Soap on Sunday

  • LindaLMT 7 years ago
Good Morning! Wishing everyone a great Sunday.
Happy Birthday JOCE!!! Wishing YOU a fabulous day!! Enjoy your special dinner out tonight!!

Picture loaded sideways (hate when it does that and there is no way to correct it) but it is of the last batch of soap I made, the one I intend to ship off to my friend when my bags come in this week. I ordered perforated bags, the bags have little tiny holes so the soap can continue to breath. The darker part is the top part and it is scented with a blend of vanilla scent and milk, honey, and oatmeal ... the bottom part is unscented (so it wouldn't turn dark) and has oatmeal mixed in it. Because I made it with goat's milk I'm naming it "Nanny Goat & Oats". I also did a pencil line (a thin sprinkle) with cocoa between the two colors for more visual definition. I'm pretty pleased with the recipe too as I once again changed it makes a harder bar, the last recipe's bars were a little too soft when first unmolded. I always save an end cut for me, a much much smaller bar so I can try it and even though it's no where near cured I like the feel and soapiness of the recipe. Now to finalize a name and label. I have two ideas and I'll run them by you to see what you all think too.

Cute GS story Kimmer. The best part is I think you all are having just as much fun and GS is.

Nice on winning a stay at an RV resort Karen. The experience will be good and I'm sure you'll meet lots of people and learn even more.

Happy you got the cottage closed up Bren. One more thing done, as they say.

Happy Birthday too to your DS Janet ... WOW ... so many birthday's and anniversary's this month. Enjoy the Pepper Palace store.

We found a new "foodie" store yesterday. We've driven by it a thousand times too and never thought much about it. DH yesterday said I want to go there and check out their meats so we did. It's called "Mario's Italian Meat Market and Deli" and it was really cool inside. Lot's of imported Italian goods and big cases filled with fresh meats, pastries, cheeses, breads, and prepared foods. DH bought 2 NY strip steaks that we made for dinner and the quality was great. Going to go back (once I think about what I need) and try some other things.

That's about it here. Looking forward to hearing about your Sunday.

Linda, your soap is downright gorgeous! It looks like a big slab of some delectable fudge! :) It's just beautiful! NICE on the Italian Deli. LOVE stuff like that. Plus I love the smell of places like that when you first go in the door. Heaven! :) What are you making for dinner this evening?

We were out of the house by 9 to watch one of the girl's hockey games, then back home where we were able to have a short Skype call with Benjamin for his birthday. Just had some leftovers from last night's pizza and wings for lunch and then we'll head out again. Since we're in "Wine Country" I'd really like to go visit a couple of vineyards before heading over to Jim's other brother's for dinner.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOCE! Hope you had a fabulous brunch and that your tummy was behaving so you could properly enjoy it! :)

    Wishing everyone a great day!

I haven't a clue what to make for dinner. Maybe a trip back to Mario's ... they had so many types of sausages ... maybe a sausage kebab for me and DH can pick what he wants. Hmmm, what'll that be ... steak. :)

Gorgeous soap Linda! I love the cocoa line between the colours, just beautiful! :)

Happy Birthday Joce!!! I hope you have a fabulous day, best wishes :)

Happy Birthday to Benjamin!! That's great you got to talk him while you're away Janet :)

Sophia has had a fever above 39.5C (102.2F) for the past two days. With the chills. Last night her nose got stuffy, her tonsils are swollen and now her stomach hurts. I'm pretty sure it's the flu as it started going around our Province early and they don't give out the Immunizations until after the 24th, dang it! So I guess the flu will go around our house early, it's just inevitable....:( But I am taking oil of oregano, zinc+ echinachea a few hours after the oregano, and some elderberry syrup after that! Lol....So hoping....
I have some Oktoberfest Brat's in the fridge so we'll have that with perogies and a garden salad. The kids can have leftover lasagna soup as they aren't big fan's of perogies, weird right? Lol ;)
I'm on no sleep and the words on my screen are fuzzy, so I best get off and rest my eyes. Sophia is cuddled up in bed with the mini dvd player. So perhaps I can close my eyes......

Gorgeous looking soap Linda. One day I'll have to try my hand at soap making. There's an Italian store around the corner from me and I could spend hours there. Sausages are always popular here.
Happy Birthday to your son Janet and enjoy the wineries.
My, it's quiet today. I just got back from a quick trip to The Bay. I've been looking for new cutlery for the kitchen and the brand that I wanted was on sale, bonus.
I had planned on Greek for dinner but as I was digging in the freezer I found three seasoned chicken breasts from Costco so we'll have those. I'm going to have Greek salad and Crispy Baby Potatoes

Oh no on the flu Shona. Hoping Sophia's fever breaks soon. Poor baby. Good you are supplementing now. I'm going to be ordering Monolaurin and it may be something worth while looking into and too is gentle enough for the little ones ... just one example of what it is/does ... http://naturalmedicalcare.com/improving-immune-system-with-monolaurin/
Yum on your dinner! Sometime try baking perogies ... they are fantastic ... they get brown and crispy on the outside, with a soft tender dough on the in and of course the filling is the filling but who doesn't like a mashed potato filling. I'll bake some for a snack at about 350 degrees till they look like they are done (I should time it).

Nice buy getting new cutlery on sale Bren! Dinner sounds yum too!

I'm going to pull out a package of turkey in gravy for hot turkey sandwiches. Probably will make mashed potatoes and peas and make a well to hold the hot turkey in the potatoes and skip the bread.

    It is very quiet today.

Happy Birthday 🎉 to Joce and Benjamin! (Tried three times to type that sentence and it was sabotaged by my iPad! Yikes!)

Soap is so pretty, Linda. Yay on the deli!

Poor Sophia. Hope she feels better soon.

Great that your cutlery was on sale Bren! Love it when it works out that way!

Has anyone ordered from Seventavenue.com or Countrydoor.com? I don't want Fingerhut quality and have not ordered from either one yet.

Agree on the football, Janet. Not my fav.

Summer has returned??? 88F tomorrow then dropping to normal temps later.

Considering a short RV trip just to get used to it before the BIG trip. HA HA!

    See you later.
