Terrific Tuesday! :)

Good Morning everybody! IT'S SNOWING, IT'S SNOWING! HURRAYYYYYY! We have lovely Charlie Brown snowflakes coming down with a bit of accumulation on the ground. My bird feeder is very active and the deer were out on the back lawn eating up the last bits of the pumpkins that I chopped up from my fall decorating.
Had a lovely time at the Epicure party last night. They have A LOT of product. I just bought two things. A Guacamole seasoning made with bell peppers, garlic and chilies that you can sprinkle over sliced cucumbers, use to season shrimp or pasta etc., or to add to avocados to make a guac. And then I also bought a bottle of Sesame Ginger seasoning that you can make into salad dressing or toss with rice noodles , marinate veggies or season meats. I was tempted to buy their Paris Bistro seasoning as well as they had made a super yummy really garlicky bread dipping oil with it and they said it was also yummy to use as a seasoning in omelettes. (I never thought to put seasoning in my omelettes before really, except for salt and pepper, although in the summer time I do add fresh herbs from my garden). They had some bread out to dip, a veggie tray, some fruit for a dessert dip and they made Asian rice pepper rolls to showcase the Sesame Ginger seasoning and one other asian seasoning as well as a sate dip and a sriracha (which was too sweet and tasted too much like ketchup). It was fun.
I am in such a mood to cook and try out new recipes but with us heading off again on Tuesday and with me having so much to do before then, I'll hold off until I get home. If you think I have a zillion bookmarks on GR you should see all my food pins on Pinterest. :)
So....with it snowing today I take that as a good omen that it's the right day to put up my Christmas tree. I know I'm early but again, we're heading off, and I'd like to get the tree up and the house decorated before I leave and I also want to do a big house cleaning once the decorating is done as I'll have fake spruce needles EVERYWHERE, so I think today is the day.
Will pan fry that haddock since we didn't get around to it last night and make up the spinach and smashed potatoes on the side.
You had a super busy day yesterday Marie! Deli chicken and pasta salad sounded awesome for dinner!
What is the life expectancy of a chicken Karen? LOL. All these questions I have about your poultry friends. :) Again, my heart goes out to that little girl's family. Nice they have such a good community to rally around them. Good luck with your appointments today.
Sens Game on this evening but not 'til 8:30. Hopefully I can stay up 'til the end of it. I think we're officially over our jet lag now thank goodness.
Have a terrific Tuesday everybody! A little Peanuts cartoon for our U.S. friends upcoming celebrations. :)

Second try to post. Darn phone dropped the first.

Janet I have no idea how long chickens live -- our previous batch lasted five years but the raccoons killed them. The current batch lives in a chicken fortress designed to deter predators. I have to clean house after running errands today. No idea on supper, it depends on whether Wayne goes hunting and whether he gets a deer.....he is only looking for the Bucks, will not shoot the babies. He watched a doe her two little ones walk right in front of him yesterday, as I watched from inside. Last night we had to come o a complete stop as three itty bitty baby deer stood in the road.....no mama seen, so she was either shot or maybe just not close by. Thought about suggesting I just stop by your house for dinner---- haddock sounds yummy. LOL.

Marie, sometime in Dec. we will pick up a live tree and put it in the sun room. Kittens will not have access unless they sneak in she the door is opened. Which they are good at doing.

This morning Mel decided to stalk Mauser. She was crying and quite upset. I had to intervene, Mel probably had enough of kitten problems. It is about time the adult cats taught them cat manners, but I thought A.C. Would have been the offender.

I will get moving before this phone drops another post. Have great day.

Have fun veggie shopping Marie. Good luck with your house cleaning.
Sounds like the baby deer in the area are taking refuge at your place Karen. :) By all means come for dinner. I'll set an extra place. :) I do miss a real tree. And some year I'll get another one just for fun. You can't beat the beautiful scent.

Hello, we have snow too! About 10cm so far and another 10 or more expected. It's very blizzardy, white-out, blowing drifting snow. So the kids and I are tucked in for the day. Sophia is sick again, (surprise, surprise) and I wasn't about to drive in these conditions so I let the boy sleep in ;)
Tonight is Italian Turkey Sausage And Rice, the kids favorite meal. I bought a bag of coloured peppers to use for it and some sweet basil sausages.
Well I'd better go, I have to carve a path in the snow so the little dog can get off the deck to pee, lol! There's over a foot of snow in front of the sliding glass door from the drifting snow!
    Have a great day everyone!

We got just a dusting of snow thankfully, Janet. Lol I hate it and the cooler weather. It doesn't do well with my Raynaud's disease ( pronounced Raynode's disease). When I am out in the cold or even getting things out of the freezer, my fingers and toes turn white and it is very painful and I can't use then well. I have had it all my life but never knew it until about 15 years ago. Apparently my blood cells don't like the cold and so they all go to the center of my body to huddle together. I don't have it as bad as some people I have met. A young woman I know it not only affects her hands and feet but it goes all the way up her arms and legs! Lol enough of me and the cold! I checked out the Epicure Party site yesterday, while I was lurking and they have some neat spices. Sounds like you had a good time. I don't envy all the things you need to do before leaving. Are you and Jim driving there again or flying? If you are driving I don't envy the long 2 or three day drive. UGH!
    Hi Marie:)
Karen, When are the younger cats going out to the barn or has that plan changed?

OH NO poor Sophia! I hope she gets better soon. She certainly has a week immune system as she seems to get sick so often. Keep all that snow out West thank you!

We are having chicken something tonight with boneless skinless thighs. I have a few errands to do this afternoon so I will dress very warm.

    Wishing everyone a lovely day!

Hello all. I had yesterday and today off from work. The calm before the storm lol.
Last night we had raviolis and garlic bread. I made a huge meat sauce the rest of it I will use for thanksgiving. I have been commissioned to bring lasagna. Easy enough. I have to be back at Macy's on thanksgiving at 5:30.
I just did the exercise bike. My calves are so tight and no amount of stretching seems to relieve them. Anyone have any ideas?
It is common to have Raynoyds (sp) if you have another auto immune disease. Usually if you have one auto immune you have another they travel in pairs lol. I hit the jackpot with three :).
Tonight is Rachel's field hockey banquet. I have no idea what I am wearing!

Oh goodness on your blizzard Shona! Stayed tucked inside as best you can apart from the trail you need to forge for the puppy. :) Sorry to hear Sophia is under the weather again. It'll be nice for them to be at home with you today and they'll be pleased with the heart warming dinner as well!
Guess being in Canada during the winter is not a pleasant place for anyone with Reynaud's disease to be eh Joce? Do you and Den ever entertain the thought of going down south in the winter in years to come? I can just picture the little blood cells in a huddle. Who can blame them? I'm actually having quite a lot of fun getting back and getting ready to head off again. :) Jim and I are flying out this time. We'll go to Winnipeg and then rent a car from there. Good luck with your errands.
Yum on your dinner last night Laurie and your Lasagna for Thanksgiving. Too bad you have to work! I'd have thought they'd be closed? Have fun at Rachel's field hockey banquet!
Have finished dragging all the Fall decorations down to the basement and back into their boxes in the store room 'til next year and I've been trucking up Christmas things in return. Jim brought the tree up for me. I won't put up Santas and things until we get back but I'll have the majority of it done.

Hi! Cool on it snowing Janet! Sounds like the Epicure party went over very well, you made out good also :) I never think about adding anything other than salt and pepper to omelets either, I'm usually just thinking about what to put into it, bacon, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, etc.

Kitties do love Christmas trees don't they Marie? Lol, back when we had a cat in our apartment he climbed straight up the middle to the top...took forever to get him out!

Wow, y'all must have a ton of freezer room Karen for all these deers Wayne has been hunting!

Hi Shona :) I need to get around to making Italian Turkey Sausage And Rice, I know it would go over well here! Wow on all the snow you've gotten! Hope Sophia get's well soon :(

Ugh on the cold weather for you Joce, that doesn't sound like fun :( Chicken thighs sound good, I haven't made those in a while!

Lasagna is a nice change for Thanksgiving Laurie! I admit we do multiple Thanksgivings and Christmas's every year and I get pretty sick of the same ol' same ol' :) No idea's hear for your calves, wonder if a heating pad before and after would help loosen them up?

Wish Tina would check in, hope she's doing okay...

It's been cloudy all day and like it's about to rain, but nothing so far. It has cooled off, 67 degrees, perfect weather to open the windows and doors. At night it's been getting down in the 50's...brrrrrr! We have a white blanket (kind of like the one's in hotels under the comforter) that we pull out when it starts to cool off and add that to our bed and it's so comfy to cuddle up under, I love it :) Bad thing is I never want to get out from under it in the mornings! Pulled out shrimp for dinner and I can't figure out what to make with it! I wanted to do some sort of breading with bread crumbs or panko but I have neither :( No tomatoes, basil, parsley, cilantro...I need to go to the store lol, but we are about to go out of town for a few days so that's a no go. I'll keep thinking about it. Hope everyone has a wonderful afternoon!

    Hi Wendy!
Yum on shrimp for dinner Michelle. Just check FA's contributions to IMI and you'll have a ton of shrimp dishes to choose from. :)
I got the Christmas boughs mounted on the front gates and I added a few things to the other barrels. I have the fireplace mantel almost finished decorated, the bannister in the front foyer and the tree is up. Dining room table also partially decorated. We decided to wait 'til another day to actually decorate the tree.
I did up my contribution for this month's Book Chat at the Library. The book is "I am Malala". I won't be there but I emailed it in. :)
Time for a hot tub I think. Chilly out there.
I've heard of Epsom salts my whole life but don't think I've ever had an Epsom salt bath.

Wow on the snow, Shona. I can imagine the little red blood cells fleeing to a warmer climate...quite the creative way to explain Reynaud's. Hope the kids feel better, too.

Joce, the kittens are probably going to remain inside. They are quite happy. If anything, Trouble will want to explore the out of doors eventually - Mauser is skittish and happy to curl up on a lap.

Laurie, epsom salts in hot water with a bit of lavender essential oil will do wanders. I agree with the epsom salts suggestion.

Finished getting the kitchen in order - we have to clean the sun room and vacuum the LR for TG dinner tomorrow. Still have to make the cranberries and sweet potatoes. We are having it a day early because GS was supposed to have to work, now isn't until Saturday.

    Hi Marie, Laurie, Janet, everyone.

Mmmmm on lavender essential oil Karen......:)
Sweet potatoes are really popular in Taiwan. I think they eat those way over regular potatoes and there are sweet potato vendors on corners even, roasting?/steaming? them. I have never been a fan of cranberry sauce. I just don't get it. Perhaps I've just never tried the right thing.
Fish was a bit too salty. :( Used Old Bay seasoning and I guess I sprinkled it on a bit too thick. Really liked Bren's smashed potatoes. Will write them up in IMI tomorrow.

    Good evening everyone.

I woke up to snow on the ground this morning. It won't last because the temps are going up by the end of the week. I love the snow at Christmas but afterwards I can't wait for it to melt.

The party sounds like fun Janet. I haven't been to that type of party in years.
You sound so productive, makes me feel like a slacker. Sens game in 15... I will have to make this quick.

Marie, cleaning... now I'm really feeling like a slacker. The laundry is piling up and I have no incentive to do it.

Karen, lol on the chicken fortress but I can understand it after the racoons killed the last bunch. Awww, on the baby deer. I sure hope that the Mom is around.

The weather channel had a blurb on the storm that your getting Shona. It seems a bit early. So sorry that Sophia is sick again. Perhaps her health will be like mine. I had it all as a child and am seldom sick as an adult. Yumm on your sausage and rice.

Oh, Joce. Living with Raynauld's takes some planning. I never buy frozen goods unless Joe is with me. I've had my fingers freeze when it was 60 because I felt a chill. Mine isn't on the extreme level either although my nose and ears freeze in the winter. Hats, neck warmers and hand and toe warmers are my best friend in the winter.

Hi Laurie. I didn't know that it travelled in two's and three's, interesting. As for the calves, I wrap mine in a hot, moist towel.

Nice to meet you Optimistic 1 2. We usually get a real tree. The downside is that you can't leave them at as long though.

Michelle, if you have any type of bread in the house... you have panko or bread crumbs. Dry it out in the oven for a bit and them pulse in the blender or food processor. Depending where we have Thanks Giving, lasagna can be on the menu. Hubs is Italian but... doesn't like pasta. I still laugh about that after all these years.

Frankie has made some really great shrimp recipes.

    Yeah, the Sens just scored!!!!!

We had a bit of a scare this aft. Our daughter has weekly shots for allergies and had a severe reaction. The Doc. had to use the EpiPen and call an ambulance. Thankfully it all worked out but it was scary at the time.

Off to watch the rest of the game. Have a great evening all.

:) Grin! So you're a Sens Fan too Bren? Awesome! :) Goodness, so you have the same affliction as Joce. :( That's scary that your daughter had such a reaction! What was it to?Hope she's all okay now. Just over 3 minutes left in the first period. Tomorrow night the game is on an hour later even than tonight! Don't know if I can stay up that late!
    Sleep sweet all.
