Sunday's decorations....

    Good Morning Everyone!

Oh dear at Fritz chewing on so many things Karen. Ai yi yi. Jim would have a fit. Glad to hear Wayne was feeling well enough to clear branches to get the RV in. I don't think I could down Cider vinegar straight either, 2 tsp. or not. :( Hope he's feeling even better today.

Ugh on losing posts yesterday Shona. SO frustrating! Fun that Colter stayed over at his friend's. That pizza you had sounded awesome. I've never ever heard of an ouzo-tomato sauce before but I'd certainly like to try it.

    Joce, is Den any better?

Bren, did you have any luck finding new light fixtures?

Sorry to hear your tournament got cancelled Michelle! :( Loved the photos on your FB page of Caiden at Torchy Tacos. :) Tickled you made my Chicken tetrazzini last night and glad you liked it. Hope Bri had fun at her sleepover.

Jim and I had a really nice time at the fair yesterday. We just wandered around and people watched and checked out the farm animals and the horse judging, etc. We grabbed hot dogs and fries for lunch. The weather was perfect. Stopped off at an orchard/farm stand on the way home and bought some pretty gourds to decorate with as well as some really nice looking tomatoes and potatoes. I just love this time of year.

Going to decorate the house for Fall today I think and Jim's going to finish rust-proofing the car. If I'm super motivated I may start chopping up some wood for kindling.

Haven't decided on what to make for dinner yet.

Wishing everyone a most lovely Sunday.

Hi Janet, sounds like you had a lovely time at the fair! I saw some pretty neat pumpkins and gourds at the store the other day, but way too much money at Sobey's! I'll have to check out the Farmer's market or the Farm down the road for that when we get some pumpkins soon. Enjoy your decorating and I hope your motivation last's all day! :)

Not much going on as of yet, I'm the only one awake at the moment. Enjoying the quiet and my coffee as I watch the golden leaves blow off the trees! I guess we should get those raked up today. I also need to give the house a thorough cleaning and do some laundry. A typical Sunday around here ;) I bought a ham for dinner, so I might make some scalloped potatoes if I'm feeling ambitious later, lol...we'll see.

Marie? Hope all is well! I wanted to wish you a very Happy Birthday!!!! I don't want to say the age but I know it's a milestone this year, I hope you were able to celebrate! :)

    Good morning!
Den is feeling much better, Janet. Thanks for asking. I loved all your pics at the Fair on FB and you had perfect weather for it. I am quite sure you will figure out something really good for dinner. Have fun decorating today.
I would be having a fit if our dog (if we had one) ever chewed all those things, Karen. No way I could take cider vinegar straight either. I bet you could dilute it and maybe add some honey or something else to it.
I would have loved to try that pizza, Shona. We don't have a good pizza place here sadly and there are dozens of places that make them in this small town. I usually end up making my own.
We are doing laundry today and for dinner, we are having pot roast with all the fixins.
    Wishing everyone a great Sunday!

Good Morning Shona! Enjoy that quiet time before everyone else rouses. :) The price sure does differ on pumpkins and gourds from one place to the next so it's wise indeed to look around. I saw some gourds yesterday that looked like white spaceships but they were for display only. Boo. :) I have just trucked up and down the stairs to the basement 7 times to bring up all my fall decorations. Can you tell I'm a tad obsessed? :) Good luck with all your chores. Sounds like a busy day. A lovely ham dinner sounds wonderful at the end. I do like scalloped potatoes for sure but I also like ham gravy with mashed. FA told me that Marie's birthday was on the 22nd. She turned 60. I sent her a quick note. She said they were having Chinese takeout for dinner and that Rick had got her flowers and ordered a cake and she'd received more presents from her Mom and sister as well.

Oh yeah, the pizza. They are in the middle of the city so Pete picked it up after he got some parts at the auto store. We only go a couple times a year. They have the best sauce, similar to what you'd get at a Greek Restaurant on moussaka or pastitsio. It has that hint of anise flavor that's in ouzo, but they also put in a hint of cinnamon and/or allspice in the sauce. Oh so good!! I love Italian thin crust pizza, but it's nice having a deep dish pizza once in a while :)

Your pot roast sounds good Joce! Glad Den is feeling better! Have a great day :)

Oh thanks for letting me know Janet, I was just going to message her too.
I thought it was her 50th this year? My memory hasn't been the greatest lately!
Sounds like she had a very nice birthday :)
    Wow, 7 trips, lol,....just a tad obbessed, lol ;)

Oops! I just looked at my birthday dates in ODD and Marie's birthday was indeed on the 22nd of September. Happy Belated Birthday, Marie! Glad you touched base with her, Janet. I have never had or made ham gravy. I usually do my ham with a mustard and brown sugar glaze and I also put cloves all over it as well. Sometimes I put pineapples on it too!

My MIL always made a cooked mustard sauce with mustard powder, vinegar, egg and touch of sugar. I sometimes do that for Pete but the kids don't like it. I might do a maple-mustard sauce of some sort?
I've never had a ham gravy before either, will have to look that up! :)

How's Tina doing? I've been avoiding Facebook so I haven't checked in.

Argh...killin' me again with your Sunday pot roast Joce. Must do that soon! So glad to hear Den is feeling better. Good luck with the laundry. My Mom used to make ham gravy so that's where I got it from. It's super good. I do the mustard brown sugar glaze but not the pineapple.

Your Mom's mustard sauce sounds good Shona. Maple Mustard sounds nice too! You just make ham gravy the same as any other. Get some margarine and flour cooked down (I generally do 2-3 heaping tbsp. of each but it depends on how much you're making), then add in any ham broth and drippings from the cooked ham. Sometimes I add 1/2 cup of water to the ham while it's cooking if it doesn't look like there's going to be much broth.
Tina popped back on to FB last week after being away for about a month. Haven't actually chatted with her but she's posting a fair amount so I'm guessing she's good. :)

Morning! Wow it’s busy in here today. I loved those pics of Caiden too Janet, he is so silly :) Love all the pics you took at the fair, sounds and looks like you had a really nice time!

Wow, lucky you Shona, I wish my kiddos would sleep in that late sometimes!! Bri could, but Caiden is always up EARLY no matter what. Yum on ham and potatoes :)

Glad to hear Den is feeling better Joce. Pot roast sounds great!!

Happy belated birthday Marie, I’ll send her a message, I sure do miss her!

Kind of a slow morning here today, Bri is still at her friends and Caiden is playing on his tablet, so it’s pretty quiet. Going to make a salad for lunch with some leftover chicken, kalamata olives, artichokes, peppers, onions, tomatoes and this feta that a made a few weeks ago that is AMAZING!!

I think we are going to do breakfast for dinner, I have some blueberry breakfast sausage that I want to make into a quiche for Michael and I and will make the kids some pancakes or something. Hope everyone has a great day!!

Decided on Thai Chicken skewers for dinner. I've made it before but guess I never posted it. It involves galangal, lime leaves and lemon grass I think. Hoping I have some dumplings in the freezer to go on the side. Soup was yummy and hit the spot. Decorating is almost done.
