Sleepy (but busy) Sunday

  • mommyluvs2cook 6 years ago
It's early and so quiet in my house! Briauna is at Emma's and Caiden will probably be sleeping for a few more hours, so I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts :) I still have some last minute cleaning to do today. We have a birthday party to go to early this afternoon that I completely forgot about! It's one of Caiden's little buddies that used to be on his T-ball team and is now on one of his rival soccer teams lol. Anyway, I ended up pushing back the family get together by an hour so we can go, since I had promised him 2 weeks ago we could. So I will pick up the girls, go to the party then rush home and family will probably be waiting in my driveway for me lol, since they are always early. Michael doesn't even get home from work until 6pm. so it's not that big of a deal to push the time back. I'll be ready for a big glass of wine by that time :P

Briauna had a blast Friday night at her dance (her and Emma dressed up as a cactus lol) and then at the escape room b-day party. We ended up having practice early Saturday morning, so I picked her up from the party that morning and I thought she would be grumpy and tired, but she was full of energy surprisingly. It was the muggiest and hottest 3 hour practice we've ever had. Then we met up with my Dad for lunch at Saltgrass Steakhouse. After we came home and I was so tired I fell asleep for an hour (I NEVER nap) while the kids watched a movie. Still went to bed at 9:30 exhausted lol, so I guess I was lacking some sleep.

Theme for today's family get together is Appy's. I'll be making pizza crescent rolls and mozzarella, tomato, basil skewers with balsamic drizzle. Easy enough since I won't have that much time when I get back. Going to try and upload pics. I haven't been since they end up coming up sideways or upside down. I found if I upload straight from pics. I've already uploaded on FB they come out right? Confusing. We'll see if it works lol.

Janet and Karen, when are you headed home? Today or tomorrow? Safe travels!!

First pic: Emma and Bri being a cactus lol
2nd pic: Caiden's soccer- He's all the way to the left with the ball
3rd pic: Girl's at last weekends tourney in between games

    Good Morning Everyone!

Cute pictures Michelle! I too find if I upload pics straight from my phone or iPad they come out sideways. If I edit the picture by cropping it ever so so slight it keeps them straight.
Wow! What a busy weekend. Enjoy the lull today before it gets busy again. That's great Bri had fun over the weekend. The appy family get together sounds fun too. What's everyone else bringing or won't you know till they get there?

Just the usual here today. Making pizza again for lunch since I have another dough made and will reheat the leftover chicken from last night for dinner. I'll make gravy with the drippings, mashed potatoes, and string beans to go with it. Been wanting to make either toffee or brownies and may later.
    That's about it here. Enjoy!

Morning Linda! Lol, we shared what we were bringing beforehand so that we didn't end up with 5 pots of lil' smokies haha. The others are bringing spinach dip, black bean empanadas, chicken wings, jalapeno popper wontons, burger sliders, s'mores dip, and one unknown item they can't decide on. I'll need to work out every day next week after this meal lol!

Yum on pizza again for lunch and your dinner and dessert sound yummy!!

Wow! You have had a busy weekend, Michelle! Plus it isn't over yet either! I love your family themed get-togethers they always sound delightful to me. Lol @ having to work out every day next week after this meal:)

Glad you solved your pizza making problem, Linda also nice to hear you are having it again for lunch today. Your dinner sounds great to me as well.

I hope it isn't raining at the cottage, Janet, so Jim can put the rail up on the roof today.
    How did the wedding go?

Glad you enjoyed the wedding, Karen.

We are doing laundry today. It is raining and miserable out today. We have decided to make pot roast for dinner, with roasted potatoes, gravy, and carrots.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Hi Joce! Doing laundry is the perfect chore on a rainy day. So is pot roast!

I just got a call from Michael and he would like me to get him some beer for tonight when he gets home. Would have been nice to know yesterday when I was at the store picking up wine!! My fault for not asking though, he hardly ever drinks and I just assumed he wouldn't be tonight, but it's been a rough week for him soooo.... :)

Hi Guys! Just a quick check in. The wedding was really lovely. And yes Joce, it is raining and yes, Jim is up on the roof putting on that snow guard. He's got two of his brothers helping him. As long I can still hear the drill I know he's okay. :) Heading back home as soon as he's done.

I would love a dinner of appetizers Michelle and yes I can see how the gym would be a "needed" thing to do after. LOL!! Is beer Michael's choice of drink when he does? Guess it's always good to have a 6-pack on hand for the just incase.

Yuk on the rainy day Joce. I hope all your wet weather this summer and into fall isn't an indicator of what your winter will be like. You'll have snow up to your roof!! Pot roast sounds wonderful though, pure comfort food. I did laundry yesterday but still have one more load of colors to do.

Travel safe coming home Janet. The pics on FB looked great of the wedding.

I really have this pizza thing down now and am so happy. It's been awhile since I made homemade pizzas but I do love them.
I've now been making a whole wheat dough from Cook's Illustrated that's been working great. I pre-bake the crust so I'm getting a more crispier pie. Switched the cheese to part skim and it's drier so it's not making a soggy pie and too it tastes better. And I'm not rolling the dough too thin which I was before. I'm ready to go in business!! LOL!

Did a "GoodWill" run and dropped off some stuff I had. It wasn't much but glad it's outta the house.

Our community farmers market opens tomorrow and will be on Mondays. I'll take a stroll over and see what's what. Here are the vendors for this week. Looks like it won't be much but it's a start and based on a name not even sure what the vendor is selling ...
Curries Smokin' Hot BBQ Food Truck, Fresh Produce, Gulf Coast Seafood, Ciabella Bread, Pastry Chef, Thirty One, Young Living Oils, Scentient Soaps Co, LuLaRoe, Real Time Pain Relief, Lilla Rose.

    Hi all.

    Church and potluck was nice.

The costumes are so cute, Michelle. Love the pink flowers on their heads!

Linda, I have duplicated photos, resized hem, played with cropping, etc. and sometimes they load upright. Sometimes not. Young Living Oils are great. Expensive, but the best ones available.

Hi Joce! It is sunny and cool, we had rain last night.

Hi Janet. Looking forward to hearing about the wedding.

Two ladies and a second couple came over to the RV to meet Fritz. He was a happy dog, ran from person to perso, rolled on his back, licked everyone, and enjoyed the attention. They are all dog people. So the exuberance was encouraged.

He barked at a jogger way across the field. Crazy dog!

We are going to run an errand, maybe pick up some fruit to go with cheese and crackers. Then relax and watch TV if we can find anything interesting.

Tomorrow we head for home. Lunch will be at McDonalds since their parking lot has a large truck parking area.

    See you later.
