Saturday's Smiles.....

Good Morning Everyone! I think we might get rain today which is a shame. Our company arrived last night and dinner was a great success. They brought us a beautiful coconut cream pie from a bakery in Montreal and a box of doughnuts (for Jim) :) from a Polish bakery there as well. Also brought me a bottle of Meyer Lemon olive oil and some other goodies. So thoughtful!

We got the apple stand put up first thing and I've already sold one jar of cranberry jelly! LOL!

Today we are going to go to the Farmer's Market and maybe the apple orchard. I'm doing BBQ ribs for dinner with leftover Quinoa salad and focaccia (which was lovely) and also some grilled romaine. Maybe a tomato and basil platter if I can find good tomatoes at the market.

Wishing everyone an awesome Saturday! Saw this Turkey cake at Sobey's yesterday and thought it was hilarious. Kids would love it. :) They were only $9.99.

    Good Morning Everyone.

I slept like a rock last night. We went to the Japanese Hibachi place last night and it was nice. The restaurant doesn't get busy till later, we shared a hibachi table with a woman about my husband's age and her adult daughter. The woman and her husband are 'seasonal' people and have a small place here but she and her daughter came down because the husbands were on a hunting trip. They live in Pennsylvania the other parts of the year.
I'll bag the carrot/pumpkin treats today and have everything ready to take to the post office to ship Monday morning. If I do this again next year I know the mistakes I made this year and will change a few things. If the treats sell I'll do it again but if they don't then I won't.
No clue about dinner just yet.

Nice hostess gifts Janet! and I love that your front yard stand is doing so well. Do I see Jim building a covered little stand and making a sign for the future? I hope the rain holds off so you can get out and about with your company. Cute turkey cake! Yum on your traditional Thanksgiving menu. I didn't know you could freeze apple crisp, do you thaw it to bake it or bake it right from the freezer? I like the looks of your recipe, I like ones not made with oats.

Morning Linda! So glad you had a nice meal out last night and had a good sleep as well! There's no way those bunny treats are not going to sell. We sold a jar of cranberry jelly at the stand first thing this morning to a lady out walking her dog. LOL. The dog was a huge bull dog type named Taylor. Ah-dorable. The apple crisp freezes perfectly. I thaw it and then bake it.

Good to know about the apple crisp, thank you. I love them and it would be ideal to freeze ahead instead of trying to make everything in one day.
I'd buy the jelly. I bet it would be excellent with warm brie cheese and crackers. When I was working, one year someone gave me a gift of 4 homemade jelly/jams in the little jars. I didn't think much of it at the time until I opened one to use and it was the best jelly, all of them were. Homemade rocks! and is so much better than anything store bought.
I got 630 triangle shaped carrot/pumpkin biscuits. Total biscuits made were 1,730 (plus a few more that were either not shaped well or Bella ate).

Absolutely Linda, it makes the work load of a holiday dinner waaayyyy easier if you can do things in steps and freezing the apple crisp ahead of time is a stroke of genius IMHO. LOL. I love that recipe. I also agree that the cranberry jelly would be great on brie or goat cheese etc. with crackers or baguette. Unbelievable that you made 1,730 biscuits. I dub thee 'The Bunny Biscuit Queen of the entire kingdom!!!!'

We had a lovely time at the market. I did manage to get some nice ripe tomatoes and also bought a pkg. of pea sprouts just because they were cute and looked good. LOL. We also stopped at the Orchard where our guests bought a bunch of pumpkins to bring back to Montreal with them.

I've got the ribs in the oven prior to putting them on the grill and I've prepped the romaine. I had home made soups set out for lunch, Gazpacho, Italian wedding and Curried Butternut Squash. Leftover focaccia and Quinoa salad. The girls are out in the hot tub right now and Jim and Dave are watching the Hockey game.

Gonna put out an appy in a bit, the Grey Owl goat cheese drizzled in honey with marcona almonds served with apple slices.

Love the turkey cake, Janet. Some people have all the imagination and talent! Goat cheese drizzled with honey? Cool.

Glad you got some sleep, Linda.

We have been super busy today - this is the first time I had to just sit! Am watching Halloween Baking Championship. So funny!

    Have a nice evening evryone.
