Marie, so nice to have you check-in. I was worried about you. I understand busy and I feel for you. Remember, All work and no play...........I'm glad that the business is so successful. I do hope everyone is well.

I'm swiffering today and the wet mopping. I have the bedding to wash. Dinner to be determined. I have a $50.00 gift card to Texas Roadhouse.....

Another cloudy day, I have not heard any loud rumbles but Molly is glued to my leg.

I need to fix some breakfast, my stomach is doing the rumbling. English muffin, topped with leftover blasted tomatoes and a poached egg, plus leftover baked beans. If I had bacon it would be very British.

Skippy is going to vet tomorrow, she has a groeth on her eye lid.
I got 3 pints of blueberries for $5 and I see a crumble in our future.
Tiedye onsies made me think of this pic of Olivia....she was so serious. LOL
    Have a great day.

Good morning Tina:) We have been talking about just that..all work and no play..we haven't been on a vacation in years..it's just so hard to get away these days..especially with cats. We would have to take Tippi to Paradise Cat Resort for sure and the other 2 would stay at home..Bribie & Lennon get along well and are strictly inside , where Tippi HAS to go out part of the day, not to mention she & Bribie don't get along...so we've been racking our brains as to who to get to check in on Bribie and Lennon if we did happen to take a few days and take a trip somewhere besides HERE! I know my cats are spoiled, and we do love them..they are our kids:) So, we will get away, more than likely later this year when things slow down a bit work wise:) I've been checking out cottages by the ocean..near Bandon Oregon...We've never been to the Oregon Coast and I hear it's beautiful! Another option is of course the California Coast..somewhere besides Ft. Bragg, we've been there a million times and want to go somewhere "different" Soooo, we'll figure it all out..because we sure need to get away!
Hope all goes well tomorrow at the Vet's..poor Skippy..I'm sure Skippy will be good as new after visiting her doctor:)

I'm thinking grilled pork chops & chicken along with fried okra (I hardly ever fry anything, but Mom used to make fried okra when we were younger and it's totally delicious..that is the ONLY way I'll eat the stuff!) and a salad to go with:)

    Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Salutations back at 'ya Tina! :) Good luck with all the house work. I could totally go Tex Mex for dinner tonight! Yum! We had MAJOR thunder and lightening last night. I honestly don't ever remember hearing it so BIG and close before. Was a tad un-nerving. We're supposed to get more today. Good luck to Skippy at the vet tomorrow. Poor thing has had a lot to deal with lately eh! Great price on the blueberries! Awwwww at Liv in her tye dye! :) Too cute! What's in the pan in the second picture? How was your cod last night? I'd love some fresh peaches!
Hey Marie! Excellent to see you! That's a shame that Tippi never became good friends with Bribie. :( A trip to a cottage near the ocean would be heavenly. I guess you wouldn't want to bring the cats along eh? Too much hassle?
LOL @ getting stuck behind Wayne on the back country roads with his baler Karen! I find the farmers very accommodating usually. They try and get over on the shoulder as best they can and sometimes they even give a wave if they can see it is clear for you to pass. It is cyclists that I get grumpy about. We have a ton of them out where we are. Hope the pick up truck is fine. I made this cucumber salad before and really liked it. You can tone down the heat level to whatever you like.
    Korean Spicy Cucumber Salad
You've possibly figured out by now what to do with them anyway. The other recipe I thought looked interesting was:
    Cucumber Punch
You were saying you liked lemon water so??? Have a great time at Bass Pro today! :)
Yes Michelle, Jim will eat octopus and squid and mussels, clams, etc. He's quite an adventurous eater really and there aren't too many things he won't eat. (Except desserts. Sigh.) :) Sounds like you had a great time yesterday.Did Michael end up going to the Water Park close by you last night? I find the heat zaps my enthusiasm and energy level as well. :)
Took some chicken thighs out of the freezer to thaw. Bought some Nando's Peri-peri rub and sauce recently so will doctor the thighs up with that and grill them. I still have a ton of that Quinoa salad left and Jim's been requesting a Beet salad.
SOOOO humid here at the moment the floor feels damp!

Hi! I vote on going to Texas Roadhouse Tina, I LOVE that place, I swear they have the best prime rib. Good deal on the blueberries!

I sure do hope you get a little vacation at some point Marie, you deserve it! I'm with you on fried okra, it's awesome!

I wouldn't mind trying octopus one day Janet! I do love clams, mussels and squid (not the tentacle parts though, Michael eats all those for me :) Yum on the peri peri seasoned thighs!

Michael did take the kids to the water park, he was so tired by the time he got home he passed out. I had to wake him up to brush his teeth. I realized about 30 minutes before he got home that I had left the shrimp and fish in the back of the car, it had been in there about 5 or 6 hours! LUCKILY they put everything on plenty of ice and there was still a layer of ice on everything even after that long being in the HOT car!

Just hanging out for the day being lazy, and later this evening we are going to my Uncle's house for a fish fry and to see some family we haven't seen in a while. Have a great day everyone!!

Hi Janet! OMG on taking all THREE cats with us ! We did take Bribie when she was our only cat to Ft Bragg..she was a trooper..just laid back and enjoyed the ride..but Lennon & Tippi? They howl like crazy whenever they go for a ride! We'd be stark raging mad if we had to take them with us for 4-6 hours! hahaha I love my babies dearly and I know this sounds mean & selfish, but I could use a day or 2 catless if you know what I mean! Then I's probably miss them like crazy..just call me the Crazy Cat Lady!
YUM on the Quinoa salad! Is it a recipe of yours? Let me know:)

Making brekkie for Rick and a good friend he grew up with..turkey sausages, poached eggs, fresh tomatoes with cottage cheese and cantaloupe..then they are going "shooting" at a range up here somewhere...ugh...guns..but that's kindof a given where we live, redneck country and all..how the hell did I end up here..I could see myself living in San Fran, not Magalia. Oy Vey (channeling Lori!)

I actually took a wee nibble of the octopus yesterday Michelle. The flavour was fine. They'd put a nice baste on it but the texture was rubbery and I pulled a face. :) LOL @ having to wake Michael up to brush his teeth! Thank goodness for the ice. That would have been a terrible waste of lovely shrimp and fish! Have fun at your Uncle's Fish Fry. Sounds like a hoot!
Ya, I figured it'd be a pain to bring the cats Marie. Cats don't usually like cars I don't think. :) Your breakfast sounds wonderful. I haven't had cantaloupe in a long time!

SP Michelle:) A fish fry sounds great! It's always good to be lazy every once in a while!

Janet..yes, most cats are not good travelers:) I miss having dogs especially for that reason..I LOVED taking my dogs for a ride in my Jeep when I was younger..one day when we have a larger place with a few acres, we'll most certainly be adding a few puppies to our family:) I can't wait:) Then we will NEVER be able to take a vacation! LOL

Middle picture is the apple blueberry crumble from Stillwater Tavern. I'm freezing two pints of the blueberries and might make Karen's easy dump crumble with the last pint.

Poor Michael. Glad you saved the fish/shrimp, Michelle. A fish fry is fun. Does someone make hush puppies? (I love those fried balls of cornmeal). Michelle, I have to try your creamy caper pork chops. Thank goodness the featured recipe pulled it up.

Marie, I had one cat who traveled well. Punkin went from FL to AZ to WA and back sitting on the head rest watching Poppop drive. Never a peep or accident. Too bad you don't have an Olivia close. She is a great conscientious pet sitter.

The baked cod with lemon caper was very good. I put the cherry tomatoes on the sheet tray and cooked it all at the same time. The tzatziki was good but it really needed a day to meld. Spinach with feta crumbles, simple and good.

Skippy is 14 years old. She is still chipper some days and less so others. She was playing jump from chair to chair to avoid the floor and Lola. It was funny.

Janet, I'm with Jim on all the mollusks and shell fish. I like them all. Aye yi yi on having to turn on the air. Cool off honey. I love piri piri. I made Emeril's recipe once (piri piri sauce from scratch) and decided buying some sauces is better and a time saver.

Mollycita is in the dog house. When we drove to get Olivia's Jeep, Molly got in the linen closet and pulled out the toilet paper and unrolled/chewed two rolls, got into the Dove soap bars and was chewing on a bar when Olivia came in. She also dragged out a box of laxatives. Thank goodness she didn't start chewing those. Charlie was in a crate, Lola was in a crate. We THOUGHT Molly would behave. Fat chance there.

Well I hear the chime of the dryer. I need to check on the quilt. Ugh, still have to unload the dishwasher. Floor is still wet though. It will have to wait.

Now I need apple blueberry crumble! :(
That's a good idea for Marie re: a pet sitter Tina. We used to hire one on occasion when we had our two cats. She was a lovely lady and she still has her business. She'd come over once a day and feed and chat to the cats. Very reasonable priced too. OH NO @ Molly. Goodness. :(
Michelle, I just finished mixing up that home made Italian dressing mix you did recently from Allrecipes. So easy! I'm very excited to make it into salad dressing next week.

Hi Janet - Marie - Michelle - Tina.

Marie, the 2 compatible cats should be fine for a few days, with the other one boarded. Have a nice trip. I have left mine for 5 days with extra litter boxes, enough food and water for fifteen cats, and always come back to filled water and food dishes. If I lived closer I would offer to watch them for you.

Wayne's friend offered to keep the two kittens while we are in Texas. Mel can go in with Mary., they are both calm. A.C. can jolly well be by himself - he has shown aggressive tendencies, sort of goes from play to "someone flipped the switch" nasty bad dude in a heartbeat.

It is raining - a storm went thru tonight, no big deal. Messing up the baling plans Monday.

We went to Bass Pro and had a great time. They had mini sandwiches / snacks so really did not need to get any thing for supper. Stopped by Dress Barn and got three blouses and a pair of nice, "casual dress" pants. I needed some for the trip in August. Home before 11 and after the storm. I have a couple of pix to download but not until I can put them on my computer. Tomorrow is exercise class, then fire dept meeting in the evening. AARGH!

It must be misbehaving day for pets. When we got home, the kittens had located the hidden toilet paper roll and CHEWED it up big time. The big cats had killed a small lizard and it was belly up on the floor. Now I have to find a new t.p. location easily found by "users of the facilities" but out of sight of bad little kitties.
