a neat chocolate bar for Canada Day (red and white, cherry chocolate and white chocolate with chopped dried cherries inside) and a bottle of a new Craft Cider.

I got my chicken broth going first thing so that'll be ready by late afternoon. Just have to try make room for it in the fridge! Yikes!

Enjoy your brunch and bubbly, Marie. You guys really deserve a break.

I will try the strawberries, Janet. I can get them from three different farms so I will try all of them. Lol not at the same time. Make sure you are all stocked up on wine etc. just in case the L.C.B.O. does go on strike on Monday. It is a bummer to go through picket lines. I know you can go the Quebec but you won't be as close to QC when you are at the cottage. Maybe warn your guests as well. No problem here b/c we don't drink too much liquor mostly beer and I always have a fully stocked liquor/wine cellar in the basement.

Ya, I read about the potential LCBO strike. What a PIA. Going over to Quebec is even a bit of a pain when we're at home. Supposedly the Outlets will still be open but I don't know how their chain of supply will go. And as far as beer goes, that's no problem as there are a ton of Craft breweries around. It's just a wine supply that may be interrupted.

It was a great day with DH today. Rough start as his speech therapist showed up today without a courtesy phone call then informed me she doesn't keep to a schedule and doesn't do mornings ... Um, hello, you were there today in the morning and you will set a schedule. So with that I was in touch with the company administrator and aired my grief and I also got the place where DH is staying involved. If they ever want to see business again from the place DH is staying at they will accommodate our schedule. I was VERY clear about our needs. They were very apologetic but I want results not apologies. Anyhow ...
We ate lunch out (DH had a burger and I had chicken tenders) and after I really didn't feel like grocery shopping and knew I had enough stuff here to make dinner so I pulled out Flounder and made Flounder Almondine with a butter lemon sauce, steamed green beans, and rice. It came out really good too!
Also made a batch of the Raisin Bran muffins so DH could take some back with him and they came out great too! I reduced the sugar down to 1 1/4 cups and I thought the recipe was perfect. I don't like sugary sweet so it worked!! The raisins and hte cereal added enough sweet for us.

Strawberries are a funny fruit Joce, they are either fantastic or awful and often it's hard to tell. They can look great but not be sweet at all. It's great you were able to get some sleep last night. Hoping for an even better night tonight for you.

I just love my bunny Marie! Bella is my third and such a sweet heart. She is not real cuddly though but makes up for it by being such a good girl. My first rabbit was a real cuddler but also chewed everything in site. Yum on your champagne brunch. Did you know that if you open a bottle of champagne and don't finish it you can place a spoon (handle down) in the neck of the bottle and put it back in the fridge and it will keep it bubbly.
