    Morning all!

Judy I hope you all liked the chicken casserole! We love it.

Donna hope your family dinner was awesome! I know it was.

Happy happy holiday fun to everyone.

Did a day of shopping yesterday. Hips and knees are payving for it today...oh well...mountain of laundry, housework to do since the gang comes Tuesday, baking, and wrapping...hate to have a Christmas party with a bare tree! ha ha Anyway...Bryan still out of work with his back. I haven't told him, but based on what exhubby went through, I'd say he will end up having surgery. Bless his heart. He is usually so helpful at times like this to try and help me not have such a hard time with the arthritis, but he's not able this year. I'm not so sure I am either, but tis the season. LOL No clue yet about supper. Gonna make some cookies between loads of laundry this morning. Firts it's gonna be the cream cheese Christmas cookies. willl post to group.

It's a marathon day round here. Let the games begin!

Lori, I hope you and Bryan feel better soon.

Never got around to cooking up those rib eyes last night so that's what's for supper tonight....Had a late lunch and neither one of us was in the mood for a big supper.

    Have a great day, all!!!

I'm thinking cookies, too. Just because I haven't done anything else.....I've got flour, sugar, shortening, vanilla, orange rind........and a bottle of molasses that won't open.

Making crock pot potato soup....on a day we are going to reach record highs in the 80's. Yeah, I planned that one well. Had to use the potatoes before they went south.

Made another chicken/apple cheddar cheese bread pudding...in the oven now, so when Mr.Sleepyhead raises his head, there will be a warm breakfast ready.

I think I'll try to vaccuum the house. Lock the dogs outside and get 'er done. Oliver likes to attack the machine and it makes a long job even tougher....If I can keep him away, I might get the rooms done faster.

Good luck Lori, I know it is a huge amount of pressure to meet everyeone's expectations at this time of year.....please be good to yourself and give yourself permission to rest. Bless Bryan and I hope he gets some relief soon for his back pain.

It's a stay in your slippers Sunday for me. Went out and bought a tomato yesterday, so I can have a salad if I get hungry. Have had the covers thrown back for four hours now and sweating pretty good and the house is at 65 degrees. It's some type of low level cold or creeping crud or something that I keep knocking back with Zicam for the past couple of weeks. Maybe it's getting ready to break since I'm now sweating.

Perfect time to watch football all day and keep my pillows company.

Still have some banana and bread puddings left. Had to take some Alka-Seltzer yesterday. I ate too much of the puddings.

I've never been one to bake lots of cookies for Christmas but that list sounds heavenly, Lori...I'm baking 4 cheesecakes today for gifts and that's about it for me this year!!

Tina, I have potato soup on the list for this week too....Is your crockpot recipe posted?

Man alive! Potatoes that go south are worse than a stinking corpse. I hate grabbing up a potato just to have my fingers go half way through it.

Not posted....just made up as I went along.
I had two leeks, one onion, 8 or 9 big russets peeled and cubed, 1 qt. of chicken stock, 1/3 cup of white vermouth, some fresh thyme, some sad carrots, that I peeled and diced and once it is done cooking all day, I'll mash it with the potato masher, but not completely smooth, then I'm adding a pint of of half and half for the last hour. Will garnish with shredded cheddar, diced green onion tops, and bacon crumbles. All leftover garnish tidbits from tacos/and blt's last week. If I had some ham chunks I would have added it to the mix, but the last of the ham went in scalloped potatoes last week too. I have to go shop, but there is so much to do around here. How do we ever fit it all in?????

P7O, hope you feel better. I agree a squishy potato is just as bad as that "one bad apple that spoils the whole bunch." Rest up.

Was looking for something to do with all my left over egg whites from the bread pudding the other day and I fell onto NOTYO's Pumpkin Angel Cake that just might do the trick.

The parties continue today. Last nights company Christmas party at Shingle Creek was very nice but I must say that the buffets they set out were lack luster. One salad table and I swear it looked like they opened those salad's in a bag, nothing special to trim off these salads either just croutons and cheese. Another table was set out as a pasta station. This was my choice, they had a chef making up the pasta so that it was all warm and fresh. It was very good. The other was turkey and ham carving station with cornbread stuffing and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were a big hit with folks going back for seconds of just potatoes. The dessert bar was nice I tried the Yule Log and even Mr. SuchAFuss loved it and he never eats dessert.

This evening we will be going to my brother-in-laws for the traditional trimming of the tree. For as long as we have lived near, all the Dowlings arrive in force to provide elf labor services in getting their Christmas tree decked out. In return the snacks and wine are served up along with the laughter and love of our family.

In theme of the season of sharing, our Thanksgiving turkey will make one more appearance. I have a nice amount of the turkey broth from the carcass and two lovely large breasts and will be making up a Turkey and Rice soup. Not quite sure what else but that's whats for dinner my contribution to this evenings light fare at the tree trimming.

busy day today, probably pizza takeout for hubby and the kids. I have office time from 9-1pm and then I am heading to Macy's to fill in for my friend who pulled out her back. Good news is that it is time and a half. WOOHOO! So I won't be around to cook for anyone. and my cupboard is pretty bare as well, so unless they have cereal, I am pretty sure it will be pizza.

Good Maude, y'all are BUSY! :-)

Hubbs is taking me shopping in PF today. Should be an interesting trip with him, and I'm sure to learn some new, uninvented-as-of-yet cuss words from him due to the crowds. Twenty bucks says he stays in the truck cussing at people who park too closely while I waddle around trying to grab a few things...gah.

I've already got two huge batches of cookies frozen, planning on buckeyes, fudge and white trash snack mix getting put up tomorrow. Hoping for decorated sugar cookies on Tuesday.

Hubbs has his Christmas party at work/retirement party (another officer 35 years) on Thursday---need to have at least 2 cookie trays finished & wrapped by then.

    Happy Sunday to everyone,

Wow! You all are some baking MANIACS! I've never liked to bake cookies much, I consider it a chore. I'd rather cook a five course meal than bake cookies! You are all my heroes!

Fam party went great yesterday from 3 to about 10 when the last of 'em left.We had a great time! Ended up being 14 with 2 babies. (well my 2 yr old great niece and 1 yr old great niece) My turkey turned out really moist and delicious - everyone raved about it. Glad, cuz I was frettin' over it maybe getting too done or not done in time. LOL We also had a really good ham, black-eyed peas (brother's request to Mom) broccoli, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy (or course!) cranberry sauce, yeast rolls (homemade from mom) and apple/pear pie (mom's) pumpkin pie (sis) drinks, wine, coffee (not me-LOL) Best of all, my 2 nieces cleaned up the kitchen - ALL of the dishes, pans, etc.! I think it's the first time ever where I didn't wake up to a big fat mess in the morning! And no hangover either!
Have no clue what's for dinner tonight. That kicked up chicken cass sounds interesting - have to check it out. Hope you all are having a great weekend. Sounds like it....

You were truly blessed to have willing dishwashers in the mix. Whooie...that is a gift all on it's own.

Glad you had such a lovely dinner.

We are sitting here sweating...or as Paula would say, "glistening" and eating our potato soup. It is good, but I'm too dang hot. I suppose I could have chilled it and called it vichyssoise...but Fred would have none ot that sissy food. Oh well, you win some and you lose some.

I got all the beds changed and the floors swept and mopped, but I didn't get a single cookie dough made. Boo hoo. I wonder if I can still muster the energy to put together a batch of sugar cookie dough and freeze it for slice and bake...later?

Didn't make the truffles yet....too hot for them to set, they would just be plops of chocolate poop in this heat.

Yes, Tina, I am blessed with my family - they are wonderful. I can hardly imagine hot weather in Dec! Although it is warmed a bit here - 34 instead of the 16 it's been...
