Soggy Saturday!

Good Morning everyone! I didn't mention yesterday that our coffee maker died!!!!! It had been leaking water for a little while, and then finally yesterday it just quit. It was a Mr. Coffee brand with a thermal carafe which we really like. I checked online but couldn't see the same one. The closest I found was by Oster. Since I was going to the Mall I checked the price of it at "The Bay". Regular $149.99, on sale this week for $119.99. Checked Amazon......$69.99! Seriously? I realize that online shopping has the advantage in that they don't have to pay for a store front, but a $50 difference!!!! I got free shipping. They said it wouldn't arrive 'til next Friday but I suspect it'll be here earlier. In the mean time Jim dug through our old camping tote and dragged out our percolator. It works pretty darn well. Coffee problem solved. :)

    How's Bella this morning Linda?

Joce, I hope you get some McD's for brunch today. I'm craving it!!!!! :)

Sorry you and Wayne are suffering through hay fever Karen. :( Your Memorial Day dinner sounds yummy. Do you top your cheesecake with anything? You were saying you were contemplating making a spinach dish as well. I have ALWAYS wanted to make spinach dip in a bread bowl. LOLOL. Lori (who used to be on GR here) had a recipe.....

Robins Favorite Easy Stovetop Spinach Dip

While I was searching for that recipe I also came across this one that I had bookmarked. It looks very pretty and would be nice for a spring time salad I think.

    Raspberry Spinach Salad

Did you end up making steak last night?

Yum on your steak dinner last night Kimmer! Hoping the weather there is good and you are able to meet up with your girlfriend at Olive Garden!!!! Again, I hope the weather behaves for you. At least you have a grill now that you can cook on even if your electricity goes out. :)

Despite it being a gray, rainy morning here, it is very peaceful and VERY green. :) There is a Barred Owl hooting not too far away and bluejays squawking nearby. Chippy is looking for peanuts.

Jim and I are just enjoying our coffee in the family room. Haven't discussed our plans for the day. We have decided just to eat leftovers for dinner tonight to get on top of them. I have Hot Chicken in there plus some beef shishkebob.

Wishing everyone a great day!!!!! Stay dry! :)

    Good morning!

We had the Chipotle Steak last night. It was pretty good. Nothing outstanding and the steak could have been a tad more tender, but pretty tasty anyway. Leftovers are good....with the home delivered meal kits there are few if any.

It is to be 90 F today....we will be mowing grass this morning...such is life. Sunny all day. I gave up on weather forecasts....storms all around and no rain until late at night when a tiny cell materialized and barely damped the ground.

The cheesecake will not have a topping but I will have at least one for those who wish to add some.

Yesterday the work on the new shower reached a halt until the Lowe’s people can do their own measuring. They evidently prefer it that way and it does mean if they mismeasure they are responsible. Wayne’s buddy is hesitant to install the Onyx kit bec it is put together on site and has to have perfect measurements, unlike conventional showers. August or July timeframe before we have a real shower again. It has to be manufactured after the measurements are done.

Last night as we ate supper a commotion arose from two cats. When I looked, AC and Mauser were chasing a rather large mouse. It escaped capture and raced down the hall into the bedroom! Fritz was more inclined to beg for morsels of people food than to chase after the intruder.

Later I heard a noise and went to investigate in the master bath. Mauser sat behind the litter box so I thought she was debating whether the cleanliness suited her and nudged it to encourage her acceptance. Out from behind it flew Mr. Big Mouse and ran into the closet, then dashed under a dresser. We gave up locating it and put out five traps, out of reach of curious cats. Of the four cats and one mouse-hunting dog, only Mauser stayed on the job. It remains at large as we speak.

Ugh on 90F Karen. What flavour topping are you going to have available for the cheesecake? Wow on the shower having to be so exacting. So Mr. Big Mouse remains at large. LOL. I'd be freaking. Hope it gets caught soon.

Made a yummy tomato cheese omelette with hot sauce for brekkie. It's SO wet outside and the mosquitoes are ravenous!

    Good Morning Everyone.

OMG on the difference in the price of the coffee pot Janet! Pays, literally, to shop around. Nice that you found some clothes you liked while out yesterday. I could really use another two pair of "weather proof" sandals but will look on-line when I get time.

Do you need rain Karen? I hope you get something if you need it. Too funny about the "mouse attack". Maybe they will catch it today or the trap will. You would think now that the weather is nice they would stay outside. Mauser deserves a treat today for sure.

Hope it stays dry enough today for you to out and enjoy lunch with your girlfriend Kimmer. Sounds too like you are really happy to have a grill, I'm sure it's make making dinner much easier.

Bella is doing OK. Still not out-of-the-woods. I was up a few time with her last night massaging her belly, syringe feeding water, trying to get her to eat, and making her exercise. I did get some output but she isn't eating on her own yet and needs to or else I have to continue syringe feeding a mush to get food in her which she isn't happy about. I'm thinking the trapped gas must have been causing discomfort because when I massaged her belly last night I could smell it's release and that was good. The exercise, making her move around, helps too. I take her back this afternoon for another sub-q injection to keep her insides hydrated, I have the appointment and it won't hurt. I'm going to ask the vet too to for an injection or two to take home so if needed I can administer myself over the weekend being they are closed Sunday and Monday. She's just so dam difficult to handle and again not a bad thing meaning she must be feeling better. Now to just eat and drink on her own.

Did I mention how very tired and cranky I am. I don't even want to be around me.

I see our Governor for the state has declared a "state of emergency" because of the subtropical storm Alberto. I don't think we have much to worry about, he does it, so he says, so he has access to government resources should the state need them.

Cherry pie topping or fresh strawberries are probably the toppings, Janet, no one but me eats blueberries or it could be “patriotic” LOL! Will pick up Hebrew National hot dogs for lunches, Wayne wants brats also.

Yes, I can empathize with days when one does not want to be around oneself, Linda. Ha ha. Glad Bella is improving. Still no idea what brought this on? With gas buildup it almost sounds like IBS in humans! She has a good mama for sure. At least LD is not up all night!

No mouse sightings: it is either hiding in the room (ugh!), escaped to the basement (2 traps on the steps waiting), crawling thru just cleaned clothing (&#$@,), or has made its way thru the gauntlet of dozing cats to wherever it gained entrance. None of the above is good so I hope it went outside again. It is not cool getting up to use the bathroom and fearing having to step on a deceased mouse that the cats left in the middle of the doorway. Which they have done before.

The yard is almost finished except for some trim that Wayne going to finish and the area between the raised garden beds, which is not wide enough for the zero turn. I am heading for a makeshift shower —- can’t wait until we RV to Branson again so we have a real shower for a few days....if we could hook up water to the RV here we could use it for showers, but that is a bit more work than we want to do for such a short time.

    The laundry is waiting!

    See you later.

Oh dear Linda. Poor Bella and poor you! That's a lot to go through. Hope she just magically fixes. :) Again, I know I would if I had to, but I'd be awfully squeamish and nervous to give one of my pet's an injection. You are a great pet owner and L.D. and Bella are VERY lucky to have you. I'm sure you slept horribly worrying about Bella and you totally deserve to feel tired and cranky.

I vote cherry pie filling Karen. :) Yum on Hotdogs and Brats too. That's great you two got the yard finished. Good luck with your laundry.

I got the kitchen cleaned up and then I unpacked and set up the Dehumidifier we bought at Costco last week. Our basement gets really humid in the summer time so I'm pleased we can combat that properly this year.

We had to buy another dehumidifier for our basement also, Janet. Our old one finally keeled over. I have given shots to horses but not the smaller critters. It is pretty easy unless you have a horse who gets freaked or skittish. The best technique is to tap their neck so they think you are just patting them then stick the needle in and wait till they rellax before finishing. Some just stand quietly, but we had one who was in pain and freaked at the needle....she even reacted to the rubbing alcohol smell bec she anticipated a shot.

Good news...the mouse is deceased. One of the traps in the closet got it. It was definitely a biggy. Now I can relax and call off the National Guard! LOL! I told Wayne he should thank Mauser bec she scared it into the closet, but he was not impressed.

Guess I better see about lunch. Have a good day.

Awwww @ the horse who knew she was going to get a shot when she smelled rubbing alcohol Karen. Oh dear. Yayyy the Mouse is gone. Ugh.

A cousin of mine sent me a recipe for a grilled cheese with bacon and pickles. LOL. I made one up for Jim and I to share and we also shared the last pc. of Quiche and the leftover shishkebob so we're doing well cleaning out the fridge.

We had leftovers afor lunch, Janet. I had a chicken sandwich and Wayne had a burger. Cheese and bacon ....esp. grilled ....sounds like a winner.

Yes, I am happy the mouse has been dealt with. I decided to take a short nap, which became a not so short one, and just finished adding permanent press shirts to the washer. Laundry is ever multiplying. Mauser curled up beside me (after climbing over my back to find the right spot), Mel joined me and they jockeyed for the best place. Crazy cats.

It is a gorgeous day! The next four days are supposed to hit 90F, warm for May. Hoping it won’t mean a hot summer.

Good evening and hello to all. Yuk on the coffee maker dying Janet. We actually have two that sit side by side on our counter as hubs and I do not share the same taste of coffee. He likes his very strong but also uses cream and sugar. I like mine black so his coffee is like mud to me, lol. We recently bought him one of those that grinds the fresh beans first and then makes the coffee. He loves it! I prefer my boring ground coffee. Glad the mouse was caught Karen.

Had a delightful lunch with my girlfriend. Very fun to catch up! Just got back from getting Chloe groceries and stopped at Fresh Market. Got a lovely pork tenderloin that we thought we would have tonight but the boys will not be home. So no point in that as it is a bit large. Also bought some nice brats, which we have decided to have tonight. Having grandson Kaiden for the night. Karli and Kevin have plans and Kaiden was suppose to stay with Kevin's mom and one of her grandsons. But apparently Kaiden does not like this boy as he is much older (12) and tends to bully him or just ignore him. Before we left on our errands, Kaiden called me and said, Grammie, can I come to your house tonight, I really don't want to go to Angie's house? In such a delightful and sweet voice...........how could I say no, lol! And of course he can! We rarely go out at night on the weekends so no worries. LOL, then daughter got on the phone and said, Mom, I really did not know he had taken my phone and called you! I said that was ok and at least he knows how to find my number/name on your phone! But she agreed that he would be happier here. Sooooooo got him some of his favorite cookies while I was out! Grammie fest tonight!

Well, apparently we (Pinellas County) are under a tropical storm warning. Great! I realize hurricane season is right around the corner but man...............not ready yet! But we have plenty of food we can grill if we lose power. Really just going to be a heavy rain event. Linda, not sure what is expected down your way.

Enjoy the rest of the evening and Sleep Sweet All............as always...................

It's good you got a nice nap in Karen. Those are high temperatures you're getting alright!

Good Evening Kimmer! LOL @ two coffeemakers. It makes perfect sense! Last year when Jim and I went out to visit my Mom, we brought our coffee maker along for the very same reason. She likes her coffee weak like dishwater and we like ours to have some oomph. :) I saw one of those coffee makers that grinds the beans first. It's very cool! Have a lovely evening with Kaiden. I believe you've mentioned that bully before. :(
