Tapas for Thursday.....

  • chuckieb 8 years ago
    Good Morning Everyone!
Busy day ahead! I have a Skype call with Benjamin first thing, then a hair appointment and then this afternoon Jim and I are going to do a Costco run ('m out of bird seed) before we head to the Canadian War Museum to take in a Gladiator Exhibit. :)
For dinner we are going to go to our fave Tapas Restaurant.
    http://www.222lyontapasbar.com/
There's a beet and goat cheese terrine served with crostini that I'm eyeing up, a Mushroom Sevillana (Button, crimini, portobellow and oyster mushrooms, sauteed with garlic, onions and Prosciutto) and Chinata Shrimps (Chorizo, mushrooms, peppers and white wine). Lots of goodies to choose from.
I'm including a couple of pictures of the tomatoes I harvested from our garden yesterday. The big beef tomato weighed in at one pound 9 oz. The biggest I've seen yet!
Wishing everyone a super great Thursday!

Good morning, Janet. You sure have a busy day ahead. I am not familiar with tapas - my Midwest heritage is showing - ha ha! But it does sound good. I'm sure you will enjoy your skyping (? sp.) with Benjamin. Yummy tomatoes! Our two little patio plant tomatoes did not do very well - MO weather was not tomato-friendly this summer.

The red truck is still in the shop. They could not find anything wrong with it - Wayne described the smoking wheels and the smell of hot brakes so they are still at it. We had planned to take it to Silver Dollar City on Saturday with our friends who are visiting. It has about 97,000 miles on it, more or less - just getting broken in - ha ha! We took it to Texas and back, so it was good that it chose after we returned to have a problem.

We baled hay yesterday - 80 lb. bales, big for square bales but not like the gi-normous, huge, need-a-loader-to-transport ones that some people favor. His buddy came over with his GS and they loaded up. I never even walked outside -- ha ha! Wayne had errands all day, then raked and baled the field, so he was exhausted. when the last bale was done around 8 P.M. This was a second cutting. We have another field, bigger, that could use a second cutting, but rain is forecast so that will have to wait.

See you later. The sun room is now back in order and I am determined it will stay that way!

Hi, Great sounding tapas. Like visiting exhibions of byegone day armies --- gladiators is appealing
Great looking tasty tomatoes -- jealous now -- but too lazy to grow them out here -- stick with my array of fresh herbs for cooking
Not to be out done -- yesterday --small local bar in back Street away from touristy bits
4 Tapas between us with bread and a small beer each --- 10 euros plus tip =-- about $7 - 5o to $8.
Brie Cheese with Roasted Garlic-Paprika Filling
Pimientos Rojos con Anchoas - Red Peppers with Anchovies
Calamares a la Romana - Fried Squid
    Patatas Bravas with sauce .
    Have a great day cheers

Hi Tina! So glad you checked in! :) We all get like that at times so I understand about not feeling "social". I hope you feel better and put on a happy face soon! ((hugs))
Beautiful tomatoes Janet! Wow, 1 pound 9oz, that's a big tomato!! My MIL brought some down that she grew, little ones and colorful ones etc..I made greek salad and the rest was salsa and bruschetta. :)
I envy your Tapas Don! 10 euros is close to $15 Canadian dollars here. That's still a great price for two beer and Tapas, wow! :)
I hope your red truck is fixed soon, for your trip Karen. Wow on all the hay! I only see those ginormous round bales here, probably 8 feet tall or more! I guess you need those loaders just to pick them up, the small squares sound a lot more manageable!
We still have all the smoke and smog from the Washington State fires. The moon and sun have been a glowing red for 4 days, seems like the apocalypse! I have had the doors and windows closed the whole time, I hope we can open them up soon. Rain is in the forecast, maybe that will help. I have NO idea whats for dinner, a shopping trip is in order! Pete went back to work this morning after 2 weeks off, my MIL left this morning too. And now finally after a month of visitors and catering meals to 5 people every night I am done.....then the kids start school on Monday! ackkk...lol ;)
    Have a great day everyone!!!

Hi Karen! Tapas is basically a variety of appetizers or snacks in Spanish Cuisine. Argh on the garage not being able to find anything wrong with the truck! Wayne got a lot of work done yesterday. Bet he slept like a log! That's great you got the sun room as you like it. :)
Excellent prices on the Bar Tapas Don! They sound yummy. I noticed you have your own Patatas Bravas recipe posted.
    Patatas Bravas
I've wanted to make Tapas at home forever and just haven't done it. Now looking at your Avatar pic I have to ask....is that the little Diva you mentioned? :) What's her name?
Oh Tina....feel better GF. We miss you. Sending you a virtual 'mater sandwich with mayo.
Ugh on the smoke and smog Shona. :( Hope your MIL has a good trip home and Pete a good first day back at work.

Morning! Wow you do have a busy day ahead of you, have fun :) That Tapas restaurant sounds amazing! The chinata shrimp and the beef filled piquillo peppers sound so good! OMG, your tomatoes are beautiful! So heirloom looking!

Huh that is weird that they can't find anything wrong with you truck Karen. Sounds like Wayne had a long hard day yesterday, bet he slept good!

Your Tapas sound amazing that you had yesterday Don! Lol I was thinking the “Little Diva” you mentioned was a girlfriend or something :P Now it makes more sense haha!

Hi Tina :) I really hope you start to feel better, we are all here for you...xoxo.

Wow on it still being smoky around you Shona! That's crazy! I bet your secretly glad that your house has a few less people in it :) I would be!

This morning on the way to drop Caiden off at school I told him if he could lead me to his class all by himself he could ride the bus tomorrow. He did, so I guess that settles it, he's riding the bus tomorrow. Sob.....I can't believe how fast they can start being independent! At least he still needs me to help him tie his shoes and gel his hair up in the morning I guess lol. I may get out and wash the car, but maybe not....I haven't decided haha! Dinner tonight will be this
Stuffed Chicken Breast along with (close your eyes Janet) brussel sprouts and a salad. Wishing everyone a great day!!

I love Tapas and have been there for them. Every time I see that house it still reminds me of my teenage years as I know the Lyons who lived there and remember the inside of the house before it became a restaurant. Drooling on the menu at the moment. Wow what a big tomato! You would only need one slice for sure on a sandwich!

Glad you got most of the hay done before the rain come, Karen. I am sure you would love Tapas they are sort of the new Canape.

Excellent price for Tapas Don. Even in Canadian funds it is a deal!

Tina, Think positive and try and bring your spirits up dear. We all have downer days. When do you start driving Alison to her appointment? Sending another virtual tomato sammie with mayo to you as well.

Shona, I hope the rain does come and help put out some of the fires it has been an awful summer for them. I know you are allergic to the smoke and it is very smart of you to stay inside. Enjoy your no company time and getting back to normal at home. You probably went it was nice... but Phew...glad that is over with! Has Pete taken his test for his ticket yet? I keep forgetting to ask you and how is Jersey doing?

I am still in a quandary as to what to make for dinner? I know Den would love spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread but my tummy can't take that yet. We may just have sausages and mashed potatoes with corn of the cob and applesauce on the side? Still trying to think of something else more creative I can have though?

    Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Who's that Don? I think I mentioned I was a natural blonde, but no photo of me, lol..You must be looking at Michelle..... Are you drinking too many Cerveza's?? Lol, go to bed! Cheers!! :)

He's harmless ladies!! ;) Don loves his blonde jokes by the way, be warned, lol!

I'm with ya on what to do for dinner Joce, but you're already way more creative then me! Still no dinner, no shopping trip, I'll probably put together a simple pasta and sauce or it's take-out!
Jersey is doing great from the dog bite, and both dogs have fully recovered from the kennel cough (thank goodness since the vet bills are killing us!)
And yes, it's sooooo nice to have a quiet house, I stayed in my PJ's all day! lol ;)

Awww, Caiden reminds me of how Sophie was last year, so cute! Way to go buddy!

    Hi everyone!
We had chicken burgers with mashed potatoes and leftover green beans. I just love the Stonewall Kitchen's farmhouse relish. I could put that on anything.

Hi. We are having pork chops and ??? tonight (maybe potato salad). Just finished mowing the yard, except for the back with all the death traps / er -- wires - NOT buried by DISH. Sigh! Wayne does that part. I am tired. Taking a short break before I get going. The bed arrived and is so-o-o soft and it is nice to raise the head and/or foot, has a massage and the "wave" so I think it will be a good night sleep!
