    http://www.howtocookgoodfood.co.uk/2015/05/korean-style-pancakes-with-spicy-fried-beansprouts/j
jim shovelled off the pond again yesterday but it's only 3C/26F so i don't know how good the ice will be.
so sorry you had a stressful week bren. hope you can relax today and take a breather. the whole issue of aging parents and nursing homes is fraught with emotion and not an easy thing to deal with. loved that dumpling soup of keni's you made yesterday. how sweet of you to bring some to your neighbour. lucky you on getting crab!!! never apologize for being a debbie downer. that's a term we have used here on o.d.d. fairly extensively over the years! :) everyone has their highs and lows and if it can make a person feel the least bit better by getting it off their chest then all the better! sending you good vibes for a good day today with no headaches!
sounds like you had a lovely day michelle as did bri.
what's on everyone's agendas for today?

Hi Janet! Your menu sounds great!! I guess they are vegetarians who eat eggs, that's good! My SIL is vegetarian but luckily she eats eggs and cheese, and doesn't care if I use chicken stock etc. Makes it so much easier ;) Enjoy your company :)

Bren, I echo Janet's sentiments exactly!! We all have our days, and if coming here to "vent" or complain or whatever helps, then please do. You never know who else might be going through similar things as well. Take care and hope the headaches go away soon!

I just made ham and cheese omelets for breakfast, then I have a busy day ahead. I started making this for Keni's cook day Classic Chicken And Dumplings. I got the broth made and the chicken and veggies cooked last night. Then today I'll skim the fat off the broth, reheat everything and make the dumplings. Never made chicken and dumplings before ( or ever ate it either) so I'm looking forward to finally trying it!
The Pediatrician is sending Sophia for more testing. We'll see a third ENT, Infectious diseases, Respirologist and Physical therapy. Her right ear is filled with fluid, so she might need tubes again. And her sinuses are very red and swollen, so maybe this new ENT can help open her nasal passages too. She upped her nasonex dose and she has to stay on an antihistamine, everyday. Hopefully this helps until we can see the ENT. Even though her allergies came back negative (tested twice over the years) the only thing I can think of is maybe shes sensitive to our huskyx. :( I don't want to get rid of her, we've had her for almost 4 years now. I need to be more proactive and clean up the dog hair more regularly!
Pete's boss bought him a huge Chinese dinner feast for lunch on Friday, and got him a black forest cake. So Pete came home with tons of leftovers, even more than we'd buy for ourselves if we ordered. So we ate that yesterday and had some cake. I'll make him a different dessert tonight. His mom use to make him "Passion in a pan", as she called it, LOL...So I think I'll make that today for his b-day Sex In A Pan

Have a great day everyone :)

Good afternoon!! Janet, those Korean pancakes look SO GOOD! I pinned them :) I also bookmarked your quiche! Enjoy your lunch :)

Never had chicken and dumplings Shona?! I just know you'll love them :) I hope this new ENT can help out Sophia, poor little girl!! It could be the dog hair. We got Caiden allergy tested a while back and he came back as having an allergy to animals. Every time he goes to my Mom's house he get's sick, they have a cat that sheds like a maniac. I tell my Mom every time to please put the cat outside when he's over there, but every time I come to pick them up the dang cat is sprawled out on the couch. I'm going to have to threaten him not going over there any more or something, I don't know what else to do! Lol, I like how your MIL changed the name to “Passion”! Happy Birthday to Pete!!

Everyone is just doing their own thing today...being lazy lol. I need to go to the store and buy stuff for Caiden's 100th day of school shirt. I don't know why I hate making it but I do. Bri had to do it when she was in his school too. On the 100th day of school (which is Thursday) and they want the kids to wear a shirt with 100 things on it that we make at home. UGH! Why do I hate it so much lol? For Briauna, one year we did buttons, another year we did stickers and I can't remember the other. It's such a PIA!!

For lunch Michael made this crazy sandwich, it was peanut butter, jelly, pretzels and banana chips on the inside, then he dipped the whole sandwich in an egg wash and then coated in crushed Honey Bunches of Oats cereal and pan fried it in butter. What a sandwich lol! I tried a bite and it was good, but I don't think I could eat a whole one (Ahem, 3000 calories about?) and plus I'm not a peanut butter fan.

Pulled out some chicken and going rub Penzey's BBQ 3000 seasoning on it and grill and will probably make up some sort of fruit salsa to serve with it involving mango. Not sure what the sides will be yet, need to go and dig through the fridge and see what we have!! Hope everyone is having a great day!!

    Hi all
Finally I am back at the office so have reasonable internet and a computer that works, not just my phone which never really lets me get on here properly. I can do facebook and email with it and not much more.
Yum on the quiche and the quinoa salad Janet. Soaking beans is something I always forget to do ahead and then I end up waiting a day too. We have beans soaking for a sausage, bean and spinach skillet for tonight. Last night, when we were supposed to have it but didn't have the beans soaked, we ate red lentil and spinach curry.
Allergies to pets in the house are so difficult when you have furry family members to consider. Sean has horrible allergies to cat hair and dander and can't even go into my parents' apartment because of the concentration in a small space. We went without a cat for a couple of years and then the mice got so bad he even suggested getting a cat. We got an air cleaner that we ran in the living room and it worked wonders - no more nosebleeds, blocked sinuses, headaches, red eyes and everything. It was expensive but totally worth the investment for him.
The peanut butter sandwich creation sounds delicious to me. It has all the flavours in one place - Yum!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

Hi Janet. I'm sure your lunch will be appreciated. Sounds yummy! I don't know much about vegetarian lifestyle....if she eats eggs or cheese it is much easier to entertain her than vegan or the strictly plant-eating person.

Shona, good luck with the allergy tests. When our daughter was little, she was tested and found to be allergic to cats, dogs, most critters, etc. She was very attached to our dog and cat, and they advised us to get rid of them, take away stuffed animals, etc. We didn't. She was on allergy / sinus meds off and on for ages, but still had her beloved pets. However, some cats trigger her allergies and some don't. I have heard that it is the dander, not the fur, that triggers allergies. Meanwhile, good luck with the dog hair removal plans. I hope you can keep the pooch and find a way to help Sophia's allergies.

Michelle, we have four indoor cats and they are always on the furniture. If we lived in town, we would never allow them outside because of the dangers they face. If this is the case with your mom, would it help to change your request to have the cat put in another room instead of outside? If we know someone has a cat allergy, we try to do that and to vacuum the floor and furniture before they come. Allergies can be rough. Good luck in finding a way to deal with Caiden's. A couple stopped by (I have since forgotten the reason) with a boy who was allergic to horses and was looking at a home in the country but away from horses. He reacted to our horses even though they were no where close. Hope they decided on moving to town because his allergies were life threatening, or so they said. I am not sure about Michael's sandwich -- ha ha.
Wow on the 100 day shirt! No idea what to add.....Good luck....I am sure you will come up with something great.

Wayne is staying over tonight so I am sitting here for a bit with Mel and Trouble on my lap. Stopped by Church's Chicken, as usual. My neighbor was trimming branches so I had to stop until she could move. They traded trucks and he is overly concerned a branch might scrape it. We trimmed branches in the late summer but they grew back really fast.

Wayne just texted. Best answer. See you later.

Good info on the air cleaner. I won't want to get rid of my pets so we would go that road if we needed to.

Janet, love what you made for your lunch guests:) Sounds delicious:)

Shona, hope the tests help Sophia:( Poor darling! You'll adore chicken and dumplings!

Michelle, LOL on Michael's sandwich creation..man oh man, he sounds just like Rick..some of the things he comes up with are scary..I really have a moment when I'm out and about and he's home before me when he calls and says dinner is all handled...always a surprise and usually something I have never heard of..he's a big fan of tossing everything he can get his hands on all together..calls it goulash..and, surprisingly, it's usually pretty darn good..I love that man..never a dull moment:)

Hi Karen:) Enjoy your evening with your little rascals:) You have the cutest cats:)

    Hi MichelleB:)

Change in the weather, maybe? We have a cold front moving in, then Tuesday the temp will really drop for a few days. As good a reason as any!

The blond raccoon returned and was chowing down on cat food in the window. A.C. the not-so-brilliant cat tried to go through the glass to get at him. Good grief, cat! Raccoons are not for fighting.
