Sweets for Saturday

Didn't get the fried apple pies made yesterday, so I'm up early getting it done.

Skunk got into close proximity to the house and shook me from my slumber anyhow, and the sinuses clogged up. Making the best of a bad situation, so the pies will be done for today.

I think I cooked enough the past couple of days to rest on my laurels. I will be enjoying that Turkey and Escarole soup today and make up some chicken salad out of the left overs from last nights roast chicken.

I had a dream about Mom's chicken liver recipe. "Those Livers" are the best, why not with all that bacon, onion, mushrooms and wine? Strange to dream about them, huh? Maybe I need the iron or something. Of course now I want them for dinner, but Fred despises chicken livers no matter how good the recipe, so I guess I'll be making the meat loaf. Creamed spinach, glazed carrots and oven roasted potatoes. all his favorites.

I'm so tired today, the coughing has kicked me to the curb. I wanted to work on the porch and get rid of the clutter, but I just don't have any energy.

Go out and make a memory as my momma used to say....bloom where you are planted.

    Everyone's dinners sound delicious!

Making some braised short ribs over this way tonight. Serving on top of a ball of polenta with some bleu cheese stirred in...fresh asparagus and SPAROW's lemony, cheesy, garlicky taters as a big side.

I ended up not cooking anything yesterday. Warmed up spaghetti for the girls and made some french fries with brown gravy and cheese for me. Bad I know. lol
Couldn't help it, was stressing on J's first 'real' (IMO) date with an older man...he's 17! He's a cutie. He's over today to hang out and get to know me and Steve. He seems like a very sweet kid. He was scared to death when he picked J up. You would be too if you were getting the stare down from Steve...

Today is a big pot of beef stew...haven't had that in so long...making a double batch for the extra mouths today.

I would love some chicken livers. I'm the only one here that will eat them.

    HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY WYNNE!!! ♥

Oh Ang...my goodness time does fly. My heart would be fluttering too. It still does everytime Liv leaves on a date. I still worry.

Beef stew sounds so warming and wonderful. My meat loaf is still in the oven. Can I just say, I hate squishing up the meat mixture. Love the result don't like the process.

Hope you had a great b-day lunch, Wynne.

Still craving the chicken livers...going to have to find a restaurant to get a fix. Maybe Po'folks or at the Reef on the beach. Only places I know that serve them anymore.

Ladies,I do remember that feeling with Jeanne. Of course at 32,things are different. She had a very steady guy for a while who came from NY with her and stayed for the weekend. How we try to impress. He wound up being a jerk. Recently went out with a guy she knew in NY and moved back up here. He didn't come in but couldn't help sneak a peek as he gave her a kiss when he picked her up. Ir never changes completely. Glad he seems like a nice kid Ang!!
