Trying to think of a witty title! I miss summer Dinner was so much fun. We left all the kids here and ordered them pizza and the appropriate junk food. And then the six of pus piled into Franks new car. Lol he has a third row seat that is surprisingly roomy! For dinner I had a cup of lobster bisque. It was good but I wish for just a junk of lobster in it. Then I got a lobster roll. OMG good. They come in three sizes. I got the small for $16.99 the middle was $29.99 and the large was $39.99 but the small was enough I could barely finish it. For desert I got .........................a root beer float martini. That was Awesome and s easy I'm surprised I never thought of it before. It was root beer shnaups. Vanilla vodka in a tall glass with a little rootbeer served in a tall glass with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Wow yummy. I think that will be my summer party drink lol we had a lot of fun and laughs until about 10ish when all our cell phones started ringing simultaneously. Doreen's son was throwing up and crying , I think he was more embarrassed to get sick in front of all the girls he is 12 Poor thing not sure if it is stomach bug or that he ate too much. We came home and sanitized the whole house Gonna pcheck in with them to see how he is feeling in a bit frank is still feeling a little run down He is kind of making me nervous because I know he is having chest pains because I saw him grabbing at his chest but he lies when he is sick. Every time I ask him what is wrong he just says I have a cold and I am run down. Haven't heard a cough or a sneeze out of the guy so how is it a cold?
I like to see if my pictures post before I describe them because more often than not they do not lol First picture is of Rachel and Becca with the playgroup kids I used to have a playgroup that met at my house once a week when they were little. Lol all those kids are teenagers now or almost teenagers. Second picture is of me and frank in high school. Can you say holy hair! Lol frank is wearing peach shorts but it didn't come out in the copy. The third picture is a a rare picture of frank with my moms old cat. Rare because frank doesn't really like cats and that cat was a mean bit*ch!
Ooopss.....Sorry Laurie...I usually always check if someone has just posted before I hit the button and I didn't today. :( I shall move my post over here and ask Tina if she could get rid of the other one. :) Giggle on typo "Six of pus". :) So envious of your Lobster Bisque and Lobster Roll! Exactly what I would have ordered! That must be some large lobster roll for $40! Holy smokes! And I love Rootbeer floats too although I've never had one made into a Martini. I imagine it would just make it taste better! :) Love your pictures! They're excellent! Frank's wearing a Canada shirt! :) You could be right about Dahlia and the cooking show. But how long does a show take to do? I wouldn't think long. Here's my post moved over.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LORI! Wishing you a most special day from all of us in ODD! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25ZWrQ_RYvs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9O-pbAmN744 (That's a Top Shelf Madras in the glass by the way) :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjF1bG5LUcs Have an excellent celebration! MUAH! And....it's also Groundhog's Day! And I'm a big fan of Groundhogs...so HAPPY GROUNDHOG'S DAY EVERYBODY! Not sure what I'm doing for dinner this evening. Maybe grilling up some steak? Benjamin visited a Temple today. It's gorgeous! Have a great Saturday Everyone!
Lol I didn't even see the typo. Damn auto correct on the iPad. Looking at that picture we must be 18 because we went to Canada for a weekend when we were 18 and loving the fact that the drinking age was 18 and not 21 like here! Happy birthday Lori!!
Janet, I'm happy I saw the other thread! Loved the birthday cake!! And the cupcake in your avatar is too cute! YEP! I'm a groundhog. Thanks so much for started my birthday off!! Loved all the videos, too. Thanks for taking me to the beach with a top shelf madras for my birthday!! lol Steak always sounds good. I can't wait to see the pix of the Temple!
Laurie, dinner last night sounds great. Too bad your friend's son got sick. Dahlia popped in a week or so ago and said she'd be gone from GR for a while. I wondered about that, too. Filming was supposed to start after the new year according to some websites, but, the exact dates weren't known. Last year it aired in the summer...so I'd say they are filming now. Hmmmm....maybe. They can't talk about it, though. When she comes back we will have to bite our tongues and wait to see when it airs! How hard will that be? lol I just hope all is well with her. :)
NO COOKING FOR ME!!!!! lol I just went to get a trim and drove through Hardee's and got a biscuit n gravy, and now I'm going to cover up these trailer park roots I'm sporting. (Are they trailer park roots if they are GRAY? lol) I guess I AM gonna have to do laundry on my birthday, though. Unless that FLF shows up. (Frickin' Laundry Fairy!)
And Laurie....I'd be worried to if Frank looks like he's having heart pains. Better safe than sorry. Haul his bum to the Dr. :) Fun you went to Canada for a weekend. Where in Canada did you go? :) Lori! Glad you don't have to do any cooking. The biscuit 'n gravy sounded yummy. I've never had that. Boo to the laundry. :) Have a great day!
We went to Montreal. That was the thing to do in college. Rent a bus and go with a bus load of college kids and party. We went quite a few times. That was before you needed a passport and a security check. Lol I don't remember nothing about any of the trips or even what we saw if we did see anything outside the bars. Ahhh to be young and dumb again.
Laurie, OH WOW! Your dinner sounds just awesome!!! I would kill for that lobster bisque and that lobster roll too! I have never heard of root beer schnapps before but I bet it was very good. Gee if you made a doctor's appointment for Frank would he go? Better safe than sorry I say. I could be a number of things but it is best he is checked out. Love the pics and I like Janet thought what is he doing with a Canada shirt on? LOL We used to have a drinking age here that was 21 and we used to go to NY or Quebec when I was a teenager b/c their drinking age was 18 years. Wouldn't you know the year I turned 21 the changed it back to 18!!! I have the same sneaky feeling about Dahlia too! She was very vague about what she was going to do and I noticed this week on a news site that they have been filming Master chef in Venice Beach California. I was going to e-mail everyone as I have the same gut feeling.
Go Dahlia Go!!!
Lori, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Enjoy yourself and have a great day!
Janet, A very good selection of birthday wishes for Lori:-) I hope you can get outside and grill those steaks tonight. I am not much of a winter grill person but sometimes I just get the urge to do it.
I am having salmon tonight with a baked potato and asparagus.
Happy Birthday Lori!!!! I'll spare you my singing. My favorite stepmom out of Dad's many wives shared your birthday, Bless her in Heaven. Hardee's makes a good biscuit, we only have one in town and it is so far away. Glad temptation isn't too close. Wish I could send FLF (Funny Laundry Fred) to you, Fred has become quite adept at washing, he is remembering to add laundry soap, only took a year of reminders and redoing his batches. Have a wonderful day m'dear! Trailer Park roots are the new "ombre" hair color. Dark roots and light ends.....that is my story and I'm sticking to it.
Ya'll are so much smarter than me, to link Dahlia's sudden absence to GR's Master Chef? How thrilling if true.
Lori, great pics!! You are a great couple, then and now. A mean cat? Ouch. Love your supper, so rich and yummy. Hope all are well and the "bug" stays away. Hmm, ditto on dragging Frank to the Doctor on the chest pain.
Okay. Janet, you'll have to try a buttery biscuit doused in sausage gravy, it is a Southern thing. Have you ever tried the familiar troop meal, SOS? Or creamed chipped beef on toast? BaG (biscuits and gravy) is better. Can't wait to see the temple pics from Benjamin.
Fred just served a yummy plate of pan sauteed Turkey Piccadillo with an egg over easy on top. Great breakfast, nice repurposed leftover. Taking a thermos of broccoli/spinach soup to work with a fresh green salad/with faux crab stix. Made a dressing of figs/meyer lemon balsamic vinegar. Spiced fruit salad and a yogurt. A cheese stick and fresh strawberries for a snack.
Fred is getting the harissa marinated steak bits. over a side of cheesy cauliflower russet puree and a big bowl of cinnamon stewed apples. His lunch is broccoli spinach soup and a grilled cheese.
O.K. I stand corrected on the Place they are filming in I just checked that site again and it was dated way back in 2012! They did say they would be filming this season in January and if you were picked you have to be available for January, February and March if needed.
Tina, Sounds like Fred is feeling much much better now:-) Have a good shift at work and enjoy all your lovely feasts.
Frank says if he doesn't feel better by Monday he will see the doctor. Kind of hard to drag him anywhere. I'm making him lie down all day. He wanted to go out and get pellets but instead we got them delivered and he can skip Rachel's basketball game. That cat was mean. I found the little thing and brought it home ...... Just until we found a home for her. Yup. My mom had her a day or so and refused to give e her up. You would think she would be grateful but she bit me every opportunity she got and was just all together a bitch. Making my Kailua cake for dessert tonight and trying to remember to take a picture of it to post with the recipe. Tina I am always envious of your menus
Snowing on your birthday? You asked for that didn't ya Lori? :) LOL @ your Montreal trips. You and Frank will have to do that again someday Laurie and then make a jaunt over here to see me. We're only about an hour and a half away. :) LOL @ the mean cat. Oooooo on the Kaluha cake. Hi Joce! Mmmm....your dinner sounds lovely. I am going to grill the rib eye. Think I'll do Tinfoil Potatoes and one last salad to use up the La Feria sauce on. Is SOS like Spam Tina? I think my Mom fed me Spam when I was a kid. Never heard of creamed chip beef. Your breakfast sounded lovely as does your lunch and Fred's menu for the day! Have a few leftovers from last night's supper to eat up for lunch and Jim's also requested some Won Ton soup. He's out for a walk. It's clear but cold. My lungs are actually hurting me from yesterday's tests. Like they're inflamed or something? Weird. So I passed on the walk.
Thanks for all the bday wishes!! No get together today. The snow has put a stop to that...gonna have a re-do. And she had invited friends that I didn't know she had...it was gonna be a full on surprise party!! How sweet is that???? OH well...it will be fun when we are not worrying about the weather. :) Donna just called and there was a truck that slid off into the ditch just behind her on the way home. (She and some of the other girls live in the boonies...so...postponing was a good call).
Janet, you can delete comments you make in the group. The admin has to delete threads...but the thread title doesn't go away when it's deleted.
LOL at Funny Laundry Fred, Tina! :) You meals always sound like something straight out of a restaurant...even your take to work lunches! :)
Joce I wold love your dinner!! I LOVE asparagus! Baked potatoes and salmon, too. Now I guess I get to decide what to cook for my bday dinner. I do NOT want leftovers. LOLOL
When I turned 18 the drinking age here was 18...and they raised it to 21 after I turned 21...so I hit that just right. (Or wrong...depending on how you look at it...lol)
Dahlia posted some days back, late at night, that life had her by the heel and she needed to drop off for a bit. She promised to be back when things quieted down. Not to worry.
Just made a big mid-day meal of the pork burritos I had frozen a couple weeks back with refried beans and a simple salad. Pretty sure that is dinner today. Its nice to have stuff tucked away for a lazy day.
Feel bad for you that your Birthday party got cancelled Lori. I know you'll have a blast when you have it in future. Do hope you make something fun for your dinner this evening anyway. Pour yourself a glass of something tasty and watch a movie that you would love. Nice on the burritos Laura. I've never made those. What are you bringing to the Football Gala tomorrow? You're just becoming a regular traveller to Sacramento aren't ya Marie! :) Your picture of the cake is excellent Laurie Easy Kahlua Cake .....perhaps its on its side because it has a cup of Kahlua in it? :) Tee Hee.
Good evening all. After a couple cocktails all ready this afternoon the Kahlua Cake looks straight up to me........lol!
Happy Birthday Lori!!!!!!!!!!!!! So sorry your party is postponed but hey, something more to look forward too!
Tina.............you can cook for me any day girl!!!!!
I was one of those that was legal to drink at 18 but then lost out to the 21 when it changed in the state of Michigan. Didn't really stop much........just made it more inconvenient to get.............lol. God bless older brothers and cousins!!!!!!!!!
Not quite sure what is on the menu tonight. Boys are at Dad's tonight and will be thru the Super Bowl tomorrow. He's having a little party/get together but not sure we will go. Hubs is still sick and grouchy, I'm still sick and even grouchier so probably better to stay home and not socialize. Shame though, usually always have something going on for the Super Bowl. Hubs is not a football fan at all. Being from Germany I quess he just doesn't understand it or care. But has always had fun at our parties in the past. Even though it might not be my team(s) involved, I have always enjoyed watching it and partying it up. Will have it on tomorrow whether hubs likes it or not. He can go to his "man cave", which is his little place set up in the corner of the garage, if he doesn't want to watch. (yes, he is still licking those wounds from the other night, lol) Actually his little cave is quite delightful. He has a couch, tv, computer, coffee table and all his keyboards and musical equipment set up out there. All closed off from the rest of the garage. Have some brats in the fridge. Might just do that with some fried taters. Kind of a copy from not too long ago though. Ah, what the heck.............I see red cabbage in my near future..........
Hope all enjoy the evening and when the time comes.............Sleep Sweet..........as always...................
Work was strange, Never had to deal with so many clueless people. One lady got notice her facebook was linked with her gmail and she was CONVINCED that meant her check card was at risk. Took thirty minutes to talk her down from the edge and I shut her card down per her request because she thought her neighbors were stealing her money. Hmmmmm. And the man who laid into me full blast because I would not give him his account number if he provided his info. Just thought I would rattle off the numbers so he could get a pizza.
Lunch was good if a bit skimpy. Thanks for the compliments...could you tell I bought a boatload of new seasonings.....Yep!! I had two people tell me I looked thinner....I've been walking a lot.
