Saturday`s Shindig!

Good Morning Everyone! Just gulping down my coffee before getting a head start on the day. Jim of course has requested Egg Salad sandwiches for lunch today which we`ll just eat in the car on our way. We`ll probably pull in to Mississauga around 3`ish. Check in at the Hotel is 4 but usually the rooms are ready. There`s a pool, etc. so we can go for a dip if we choose. I wrapped two cardboard boxes with birthday wrap yesterday and packed all the food bank donations in to them so it looks quite festive. Should be a fun evening.

Still eleven days left in the month. As I`d mentioned over in IMI11, I`ve found this month really fun with the Pumpkin/Octoberfest theme and there`s been some really awesome recipes being churned out. I`m anxious to see what else comes. :)

It`s about a 4 1/2 hour drive today. Not too bad.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Morning Janet! Are you feeling better today? You must if you are going to the party! Have fun :)

Well, we were supposed to already be at a tournament warming up for our 8am game, but the rain has gotten us again :( And poor Bri was looking so forward to getting out there and playing since her foot is pretty much healed up. The email said the games will either be pushed back by hours or we may just play tomorrow only. It's supposed to keep raining all day, so we will see what happens. Hopefully tomorrow works out.

Michael took Bri and her friends to go see the new Halloween yesterday. I was going to take them, but he said he really wanted to see it, so I got some housework done lol. Last night I made Chicken Alfredo and it was SO GOOD!

Since I'm pretty sure we won't be playing today, I need to come up with dinner plans. Thinking tacos? I'll need to whip up some salsa since we are out. Maybe make some beans or rice (or both) to go with. Have a great day everyone!

    Good morning.

Glad you are feeling better, Janet!

It is rainy here also, Michelle! Supposed to be a nice day but tomorrow will be colder. It is pot luck at church Sunday so must figure something out to take.

We are on our way to breakfast at Steak n Shake before loading up and heading home.

    Good Morning Everyone.

Wow on the long drive today Janet. Glad you are staying overnight. How are you feeling today? Nice idea to wrap the food donation box in gift wrap. Travel safe.

You sure are getting lots of rain Michelle. Hope the rain lets up to at least get the girls out playing tomorrow. Tacos sound good to me.

Have a safe trip home Karen and enjoy the pot-luck.

No plans here yet for the day. Again, didn't sleep well last night but at least slept. I'm not tired but not well rested either. Depending on our plans for the day, it will then determine what I'm doing today. I'll see if DH wants to go to the gym today or tomorrow. I want to make split pea soup in the crockpot and will do that either today or tomorrow. I don't have any ham but will add crumbled crisp bacon instead. Needing to use up pantry items and I'm in the mood for a hearty soup too. Undecided too for dinner.

Sounds like you are feeling much better today, Janet. Enjoy the birthday party and have a safe trip.

Ugh on all the rain, Michelle! Hopefully, it will clear up for tomorrow for Bri. Taco' sound like a great idea. Enjoy your breakfast and have a safe drive home, Karen.

I was up and down last night like a one-armed paper hanger as well, Linda. I hope everyone gets a good sleep tonight including me.

It is much cooler today and the wind is nippy. We are supposed to get frost overnight so I will bring some plants into the garage. We are almost set for winter only a few more things to do. We made great headway yesterday. I need to collect all my Marigold seeds so I have them for next year. They smell kind of funky until they are dried but we will survive as it only takes a few days for them to dry in the sunroom. I better go fix something for lunch.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

It’s so weird sitting outside mid October when it’s 86°(F) and the cicadas are chirping away.

I’m feeling your pain Joce. Lack of sleep is catching up with me and I’m starting to feel grumpy. Sounds like you got a lot done yesterday and that’s good.

Going to the gym and a quick stop in the grocery store after. I do want ham for the split pea soup I want to make and will make it tomorrow. Also plan then to start the outdoor window and screen washing project.

We just arrived at our Hotel. Traffic was nasty. I could never ever live in Toronto. Yes, I`m feeling a lot better today Michelle. Thanks. :) Poor Bri not getting to play baseball `til tomorrow. Yum on Chicken Alfredo and Tacos.

Enjoy your breakfast at Steak n` Shake Karen. I`ve been wanting a chocolate milkshake for the past two days. Was going to grab one yesterday on the way home from errands and we even drove through the McDonald`s parking lot but I totally forgot. Then today we pulled over for a bathroom break at a McDonald`s. I went to order a shake and they said their machine wasn`t working. It was not to be.

Home made soup will hit the spot Linda. Enjoy your day.

I brought in a Hibiscus from the back deck yesterday Joce. Initially I`d bought it at the end of May and potted it on the second entrance way steps. Well it took all of one day for the squirrels to munch it down to the roots!!! I moved it around on to the back deck and they left it alone from then however it took until October before it grew large enough to bud. Went outside yesterday and one was about to flower. I didn`t have the heart to leave it out to freeze just as it was about to get it`s big chance. LOL. Woke up this morning and it was bright and pink and lovely in the foyer. I may think about keeping it inside over the winter and putting it out again next May. I`d like to try plant some Marigolds from seed. I did nasturtiums and Morning Glories this year and they did very well. The castor bean plant I bought in the spring grew to reach the eaves of the garage. It was magnificent. Mom asked me to collect a few seeds for her so she could try grow some next year. I brought in one whole bunch of the prickly seed pods and some of them have started to split open now so the seeds are falling out. Very fun.

Happy you arrived safe at your destination Janet. Ufff, on the horrible traffic. I hope you get that milkshake soon. Now you have me wanting one. LOL!!

We managed to get ourselves to our amenity center's gym for a light workout. I wasn't in the mood to go to the store and also changed my mind and want to use bacon in the soup. Came home and it's easy enough to get it going so it's in the crockpot cooking away. I still need to cook up some bacon to add to it when I eat it. I would rather add crumbles per bowl fresh. Easy enough to pan fry some tomorrow and keep the extras in the fridge.
Pulled out Trout for dinner from the freezer and will bake that with something … I'll see what I have.
I know … I know … it's just way too exciting here today.

Went for a swim and a hot tub and now we`re almost set to head to the Party. I bought a new Jackety thing in lovely autumn colours which I`m quite pleased with. :)

Go you going for a work out Linda. Nice the soup is on and doing its thing. Will you cook it over night or will it be ready this evening? Trout sounds awesome.

Have fun at the party Janet! A swim sounds wonderful.
Soup only takes 4 hours on high to cook and is now done. Just letting it cool off a bit b4 turning it into a container for the fridge. Why put something off till tomorrow that you can do today, right? It's that easy to make and it turned out great with the bacon instead of ham, actually better.
