Saturday's Spiralizer

  • chuckieb 8 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! It's a bright sunny morning here in the Ottawa Valley. Our guests arrived last night around 10 p.m. I've just been outside feeding the birds, squirrels and chipmunks with the girls and most everyone has had coffee.
I'm going to make Poached eggs on toast with fried tomatoes for breakfast. And then we're going to bring them over to the Farmer's Market. They live in downtown Montreal so are quite enamoured with the privacy, wildlife, etc. here and I think they'll have a fun stroll around the market as well as it is 'rural'. :)
    Menu for this evening's dinner:
    Lemon Rosemary Brined Roast Chicken
    Tinfoil Potatoes
    Beet Carpaccio
    A Deconstructed tossed salad
Dessert - Fresh fruit plain, or served in a waffle cone bowl with vanilla ice cream
Have fun at the auction today Karen.
Did you have the Parvo virus when you were away on holiday Laurie?
So I acquired a new toy this week. A spiralizer. We'd been talking about them a while ago and Michelle I'd ask you what brand you had and you'd said Paderno. Is yours like mine? I'm so excited to give it a whirl. :)
Wishing everyone a most lovely Saturday.

    Good morning, Janet!

Your day sounds like fun, esp. for the city folks.

I have a few minutes before going to the auction. Kittens are risking life and limb by climbing around A.C. He is not impressed and the paw is raised to clobber. Best move, little brats.

Mel is not feeling right. I almost took him to the vet today, but he seems better, is eating, and no longer hiding in a corner. He acts like his throat is sore. Probably allergies. If he had not improved I would missed the auction to get him to the vet. He is not meowing, but seems more chipper.

Am watching Hopalong Cassidy. I am hooked on some of the old westerns! Love the never empty guns, and the Lone Ranger's never ending disguises and camping equipment when all they have is the bedrolls on their horses.

Got to go. See you later. Have a nice day.

Good morning! I think y'all will have a great day at the market! Yum on breakfast and double yum on your dinner plans...seems like you have everything under control! I'm pretty sure that is the same spiralizer as mine...just mine is all white :)

Glad Mel is feeling better Karen!

Yesterday was fun. We ended up eating Italian, not Mexican like I thought! Then we went back to my Aunt's house for kind of and after party and I ended up staying there while the kiddos swam until about 7pm then drove the 45 minutes home. Today is my SIL's graduation. So my MIL is having a big party afterward and I volunteered to go over there early and start getting all the appy's ready while they are at the graduation. I think there is about 15 appetizers she is wanting done so I have a big job! Then after that we have kindergarten graduation party to go to lol. It's a swimming party so that should be fun for the kids. Okay off to a busy day! Have a great one everybody!

Have a fun day with your visitors today, Janet. I am sure they will have a great time today.

I hope you enjoy the auction, Karen. LOL @ Wayne wanting a road grater now no less!
They always say "The Boys with the Most Toys Win":) I haven't watched the Lone Ranger or Hopalong Cassidy since since I was a kid!

Delighted to hear Sophia is feeling much better, Shona:)
There was an article yesterday on FB I shared and they will soon be able to detect any viruses you have ever contracted by testing only one drop of blood. Amazing!

MichelleB, Good luck with unpacking and I do hope you get into that cooking class.

I bought another Blue Spruce yesterday and we will be planting it and a few other things later on when Den gets home from shopping. All went well with my insurance policy. We were able to switch into something else easily thank goodness. No questions asked. They didn't need a medical for anything or I wouldn't pass! Den will have his normal cheeseburgers and fries and I am not sure at the moment about what I might have.

    Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Hope Mel feels right as rain by the end of the day Karen. Always so worrisome when our pets are ailing. Have fun at the Auction.
Nice of you to go help with appys at your MIL's party Michelle. Fun on the Kindergarten graduation party as well. Have fun!
Nice on the blue spruce Joce. Glad all went well with the with the Insurance agent. Yum on cheeseburgers and fries.
Breakfast is done and everyone is just getting cleaned up before we head to the Market. So amusing how it takes six people so much longer to head out than our normal two. :)

Terrible sinus headache. Olivia is sneezing and sniffling from her allergies too.
Hope kitties survive A.C. I hope Mel is better soon, Karen.
Janet, I can't say it enough times you are the hostess with the mostest.
Joce, I have to laugh the Spanish challenge in trivia. I don't speak Spanish. I was confused but tried to muddle through. Cheeseburger sounds good.
Michelle, how nice of you to help out on the party.
I can't stand the pounding in my head. Back to bed for a bit.
Navy bean soup and pulled pork sandwiches.
    Go BOLTS!

That spiralizer is cool, I've been eyeing them up as well! Fun :) Laurie was just telling me about when she had Parvo a long time ago and hoped I didn't get it as that's what the Doctor told me Sophia had the other day!! In kids they get a low grade fever, headache, possible sore throat or sinus issues that are mild. What defines it, is the rash they get after the fever breaks (1-3 days later the doc told me). In adults they will get no real symptoms of a cold but have very sore joints, lymph nodes, headaches, extreme fatigue. So the doctor told me don't be alarmed if Sophia gets a rash, and if you or your husband get really sore knees or joints than it's definitely the Parvo virus. I didn't know how bad it was until Laurie told me! Yikes! So far Sophia has no rash or a sign of "slapped cheeks". But the virus has been going around here, it's very contagious. She would have been contagious before symptoms appeared and while she had the fever. Have a good day with your house guests, sounds like you'll have a good time today!

That would be cool if they could test for viruses with just a blood test Joce! I wonder if our health care system would actually pay for that? When Sophia was in the hospital, they sent her blood to Infectious Diseases to see what type of antibiotics could kill her infection because she had a resistant strain. They needed a lot of vials, and they would test different microbes under the microscope to see what best killed the strain. I'm sure that wasn't cheap to the health care system, the doctors are always reluctant sending swabs to the labs too, I always have to ask them. They might have a "quota". That's great you got the insurance without the medical testing! Cheeseburgers sounds good, I should put that on my list too! Have to do a big grocery trip today. Looking at recipes to make for the week and add to my list!

Hi Karen, I hope Mel will be alright! I wish animals could talk sometimes! It's hard to know what ails them. At least he seems chipper! My vet always says if they are eating and active then not to worry.

Wow, busy couple days for you Michelle! Sounds like fun though! :)

I didn't make the grilled chicken pizza last night, Pete worked too late. So we'll have it today. We have a huge list of To-do's this weekend! Gotta get crackin' !! Have a great day everyone!! :)

Hello. Back from the auction. It was not very big and there were not much I would have been interested in. Didn't buy anything. Grabbed lunch on the way back. Mel's face is a bit swollen so I think he may have bitten a spider or something or got stung. He seems a little better. Will keep an eye on him. Am in the sun room and a wasp is flying around far too close for comfort. Wayne just clobbered it and is going to stretch out on the couch.

With sick children, allergies, sick pets, spider-bit hubbies, etc., it does not seem like the best of weekends for any of O.D.D.. Aargh! I have heard of parvo in kittens and puppies, was not aware it hit people also.

Boo on the sinus / allergies. Florida plant life grows earlier than Misssouri's, my sinus allergies are gone for the spring and waiting until fall to crop up again.

Having gone through years of army medicine, I understand the "quota" system. Our previous civilian doctor avoided extra / expensive tests etc. and used his experience to diagnose. I like that, not having to pay for all the tests. If his diagnosis didn't work, he would then do the extra blood work. I am leaning further toward naturopathic medicine, anyhow, for most ailments.

The yard needs mowing so I may be volunteered for that. At least for part of it. Since it is not raining! See you later.
