Tax Day Wednesday

  • notyourmomma 9 years ago
Ugh, finally got my taxes filed after working late into the night, Called an attorney on the insurance mess. I went to high school with him. He is an expert in ERISA and COBRA. He protects employees after separation from corporations. The claim of immediate assistance on Friday has not been processed yet. I'm barely functioing. Making an egg and a cup of coffee has me resting for an hour. I can feel the grout lines on the tile floor burning through my feet like hot timbers.I needed my medications two weeks ago. Marcus said he won't charge me. Bless his heart.

Scotty's parent are visiting and Olivia spent yesterday at the hospital. Kevin had a cyst blow behind his knee. He has been ordered to bed rest. Yucky way to start your vacation.

Janet, how are you feeling after the long bike ride? I remember my lamb dish that was not your cup of tea.

Joce, Lasagna soup? yum Snow in the backyard....I have snowy egrets visiting the pool.

Michelle, sorry meat so expensive and nearly non-existant, please tell me there is seafood. Yucky on the roaches, however they are common in subtropical climates. We have to use a bug service.

Laurie, ugh. Good luck on the running a 5k. A club, misery loves company. Can you tell I was never a runner.

Michelle, has Bri's schedule been keeping you on the run? Have you got a themed supper coming up soon?

Beaches are looking gorgeous. Expecting some rain showers at sunset.
Dinner, eh, I don;t care. Whatever I can scrounge.

I love maple taffy. Isn't a tart pickle served with the fresh taffy or is that an American tradition?

Morning Tina! How awesome you've found someone to help you sort out the Insurance stuff! Ouch on Scotty's Dad landing in the hospital and a cyst blowing behind your knee does not sound at all pleasant! I don't remember a lamb dish of yours that wasn't my cup of tea. CRAFT! I am feeling remarkably okay after my bike ride thankfully! SUPER COOL on having Snowy egrets visiting your pool! :)
I have an eye of round roast in the freezer that I'm going to bring up and turn into shish kebobs for this evenings dinner. Have to think of a side. Twice baked potatoes sound good.
Main item on the to do list today is a big house cleaning.
Big wave to everyone! Have a great day!

Tina, I a so pleased Marcus is willing to help you sort things out. Really shaking my head on how they have NOT processed immediate assistance YET!!! WOW snowy egrets would be very cool to see! I have never heard of a tart pickle being served with fresh taffy ever!
Good to hear you are not sore today after your long bike ride yesterday, Janet. Good luck cleaning the house. When you are done can you come and do mine:) I ordered the wooden blinds from Blinds.ca and we were very surprised at the price! We figured they would be anywhere from $800.00 to $1500.00 and they ended out being $630.00 taxes and everything included! I don't know if you did buy a blind for your other bedroom the other day or not? I will get you the link for them just in case. Your dinner sounds yummy!

MichelleB, I looked up foods in Fiji and I was very surprised at other foods missing there like fresh milk! They say they have powered milk and of course being an Island things are very costly to import if not produced on the Island. Are you located in Suva? They say markets in smaller villages are more reasonable. I bet kleenex and toilet paper and household things are very expensive as well. It is so interesting to hear you telling about all you adventures there. The only person I know of from Fiji is Vijay Singh the golfer. Other than that not much about it at all!

We will have sausages with mashed potatoes and creamed corn for dinner tonight.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

I've never heard of serving a tart pickle or any pickle for that matter with maple taffy either. That's very different.
Hi Joce! No, we haven't settled on a blind for Benjamin's room yet. I'll check out Blinds.ca thanks. A friend also told me that Sears has good prices on blinds. I love milk so would certainly miss that if I moved to Fiji (wishful thinking) :) I've never heard of that golfer guy. Yum on your sausage dinner. Sounds super yummy. I made a giant stride in my family tree on Ancestry.ca today. Two actually. Have hooked up with a distant relation on my side of the family who asked for my address so he can send me some cool stuff and then a guy from Jim's side of the family we didn't even know existed. He's been on Ancestry since 2011 and has done EXTENSIVE research which I think I can simply import into my tree saving me A LOT of work! :) Plus it's very cool info. :)
Okay...back to sweeping the floors. Sigh.

Hi all! Glad you got your taxes done Tina, you cut it close! Bri's schedule is not too bad this week, for some reason there are no softball or baseball games in Santa Fe at all this week, guess they took a week off :) I'm surprised the Coach hasn't made us practice either? Weird. I really hope you get your meds so you can maybe feel better. I too have never heard of maple taffy and a pickle...but now that you have me thinking, the sweetness with the sour...yum!

Yum on your dinner tonight Janet! Good luck with cleaning house :)

What a great deal on blinds Joce! Blinds can get pretty expensive, so sounds like you got a great deal! We bought the cheapest wood blinds we could find when we moved in 7 ½ years ago. Regretting it now!! They just break so easy. Almost all of the little sticks have broken of that you open and shut your blinds with. So now we are slowly buying new blinds, good ones too, yes we learned our lesson lol!

Just got back from the Union hall submitting our bills. They really are paying quite a bit, so that makes me happy and not so bad about paying Union dues. My neighbor is about to come over and show me how to put coupons on my Kroger card on top of coupons?! Anyway, whatever helps lol. Pulled out some ground chicken and don't know what I'm going to do with it yet. Need to go dig around in my recipe box. Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Tina, I have had such a major craving for pancakes lately it's crazy! :)
That's so great you are getting such support from the Union Michelle. Sure makes things easier in tough times! No news on them going back to work yet I guess? This is my favourite recipe to use with ground chicken/turkey
Turkey Club Burgers With Bacon And Swiss Cheese
Floors are done. Dusting is done. Now swabbing down the bathrooms. Jim's cleaning windows and putting on screens. So nice to have fresh air back in the house.

    Good morning all!

TIna, I hope you get some relief soon and great that you were able to get some legal help with the insurance.
Janet I am glad you aren't too plagued with after-effects from your bike ride. I am hoping that I will be able to ride around here but at the moment, the traffic gets my head in a knot because they drive on the other side and I haven't got used to that yet.
It is true that milk is not easy to get here and I have been warned about fresh milk because they are not as stringent around things like pasteurization (sp?) here. Powdered seems safer and then there is lots and lots of coconut milk which I love to cook with so I haven't missed it much yet.
There is lots of fish and seafood and especially at the public market. Once I find a house and have a real kitchen I will be able to get and use that but right now I have no way to clean or cook it because of course, it is all whole and often live. A microwave and an electric frying pan don't quite cut it for doing much.
It is cloudy here this morning and looks like a rainy day is in store so I will have to find an umbrella. I know I packed one but where to find it becomes the big question.
Hope everyone has a great day - gotta head to work.

    Michelle B.

Okay! Housework is complete and as a reward for such hard work I decorated my fireplace mantel piece with Sens Stuff in anticipation of the game tonight. Whoop! :)
Ai yi yi on driving on the wrong side of the road Michele. That would take some getting used to alright. Coconut milk is awesome I agree. Have a great day!

That chicken burger looks great Janet! I only have two pieces of bacon left though :(

Michelle, that's good to hear you can at least get Seafood, but bummer on a small kitchen. Hope you find a house soon.

I think I'm going to make this tonight http://allrecipes.com/recipe/cilantro-chicken-burgers-with-avocado/detail.aspx and make this to go on top Jalapeno Cilantro Coleslaw I still have quite a bit of cabbage in the fridge...good thing it stays good for a long time!
