Saturday's Saturday

    Good Morning Everyone.

Hope your mom is doing well Michelle. So scary that the first surgery was botched and she has to have more to correct the problems. It's bad enough having problems and needing surgery but hoping this takes care of it.

How was Jim's soup last night Janet? I'm craving Asian something now and DH is not a fan so will have to figure out how to get my fix. That's great you have the Chateau to look forward to at the end of the month.

That's a beautiful website site Kimmer for your on-line store. And great too to be cutting out the middle man. I wish you much success with it. Bummer on having problems with your internet but glad it's fixed.

Not sure yet what we will do today. It's the weekend and have to be "selective" with what we do and where we go. Don't want to get caught up in places with too many people.

Did you get any bad weather Karen? How much snow did you all get Janet and Joce? It's suppose to get cold again here over the weekend. Wind chills into the 30's. Chloe isn't going to be too happy Kimmer. I'm thinking you will visiting your mom today Michelle. Is the drive far?

Good Morning Linda! Jim and I slept 'til 9 this morning. I think you shared your good sleeping vibes from the previous night! :) Felt great. Jim's soup turned out really well again. I'm actually going to upload it to GR this morning so I have it in my collection with our changes. I love the broth. We didn't get much snow here at all. Only about an inch. The temps have dropped. We're sitting at -18C/0F right now. The turkeys look cold. LOL! Supposed to remain colder for a few days and then warm up a bit again. Such crazy weather.

Yes, Michelle, do let us know how your Mom is doing after you visit with her.

Kimmer, I checked out your Shell website. It's very fun! I have a set of baking scallop shells I should really pull out and use the next time I make Jim some scallops. They're somewhere in that store room I'm going through. LOLOL. The air plants you're selling are sure a good price. My girlfriend who owns the Flower Shop sells the small ones for $5/ea. I LOVE the seashell card holders. That'd be so pretty for a Beach themed dinner party table too! And I also love the night lights. I've never seen anything like that before. They're beautiful.

I too don't know what we're up to today. I suspect Jim will work on some more beer paddles in his workshop. He wants to make some for his brother and two of his cousins so we can bring them when we visit the beginning of February.

I should put some more work in to booking our flights to Taiwan to go visit Benjamin.

Haven't thought of what to make for dinner this evening either.

Good luck deciding what you are going to do this weekend, Linda. It is very hard to tell how much snow we did get as it is all very windswept. It is very thick in some places and thin in other places. The temperature has plummeted and the snow is very light and being blown around everywhere. I am going to bet the roads are not that good especially out in the country where it is wide open.

Glad you slept so well, Janet and also that Jim's soup turned out so well. What is a beer paddle?

I love your website, Kimmer! Very Cool Indeed!

Den went out to clean the laneway and then after that, he is going to do the little bit of shopping we need to be done. Once he is finished that we will have MacDonald's for brunch. We are doing laundry today only the bedding today though and then tomorrow we will do the regular loads. Den will have his normal cheeseburgers and oven fries for dinner and as usual, I don't know what I am having yet.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

I seem to be sleeping good every other night for some reason. Last night I had trouble falling asleep and was up till about 1:30 a.m. and I can't blame an Espresso Martini this time.

Looking forward to seeing the post for the soup Janet. Maybe that'll fix my Asian craving and too I love soup. That's good you didn't get a dumping of snow. Wouldn't it be funny if the one turkey who found that the top of the hot tub is warm told all the other turkeys ...

I'm with you on the laundry Joce. I did a load this morning and have 2 more to go but they will have to wait till tomorrow. Enjoy your brunch. Always good when someone else does the cooking (lol!)

Decided to go look at cars today. We've been wanting to trade mine in but I just don't know where to start. Thought I would trade my Lincoln in for another Lincoln since that is what I know but dealing with the rep has not been a good experience and I'm finished. He doesn't return calls, can't "find" a car with the features we want, etc. It's been 2 months so we are going to Acura today to see what they have. I'm already in touch with a sales rep and explained to the front desk I want someone who isn't going to give me the ole hussle and bump because I'm a female. I have no tolerance for being talked down to and I know when someone is trying to take advantage. They put me with an older gentleman because they don't have any females and so far he understands my situation (handicapped husband who can not help) and is patient and explaining everything with no pressures to do anything until I want. Acura has great safety ratings which is why I'm looking at Acura.

Hi Joce! A beer paddle is a piece of wood that has holes in it that fit beer tasting glasses. If you go into some pubs, they offer 'Beer Flights' so you get to have a little taste of a few different beer they have. Usually the beer are arranged from lightest to darkest in terms of heaviness of the flavour. Here's a page that shows one although I think Jim's are nicer.

I could so go for a Cheeseburger. Did Den go in to work yesterday with the weather so bad?

A shame you didn't sleep well last night too Linda. I find if your sleeping routine gets out of whack it takes a little while to get it back.I just posted the soup recipe. It was so good. I'm looking forward to more for lunch. Jim would FLIP if there was a group of turkeys on the hot tub lid. He was suspicious of one doing damage, never mind 13 or 21!!!!! LOL! Nice on buying a new car although it doesn't sound like it's been a fun experience up to this point. Could you ask for a different Lincoln rep? Good luck with Acura and I hope you find something you want. How old is your current Lincoln?

Made tomato and cheese omelettes for brekkie with hot sauce. We're late eating today since we slept in.

Thanks for the info, Janet. Den was home by about one thirty yesterday and just after that, the flash freeze had begun. The winds were very high and the trees were really moving around. Lol, I was wondering how Jim would take the turkey warming itself on top of the Hot Tub but forgot to ask you:)

Good luck with buying a new car, Linda. I hate buying new cars they are such a losing proposition. As soon as you drive them off the car lot after buying them they lose so much value.

My car will be 3 years old in August. We own it but will lease the next one in that we like to trade up every 3 years to stay within the warranties, roadside assistance, free service, free loaners, before having to replace tires, etc. Just makes sense for us. Since we only have one car now (DH isn't driving) I need to have reliable and supported transportation. We like small SUVs so I'll be looking at their RDX model.
I was going to ask for another rep at Lincoln but I've had other problems at the there so thinking it's time for a change.
I agree Joce. Cars are the biggest waste of $$$ that I just hate spending. I'm sick to my stomach seeing how much my Lincoln MKC depreciated. If I had known that then I wouldn't have bought I would have leased.

I have to laugh thinking though about a bunch of turkeys atop your hot tub Janet. It would be a sight.

Good morning. I am supposed to be working on Council minutes but decided to drop in.

LOL on making a bed for the turkeys on your hot tub, Janet. If you are worried about the cover, maybe fix something to go over it, to protect the cover from excess turkey poundage. I will check out your soup recipe for sure. Cute idea making beer paddles!

Good luck on the car search, Linda. The older gentleman seems to be quite pleasant and will likely treat you with respect. If I ever have to buy a new car without Wayne, I would go to the salesman we have bought 3 vehicles from, and sent three people in who needed various types of vehicles. Their other sales guys (and gals) all know that he will be looking for a new truck in another couple of years, also. Ugh on not sleeping well again.

Wow on the snow, Joce. I prefer the light feathery snow - much easier to drive thru than the wet, slushy stuff which eventually turns into heavy ice. Or better yet, to stay home when it snows - ha ha! We are going to have flurries Sunday and snow Monday, but no idea how much or if it will all waft over to St. Louis. It is COLD again, expecting below zero (F) temps next week.

The Power Ball and Mega Millions are won, but not by me -- LOL. So guess I can not pay off debts, hire a full time housekeeper, etc. etc. etc. Tee hee!

Best get to work on what I am supposed to be doing! See you later.

Glad that Den got home before the roads got bad yesterday Joce.

Again, good luck with car shopping Linda. We've never leased a car before. The people I used to work for when I managed the Hardware store always got their vehicles like that though. I googled Acura RDX's. Very nice!

Jim and I have decided to make a pizza for dinner tonight. We're going to watch "Victoria & Abdul" on Pay-per-view tonight so it'll be 'Movie and a Pizza" night. I'll put on olives, mushrooms, onions and then I have either pancetta or ham I could add.

SP Karen! The turkeys do not regularly roost on the Hot Tub lid. The problem is with their very sharp claws. And turkey poop. LOL. We'll just hope they don't decide it's a community gathering spot. I think I saw a post on FB about the Powerball winner. Some young man who isn't even drinking age yet? Good luck with your Council minutes.

Minutes are done and printed. Yippee!

It is a dreary winter morning and everyone but me is in the living room enjoying the warmth of the wood stove. The last time I wafted through, Mauser cried and meowed and conned me into following her. Her food dish was 1/4 full, causing undue panic and certainty of starvation! So I filled it to the brim and she is now chowing down. She followed me all over until I fed her. Silly cat.

Speaking of starvation I really need to get going on lunch. Will have to to make up my mind about supper, also.

Notice we have moved up on the front page. As long as the porn sites are not there, I am happy. Ha ha.

Good afternoon/evening and hello to all. Thank you everyone for the nice comments about our store. It's a lot of work and hopefully will have all our products up within the month. Janet, the night lights are very pretty and we make most of them ourselves.

Very, very cold here and will get colder. 36F for low tonight and then I think Wednesday night will be a degree below freezing! Had to bring in all my air plants and my Poinsettia. Have a gorgeous Poinsettia and don't want to lose it! Now the trick is here to keep Miss Chloe away from the air plants! It's hard enough where they normally are on the porch and in my front walkway/breezeway. She tries to "capture" them all the time. I do have them high enough on a couple of dressers that they should be safe. She doesn't normally jump on those pieces of furniture and did well the last time I had to bring them in. We will see!

    Have a good evening all!

I'm SO bad with indoor plants Kimmer. I try not to buy Poinsettia's anymore because as soon as they enter my house it means their demise. :) LOL @ Chloe and the air plants. Can you blame her? They would skitter along the floor quite nicely!
