Good Morning Everyone! We're getting rain!!! Whoop! How is Florida doing with that hurricane today?

Not sure what to make for dinner yet but I'm thinking maybe Chicken Schnitzel cuz Karen got me craving Schnitzel. LOLOL.

Going to make Poached eggs with toast and peameal bacon for breakfast in just a bit.

Will probably do some house cleaning and try and finish packing today.

Nice on the 8 pints of canned tomatoes Karen. Wayne got a lot done yesterday. I think power washing is a blast. Once you get it started up I keep looking for things to power wash. LOL. I'm surprised your daughter never got tested for Covid as you'd mentioned quite a while ago that the Dr. figured she had it hadn't you? How could people receive false positive test results if they never even took the test? Sounds kinda weird. Enjoy your potluck today.

Your dinner last night sounded fabulous Kimmer. Hope your heat lets up.

    Wishing everyone a good Sunday.

    Good Morning Everyone.
Sun and lots of cloud mix today and warm. We haven't had rain in the past 3 days and not sure if some will come later or not. Isaias has been downgraded to a tropical storm and looks to only be bringing wet weather on the coastal east side.

It is definitely time for a new mattress. Flipping the mattress only made it worse because memory foam mattresses should not be flipped so last night at 11:00 we were flipping it back. I had a rough night sleep because my hips hurt so much from where the mattress we have now no longer supports well. I try and scooch down as much as I can, my feet even hang off the bed, but it's not far enough. We will get out sometime this week and look. I'll probably get another Tempur-pedic. I just need a mattress, the frame and adjustable box we have is still good.
No clue about dinner just yet but I do have NY strip steaks thawed and chicken breast thawed so it'll be one or the other.
Our association is now bringing in a food truck 1x week for 'activities'. Each week a different vendor comes thru and the days/times vary. Last week a BBQ truck came in. Today is a truck that sells cookie dough sold like ice cream. As much as I like cookie dough a mouthful is about all I can commit to. I can't imagine eating 1 or 2 ice cream sized scoops of it and with toppings.

I've always wanted to can jams but I really don't use them even though they are better than anything store bought and I'm not a fan of canned vegetables except for tomatoes for tomato sauce.

How did your canning go yesterday Karen? Both you and Wayne were busy bees yesterday and deserve to rest today. How long has daughter not been well now? If I remember some months ago her doctor initially didn't test her, right :(

OMG! I spoke with the senior lady this morning, the one we are guardians for, and she informed me that she will be moving to the independent living building in the complex she is in now. SAY WHAT??!!
I can't reason with her why this is a huge mistake but it's going to be. I can't force her to stay where she is. She only listened to my husband and being he can't talk …
She doesn't drive, is somewhat autistic, wasn't managing on her own because of declining health which is why she is where she is, etc.
She'll need to arrange for a mover, finish furnishing it because it'll be larger with separate living areas, be on her own for medication management, be on her own should she need assistance with nursing care, etc. and I am in no position to be "helping" nor do I want to.
She told me she'll be moving end of month for the begging of next. All I can say is "Good Luck".

    Hi everyone!
Just thought I would stop by and say hi. My sleep patterns are still wacky. I do read the posts though.
I want to wish you a very safe trip to RR Janet. Glad to hear your furnace and AC were installed. I am assuming your Mom will be back in quarantine for two weeks again, after going to Winnipeg again? I hope all goes well with your stay there. Safe travels and stay safe.
    Wishing everyone a wonderful Sunday!

Glad your weather is behaving Linda! Good news! Great that you're going to head out mattress shopping this week. I think that's very fun that they are bringing in Food Trucks once a week! I've never seen the appeal in cookie dough myself to tell you the truth. Oh goodness on the Senior lady and I agree with you, there's not a darn thing you can do about it. Perhaps her putting in all the work and organization to move will prove too difficult and she'll back out. Such a tough thing. :(

Hey Joce! Nice to see you! No, for whatever reason the Home Care Workers told Mom she doesn't have to Quarantine this time after her procedure in Winnipeg. Don't know if it is just the easing of the rules since the end of April or has something to do with me rattling the cage with the supervisor or what.

I just called Mom actually. Jim and I talked this morning about how to handle things once we get to Rainy River. My cousin and her husband are arriving in RR as well the day after us from Vancouver. They've announced that they are going to be self isolating for two weeks. Ontario doesn't have any travel restrictions and since Jim and I are residents of Ontario I don't want to self isolate once I get there because that means I couldn't see Mom for the first two weeks. But....we don't want to freak out the other residents in her building or ruffle the feathers of the Home Care Workers, so as a compromise we've decided that we will social distance for the first two weeks. We won't have Mom out to the house. When we go visit her we'll stay outside on her lawn six feet away. I'll still bring her food and meals but again I won't go inside her apartment. I'll just leave it at her doorstep for her to bring in. She's disappointed but I think she understands. :(

A very wise decision on your part, Janet. They just announced an employee of Sobey's in Kanata has Covid19 and their last day of work was July 22. Scary stuff indeed.

Yes, I heard about the Sobey's employee Joce. Hope they're okay. It's the store over in Glencairn that had the Covid scare. I shop at the one on March Rd.

Ran in to town as Jim wanted to buy a few things at the Hardware store to bring with him to RR. We grabbed a Shawarma for lunch and brought it home to eat. It's really cooled down.

Good evening and hello to all. We've had a bit of rain off and on today but nothing to really write home about. Still very warm. Good luck on the mattress shopping Linda. We replaced ours, I think it was last year as it was waaaayyyyy over due. Hi Joce! Missed you! Hope you get your sleep patterns in order soon. When all this Covid started we had an employee at our local Publix test positive but nothing major ever came from it and only heard about it in one news story. Only thing that concerned me was he worked in the produce department :( But all was well. Had to google a Shawarma Janet, as I really had no clue, lol! Looks good!

Reuben sammies here tonight. Do you ever wake up in the morning and suddenly crave something that you don't normally crave? Well, for me today it was a Reuben, which is odd. Must have had some wild dreams I don't remember, lol! Reuben's were my mom's absolute favorite so maybe I dreamed about her..........who knows. Had to go to the grocery anyway but all I needed to make them was the corned beef and the bread. The bakery had my favorite marble rye which I was pleased about as they don't always. Already had kraut ( I live with a German so there is always some sort of kraut in the pantry, lol) Made up a homemade Russian sauce earlier that my mom used to use so good to go! Will serve that with some left over potato salad from the other day and a pickle. There ya go, good enough!

Hope all enjoy the rest of this Sunday and please try to Sleep Sweet................as always.........

Glad your weather is behaving itself too Kimmer! Shawarmas are pretty popular in Canada, in larger cities anyway. Ottawa has about 50 Shawarma shops! LOL. Funny you had a craving for a Reuben. Jim and I were talking about them this morning too! GMTA! I'm different though in that I hate the Russian dressing. I always ask for mine without. Lovely on the marbled rye.

Jim and I were out for a hot tub earlier and it was just pouring!!!!

So I did end up thawing b/s chicken thighs and made schnitzel. Am serving it with a pork gravy (from a pkg.), smashed potatoes and some sliced tomatoes with fresh basil, basil olive oil, pepper and black lava sea salt.

The best news of the day.....MY FREEZER IS TOTALLY EMPTY! I managed to squeeze any remaining items in to my fridge freezer. I'll defrost it tomorrow and clean it out and then it'll be all set for me to fill up when we get back. :) I'm pretty proud of myself. It required quite a bit of organization.
