Tasty Tuesday!

  • chuckieb 9 years ago
Good morning Everybody! Saw these cutesy Christmas sandwiches on the Foodbeast site this morning. Who thinks of these things? So fun! :)
Freezing rain is forecast for this morning. I have a Hair cut appointment at 10 and I'd also like to bring some baking over to a friend who's not far away. Crossing my fingers the roads won't get too bad.
Tina, how's the hand this morning?
I would LOVE to wander through a Kriskindlemarket Karen. So awesome. And I'd love to travel to Germany one day too.
Not sure what to make for dinner yet. Am craving Mexican. :)
Looking forward to a laid back day. Reading and a fire jump to mind. :)
    Wishing everyone a Tasty Tuesday!

Love the sandwiches!! too cute. Reading and a cozy fire sounds great. hmmm, a Mexican craving Janet. Taco or enchilada? Tamale bites? Stuffed Mexican shells?

Since I got my antibiotic the swelling has gone down. It still hurts like the dickens. The brace is cumbersome and I kept my arm elevated on pillows and I think that helped.

I don't know about dinner either.
I have a doctor's appt. and Fred will have to drive. Skippy will come home later.

Morning!! Those sandwiches are too cool!! What details! Ugh, good luck in your icy weather Janet, stay safe!! Mexican is a good choice :)

Having Christmas at my Dad's on Wednesday night and I have volunteered to bring cookies. Decided I am making Gingerbread Men. Not sure if I am going to make them today or tomorrow. Guess we will see how the day goes :) I need to go pick up a ton of batteries. Already the battery operated toys are starting to flow in and we are short! It is normal for toys to have 6 batteries or more these days, then only last a few weeks. Guess I'll go to Sam's and get some economy packs lol! Have no clue about dinner. Maybe chicken something. Have a great day everyone!!

SP Tina!! Whenever you said tamale bites, these came to mind. Haven't made them but have had them saved forever and they look delicious! Little Tamale Bites Oh Yeah So glad to hear your antibiotic is working! Do you have any stronger pain meds yet?

Janet, I am going to halve that gingerbread recipe, no way I would need 6 dozen lol! Think it would work out okay?

Just scurrying around and will be back but yes Michelle, you could totally halve that recipe. It really does make a ton. :)

Good morning ladies:) Merry Christmas Eve..Eve:)

Janet, stay safe on those icy roads! Cute sammies for sure:)

Tina, good that the swelling has gone down, hoping the pain goes away soon as well..take care sweetie:)

Michelle, The Gingerbread cookie recipe of Janet's looks super good! I want to make it but there's no way I will be able to do it before Christmas:)

I'm going to help Rick this morning on a job, he has to replace the bottom astragal (weatherseal) on a banged up GD..first he has to straighten the bottom of the door out, then he needs a second pair of hands to help attach the w/s..I need to go pick up some stuff at the grocery store after that, then he has to make 2 more loaves of Ricks Panettone Bread Machine and I need to make a couple of batches of Southern Peanut Brittle as well....

    Dinner will be decided later!

Have a wonderful day everyone..thinking of you Jocexoxox

Aww... what cute sammies, Janet. I like the Reindeer one best:) No help here on anything Mexican. Den would go, YUK!

Glad the swelling has gone down, Tina and I hope elevating your arm helps as well. Take good care and please try stay out of the way when the dogs start a ruckus. Maybe the cold water trick might work as suggested by Karen?

Michelle, Good luck making the Gingerbread Men. I like the way your family splits Christmas up so well, so it doesn't interfere with everyone's plans. Great idea picking up lots of extra batteries. We do that as well even though we don't have a lot of toys but, the fireplace has a remote control which uses up four, the fire alarms are 9 volt I believe, and we have all sorts of little things that need batteries and it is always handy to have spares.

Marie, Merry Christmas Eve Eve:) I have to admit it doesn't feel like Christmas around here at all:( I have to take it very easy. Rick is a real sweetie making all those Ricks Panettone Bread Machine and you making extra batches of Southern Peanut Brittle Thanks so much to you and Michelle for keeping up the Down Memory Lane IMI for me:) You guys are real gems:)

My chest feels weird and the pain is hard to describe. They cut my ribs and sternum open to get at my heart to fix it with veins or arteries from my legs. It certainly is a mess to see! I tire very easily and am loaded up with drugs which makes me feel wonky. They say I should be go to go in about 6 or 8 weeks. That seems like a very long time to me at the moment:( Den picked up a small turkey the other day and it might me around 10 lbs? Which should be perfect for us. Chris said he would drop by on Christmas Eve to pick up all their gifts, and he is also, (being the big wangler he is) hopefully will be picking up a new truck for Angie on Christmas Eve.. He is so good at making deals and always being ready to walk away if the deal isn't just right. The Dealership has e-mailed him several times, so I have a feeling they might bit at his offer. I hope so for his sake. I can't do things for very long 15 minutes tops:( I was thinking I might printed out my Mom's Pecan Puffs recipe and then measure out all the ingredients in bags with bows and maybe my GD's would enjoy baking them, while they are off on holidays? I don't think I have the energy to make them unless, Den helps me? I better go have a bit of lunch and my pills and then go lie down.
    Wishing everyone a good day:)

We're back. I'm starving! Gotta rustle something up for lunch! My hair is all shorn and feels good and my friend and her husband were very pleased with all the Christmas baking and we had a lovely visit, and now it's time to snuggle in and relax!
Are you taking pain meds in addition to the antibiotics Tina? CRAFT. Hope your Dr's appointment goes well.
We don't even have kids in the house anymore Michelle and I always make sure I've got a bulk pack of AA's onhand as my computer mouse eats them up on a regular basis as do the clocks, toothbrushes, etc. Fun you have another Christmas celebration tomorrow.
Knock on wood the freezing rain hasn't hit. We had a bit of drizzle as we were coming home but it's warm enough that it didn't freeze up. Thanks Marie. :) Goodness you're going to have another busy day! Yum on more Pannettone and Peanut Brittle. I didn't get to the Peanut Brittle this Christmas but I do really want to make some so maybe for a treat in January?
So good to see you check in Joce and you sound good even if you feel weird and wonky. I think measuring out the ingredients in little bags for your Pecan Puffs to give to your grand-daughters is a great idea. Do take care. I know you like to be up and about and on the go-go-go so this is going to be frustrating for you but just hang in there and let each day pass and you'll feel better and stronger as you go along. DON'T PUSH IT! :) Thinking of you.

    Turkey Enchilladas Verde
for dinner. Gonna half the recipe at least as it makes a lot.

My three hours fridge time is almost up for the Gingerbread dough. Halving the recipe seemed to have worked well!

What a good little helper you are Marie :) Did you figure out dinner yet?

Hi Joce, good to see you!! Marie's doing most of the work over in the DML IMI. By the time I think about doing it she's already done the job! Oh gosh your going through so much right now. I do think the kids would love making your pecan puffs, they really are a fun cookie to make :) Rest up!

Turkey Enchilladas Verde looks like the perfect Mexican craving food Janet :)

Off to roll and cut Gingerbread Men!

Vet told me a spray bottle of vinegar, right in the mouth to stop a skirmish. Skippy is home, poor baby is in a lot of pain. You should have seen her tail wag when she saw Fred.
we got take out from #9 bangkok for supper. i am beat. i'm on antibiotic, anti=inflammatory and pain meds. plus the usual daily suspects. good visit with sleep disorder doc, my episodes of apnea have had a dramatic decrease.

joce, take it easy, you need every minute of your recovery for just that: recovery. it has to feel weird to be cut aft to stern without having side effects. is there a support group to talk about your feelings? Sometimes someone who has been through the procedure can ease the lingering concerns.

Sending successful gingerbread cookie baking to michelle.
    yummy enchiladas to janet.
    peace painfree evening to joce.
Blessings to Marie for helping hubby AND successful brittle making. YuMMy

Janet, that recipe for enchiladas looks divine..I know I have that one bookmarked from long ago:) I also wanted to let you know the Southern Peanut Brittle is pretty easy to make, easy as the microwave recipe..I do add some vanilla, a splash, when I add the butter and baking soda:) It takes about 12-15 minutes for the temp to reach 295 degrees on my candy thermometer..and the recipe states it takes 15 minutes to make..I have an electric stove so maybe it takes longer:)

Tina, I am so glad Skippy is home, poor little darling:( You both take care..xoxox

Off to help with dinner..have a lovely evening my friends:)

Oh good on lots of levels Tina. :) Glad to hear Skippy is home. Good tip from the Vet re: vinegar. Glad you're getting all the meds you need and that you had a good visit with your Sleep Dr. and that you're sleeping better lately. All good things. :) And oh...YUM on #9 Bangkok too. What'd you get?
Oh Yum on your dinner Marie! Hard for me to imagine raking leaves two days before Christmas. I can smell your Peanut Brittle from here. :) Thanks so much for your added info re: the Peanut Brittle. I'm going to copy and paste what you said and make a note on my bookmark.
Fire is roaring. Dinner's in the oven. Jim's reading at the moment and I just finished getting caught up on the paper but I PVR'd "Merry Frigging Christmas" with Robin Williams so we're going to watch that this evening.
Kimmer....hope you're having a wonderful Holiday season with your family!

Welcome home, Joce. Please follow the group advice to take it easy and not overdo.
Hope your drive was uneventful, Janet. Such cute sandwiches. LOVE the squirrel on the avatar.
Tina, the vinegar in the mouth trick is a good one to remember. I hadn't heard of that one. Glad Skippy is home.
We were out for chiropractor appt. and errand running, stopped by Slice of Pie and bought their cranberry cheesecake for Thursday. It is in the refrigerator and I hope it stays in good shape until Thursday. Their desserts are fantastic but very expensive.
    Hi to everyone.

Tina - can you crush the pill and put it in something Skippy loves to eat. Hamburger, ground turkey, canned dog food, whatever. Let's not lose any fingers. I have found it a lot easier to just tell the vet we need liquid medicine since it is easier to disguise in food.
