Smashed Potato Sunday....

Good Morning Everyone! It's a lovely one here!

Not sure what we're up to today. I've got chicken thighs brining for dinner this evening.
    Pickle Brined Chicken
    and I'm going to have
    Smashed Potatoes
and some sort of veg on the side.

That's amusing about Guinea hens Karen! What surprises me is that my SIL has had them for over a year now and they are still really hyper/nervous/scared around her. I'd think that if you went out and visited and fed them every day they'd be chummy? Thanks for yours and Linda's suggestions for GF treats.

Wishing everyone a great day! Pics below....two of my table set for dinner Friday night when we had company over....and then the Bacon on a bun menu from the Farmer's Market yesterday. Even if you read it your cholesterol levels will go up. :)

Good Morning! Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Beautiful table setting Janet! and I love the menu. Reminds me of a dish an ex's Nana use to make for us ... Szalonna Hungarian Dirty Bread

Took a ride down to Naples yesterday and had dinner at the Capital Grill. It was fabulous! It was so hot and humid though (95 f) that it would have been painful to sit outside so we snuck the dog in and sat at the bar and ate dinner there. The dog has a carrier that he is contained in and he doesn't make a peep. I put him on the floor next to my chair (we sat at the end of the bar that ended against a wall) and nobody was the wiser. I suspect the hostess staff knew I had a dog in the carrier but didn't say anything and because nobody complained, nobody could see him, and he was quitter and better behaved than a child it was all good. After we ate DH ran in Whole Foods and bought me a turkey breast for the crockpot. I love this recipe and when I make it I portion it out and freeze it for hot open faced sandwiches.

Only change I make is that I don't strain the stuff out of the liquid to make the gravy. I use an immersion blender to blend it smooth and it's heavenly.

I have a "honey-do" project for my honey so we will go out in a bit and get the materials we need. I want this for my dandelion garden. He'll make some tweeks but it will look very similar. I need it to roll so he'll stabilize it better and put it on casters. I need to be able to move it during heavy rains to the covered area of the lanai.

No plans for dinner yet. Will probably grill and make a salad.

The dirty bread is neat Linda. I have some vague memory of bacon fat on bread myself from when I was a kid. Will have to get my Mom to jog my memory. That turkey breast looks phenomenal! I pinned the recipe. That's a great idea. And so is the vertical planter garden. It looks really neat. Still tickles my funny bone that it's going to be used to grow dandelions for Bella. :)

Hi everyone! I had been so busy with working both jobs and Rachel's senior year activities that I haven't had time to get on here. Well got some time now! You know when they say be careful what you wish for. I was sitting on my deck by the pool enjoying my coffee wishing I could just stay all day and not go to work. I get up and was walking down the stairs before leaving to bring some clothes to the garage and I fell down the steps. I had loathes in my hand so I am not sure if I missed a step or if I stepped down on joys tennis ball which was on the steps. Pain was excruciating. Called Frank and he came home from work. Luckily there is an urgent care just outside my neighborhood.
I couldn't move my foot at all without excruciating pain but when I woke up yesterday I could wiggle my toes again but then the rest of my body felt like I fell down a flight of stairs lol. I did have to take a Percocet last night before bed but I am getting better,
I made the best chicken salad pre fall. I had made a chicken in the crockpot for dinner Thursday night. I put the juice from the crockpot away for stock and then the leftover chicken I chopped up with seasoning, celery and mayo then I added a handful of dried cranberries. I will definitely do that again. Last night we had pizza prom PapaGinos but I think maybe pasta with meatballs for tonight. When Rachel comes home I think I will direct her on how to make. It's a useful thing to know! Lol

Morning! Your dinner sounds great, those potatoes are wonderful :) Beautiful table setting, I love it!

Lol at you sneaking your dog into the restaurant Linda :P That’s too funny. Yum on hot open face turkey sandwiches, sounds delicious!! That vertical planter is just too cool, good luck on that!

So sorry to hear about your foot Laurie :( :( PLEASE take it easy and yes, have Rachel help with dinner! She will get some good learning experience out of it as well as helping you out :)

It is a dreadful day today. I am actually glad we took a break from tournaments this weekend now, because they don’t cancel tournaments, they find a way to play and you could be waiting all day in the rain for them to figure out what to do and/or get new dirt hauled over to fill in the mud holes.

Going down to Galveston this afternoon to a girl scout’s Mom’s house that is hosting a get together to plan our fundraisers and get organized. Not sure what we are going to talk about as we have our fundraiser’s planned out all the way through September?

We made $350 at our Softball car wash yesterday, which isn’t too bad considering it was drizzling all day yesterday lol! We probably could have made double if it was a nice sunny day. Oh well, we are doing it all over again in 2 weekends anyway. I have no clue of what’s for dinner, I probably should go and dig around in my freezer. Wishing everyone a great day!!

So sorry you had such a bad fall Laurie. :( Pasta with meatballs sounds yummy. Relax and take it easy and get better asap.

Ugh at having to play in the rain at tournaments Michelle. Glad you're not there today. Nice on the Softball car wash earnings.

    Quick hi.
Will post later after we get home, for the moment I am waiting for Wayne to get a fence post corner brace thingamabob from Orschelns. Stopped atMillers Grill for lunch. Had balsamic reduction tuna, Wayne had bacon wrapped tenderloin. Stuffed so a nap is order when we get home. Several members of the Patriot Guard motorcyclists were just leaving.....he thanked them for what they do. I seriously doubt if I could ride one any more, but the newer "trikes" do look fantastic.

Hi. Home and napped and finally have time to post.
Love the pictures, Janet. It took a sec before I noticed the cute frog!

Ha ha on sneaking the pooch inside, Linda. When we lived in Germany, dogs were often in the restaurants. We sat at a booth along the wall and a big dog crawled out font under the bench where I sat. It had been napping, I guess.

Glad you could stop by Laurie. Hope you are on the road to recovery. Agree that Rachel can help with supper.

Hi Michelle. Around these parts, $500 is a good return on a car wash. Good luck on the next one.

Time to do chores ... probably need to water the chickens tonight.

    Have a nice evening.
