Saturday's Fall Fair....

  • chuckieb 7 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! It's a most lovely Autumn Day here in our Nation's Capital. Perfect day to head to the local Fall Fair. We'll head out just before noon and have lunch there. I like looking at the farm animals and who won First Prize for the biggest carrot or the Best Apple Pie. :) I also am always fascinated to watch cotton candy being made. I'd LOVE to do that for one day just for fun.

This morning I think I will decorate the house for Fall (my very FAVOURITE time of year)! Jim wants to stick close to the house this morning as his Dad is having an electrician to the cottage to look at replacing the electrical panel and he wants to be there just incase the electrician wants to talk with him as well.

I'm going to grill beef Shishkebobs for dinner tonight and Jim has requested
    Twice Baked Spinach Potatoes
    on the side.

Shona, again it's so great that Colter's appointment went well. Benjamin had a lot of health issues as a child and it was a never ending source of worry and concern. Thankfully, it all went well and it was never life threatening, but my heart goes out to you as I can certainly understand what you go through.

    How's Den this morning Joce?

Ouch on Wayne's toe Karen. That can't be comfortable. :( Hope the cherry juice concentrate gives him some relief. That was an awesome breakfast you guys had yesterday. I would have gone with what Wayne had! Sounded deelicious!

A drag the light fixtures you chose went on backorder Bren. :( Your dinner last night sounded yummy. I've been having a hard time finding good sausages lately. I bought some chicken ones that have virtually no flavour, and then I bought some maple bacon ones and I find them too sweet. :(

It was great you got a call for a 'viewing' Linda, but unfortunate they cancelled. Maybe something just came up on their end and they'll call back to schedule another showing. Love that you 'recycled' the neighbourhood's pumpkins and scored pumpkin seeds for yourself and a treat for the deer. I don't do the pumpkin seeds but at the end of Oct. I do chop up all the pumpkins and squash I've bought for decorating and put them out at the back of the lawn for the deer to have. They LOVE it and it is so adorable to see them chomping down on a big mouthful of pumpkin. The bluejays fly down and get the seeds. :) TOO cute on the teeny snake. I've never seen one that small before. Just this past week I saw a tiny garter snake (very common here) on the lawn but it was probably 10" long. I always like to see them as they aren't dangerous at all to us plus it's supposed to mean a 'healthy environment'.

Good Luck at the ball-field Michelle.

    Wishing everyone a Grand Saturday!

The two pics are from the storefront of our local 'corner store' this past week. The warty pumpkins are the same as the one I got yesterday from Farm Boy. :)

    Good Morning Everyone! Happy Autumn!

The pumpkins look really cool Janet, I like that they have green in them and are not just one solid color. Have fun at the fair! Haven't been to one in ages and sure do miss them. Yum on your dinner too.

The person who was scheduled to see the house yesterday, who turned out to be a now show, won't be rescheduling. Heard from the realtor just now out of courtesy. We know she wasn't a serious buyer and happy she won't be wasting our time today going thru the motions.
We are suppose to have dinner with friends tonight but DH isn't feeling well and not sure why so not sure yet about cancelling. I asked him if he wanted to cancel dinner out but he said "no". In anticipation of possibly showing the house and not wanting to smell it up cooking we ran out to Panera for a breakfast sandwich. When DH got home he got sick and has bad stomach pains. So ....
Since the house is all clean the only plans for today are going to the gym.

    Have a great day!

Morning Linda! I like white pumpkins too but are waiting to get one at a decent price. When I was in Farm boy yesterday buying some other ones the cashier told me that there had been a lady in there earlier on in the day from Alberta. She took pictures of the Farm boy pumpkins and the price tag as she said where she comes from they are selling pumpkins by the pound and when she brought the one she chose up to the cash they wanted $30 for it. Needless to say she put it back. Shaking head. So sorry to hear your hubby isn't feeling well. Sounds like a flu maybe eh? Good that if the person who wanted to see your house wasn't serious they aren't coming back. Have fun? at the gym. :)

I just came in from feeding the birds. A chickadee landed in the cedar tree above me while I was filling the squirrel feeder so I held the bucket of bird seed out to it and it flew down, landed on the bucket, took a seed and flew off again. Nice way to start the day. :)

Cool on the snacking chickadee, Janet! If Wayne ever refills the bird feeder and hangs it up, we can watch them grabbing a bite! My guess is next fall he might get it hung up.
    Love your squirrel avatars!

Too bad on the no show Linda. I hated keeping the house clean and ready, the one day we messed up the realtor showed it and pushed house slippers under the sofa to make it appear clean and NEAT. Daughter was 16, not at all helpful, and I was not up to paar that day to keep after her to pick up her stuff. Ugh! The one day you miss is the day they will arrive unexpectedly.

Wayne chain sawed some tree branches to raise the area along the lane in prep for bringing the RV home Monday, if they do get the part in, we hope we hope we hope. I tossed some fireplace logs in back of the Gator and threw the branches away to a temporary location until we can move them. Heat got to me bec. I was too stubborn to take my water along. A quick shower later and we are recuperating. Daughters car is acting weird so may have to grab it in Rolla and get it to repair shop next week.

My kitchen needs finding and cleaning and the counters gone over! If there is time and am not too worn out will attack the living room next. Have to remind Wayne to take his apple cider vinegar (organic, he takes it straight instead of putting it in water...yuk!) then the rest of the frozen cherries this afternoon, then cherry concentrate until I locate some frozen ones. May ask the naturopathic dr. For his suggestions, also.

A.C. Is outside. Fritz is asleep on Wayne's lap. Fritz is no longer trusted left alone....we were in the sun room and he went from being asleep to chewing my crocs, Wayne's brown dress shoes, the TV remote, the cord to the computer, and the telephone. Now he has to gontonhis crate when he have coffee in the sun room!

O.M.G.! about Fritz ... what a dog! You do have your hands full with him Karen.
Take care in the heat always. It sneaks up on you quickly. Hoping DH feels better with his gout soon. How much apple cider vinegar is he downing? Don't know if I could do it straight, it's strong.

Two tsp twice a day. I read to start with that although it seems like you would need more. The sites are contradictory at times....one says coffee helps and another says it hurts. NSAIDs are implicated but they advise taking ibuprofen for the pain.

Fritz wants to lay between his legs with his head on his tummy. He is not sitting correctly so dog has to lay alongside him, was miffed so he jumped down to his blanket and started chewing his chew stick, then bounced back up and is staring at Wayne. HB just surrendered and changed his position to please the spoiled little brat!

That's not too bad ... still though it's strong. Will DH eat salads that you can make a homemade dressing using the Bragg's Vinegar with so he get's more in him? but then again if he just takes it what's he need the salad for. Hoping it does help him. I guess you'll have to see what works and what doesn't.

Grrrrr, I wrote out two long posts to have them both disappear, I've wasted over an hour of time already! So it will be short, sorry!

I want to say Karen, that my Dad gets gout all the time! It's because he's low in potassium. He drinks cherry juice everyday, but it has to be the Fresh tart cherry juice that comes in the glass jars. Most pharmacies sell it if you can't find it in a grocery store. Other foods are higher in potassium, so look up a list on-line (WebMD has a good one) And make sure he stays away from red meat and fatty foods while he has it. Hopefully it will go away soon!

Have fun at the fair Janet!

Hopefully you sell soon Linda, sorry you had a no show---at least the house is ready if you had a last minute showing! Just think positively and it will happen soon! :)

Nothing happening here today. Colter stayed for dinner at his friends lastnight, so we ordered greek-style pizza (omg, they have the best ouzo-tomato sauce on their pizza!) So tonight I'll make pasta and sausages. I'd better click post before I lose this one too!
    Have a great day everyone!

    Hi again.

If I could get him to use vinegar or eat foods which have it, the process would be so much easier. LOL! I was surprised he drank it straight. The cherry juice I found here is often diluted or sweetened, it is difficult to locate the kind he needs. Mama Jeans Health Food Store (in Springfield) here we come. They have the right kind. Frozen cherries or maybe freeze dried might be good, also. I may get some next year when they are in season and freeze them. I will check the local pharmacies like you mentioned...thanks.

Ugh on the disappearing posts. I hate that.

    See you all later.

Hi everyone! Tournament got cancelled because of rain so we ended up going down to the Torchy's Taco's they just built not that far from us. Then we did a little clothes shopping and Bri and I both found a sweater each and she found a pair of skinny jeans she wanted. Since I have the time I think I am going to make Janet's Tetrazzini before my spinach goes bad. Have to whip up some home made cream of soup, can't be mushroom though. Maybe cream of celery?? That would work I think. Bri is going to stay the night at her friends house and how I wish there was someone that could take Caiden for the night lol! I would love to go out!!! Oh well. Will read through in a bit :) Hope everyone had a good day!
