Taiwanese Tuesday.....

Good Morning Everyone! Our guests from Taiwan showed up yesterday afternoon at 3 p.m. We were all a bit peckish so stopped off at our favourite Vietnamese Restaurant in Kanata `Phu Yen` and had a little bite. I had shrimp in rice paper rolls with vermicelli and fresh mint and a peanut dipping sauce. Totally hit the spot. Sujie wanted to see the river so we brought her down to Pinhey`s Point for the views. Drove up our lane way by 5. They landed in Vancouver I think and visited Victoria and Abbotsford, B.C. and then went to Toronto and were staying around the North York area. So Ottawa and especially our house nestled in the woods is quite a change from anything they`ve seen on their trip thus far. Sujie is in heaven and can`t get over all the nature. Two fawns scampered across the back lawn last night and she even managed to get video of it on her phone. :)

The Prime Rib took a long time to cook on indirect on the BBQ so we ended up eating dinner quite late but everyone was fine. They loved the entire meal which pleased me. They are still fast asleep now. We got about 6 mm more rain last night which is awesome but it`s going to be another stinking hot day today. I think we`ll do the touring of downtown Ottawa tomorrow when it`s going to be cooler and just bop around the area today, take them down to the river for a swim and a kayak, drive into Kanata and show them the Olive Oil store and maybe out to Pakenham and Almonte, which are charming little towns, so they get a taste of that. I`m having a heck of a lot of fun. :)

I got my chicken in brine yesterday afternoon and I also noticed fresh corn on the cob at the farmer`s stand yesterday, HURRAY, so will grab some of that to have alongside tonight. It should be a very fun day.

It is going to be hot today also. Possible rain but I am not holding my breath.

Cleaned the litter boxes this morning. An "ugh" chore over with.

Allergies are back with a vengeance. Everyone is complaining of sinus congestion and I am taking Claritan. (? sp) for my itchy eyes. It is a bad summer for allergies.

Today will be hot, tomorrow ONLY 88 F, then back to HOT HOT HOT with temps in the 92 F range. I am ready for winter.

Yeesh Karen, I sure do hope you get some rain. Glad chiro appointments helped you and DD. Sorry you are having such a hard time with allergies this year.

Nothing planned for today. This morning a tile guy from the builder is suppose to come over. Again, underneath the lip of the built in shower seat, the grout cracked. I already paid myself to have this fixed and now 6 months later it's all cracked again. The seat is not laid well and I'm hoping they will actually fix it and not grout over it. I'm not holding my breath though. They usually won't be bothered with any repair more than 1 year old even though it's been an ongoing problem. Bearing any weight on the bench makes it move enough to crack the grout. What's the point of having a shower bench if you can't sit on it. I'll keep fighting it.

Going to make this for lunch today. Looks like something I would like and I picked up what I needed to make it at the grocery store yesterday. I like Monte Cristos but never make them because I don't fry anything let alone deep fry at home because of the mess. Poor Mans Monte Cristo

Watched the movie "Table 19" last night. It was really cute!! and we both enjoyed it. I'm never thought much of Anna Kendrick but so far anything I've seen her in I've liked her and the movie. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1412528/

Wow!! Tile guys just left and my shower bench is being fixed correctly. I can't believe it!! He scraped all the grout out and when he did the bench came right up and warped. So … they will be back in a few days with a new piece. The area needs to dry out completely. I guess the bench piece was warping for whatever reason, it's made of Corian, and it was only the grout holding it in and once the grout was removed it just gave even more.

We are picking up the new car this evening which will take a bit of time signing the paperwork and explaining all the new toys on it like the backup camera and the things that are different from the other one we have of the same model. We have decided to get a pizza when we are done so there isn't too much fuss for dinner.

We`ve had a busy day and didn`t get everything in that we wanted to. We brought Sujie and Giorgio to Pakenham and Almonte and Blakenee. Sujie got to see cows, horses, alpacas, sheep and an emu so she was thrilled. Went for a little hike in the woods by waterfalls. Stopped at the fudge shop and an old general store. They got some fudge and maple syrup candy to bring home as souvenirs. In Almonte Sujie got a Cherry explosion ice cream cone and Giorgio went to a food truck and got a Quesadilla. We walked the main street which is very charming and they also stopped in a couple of the shops and bought other souvenirs.

We didn`t get home `til fairly late in the afternoon and then had lunch and didn`t finish `til 4 p.m. Rolling eyes. We wanted to bring them to the beach to swim and kayak in the river this afternoon but they`ve gone for a nap. LOL. We`ll stop at the Olive Oil shop tomorrow.
