Good morning Marie, Good luck at your dental appointment and hoping it is just a check up b/c you hadn't mentioned having any problems that I can remember! I hope you enjoy your Poker Night White Chicken Chili tonight.

Oh just in case Janet has gone with Jim and Ben into town today. Yes we have quite a bit of snow and it is here to stay. Probably on the ground until spring now. We had a dusting of snow again last night just enough to cover the cars again. It is an overcast 28F degrees today.

Tina, I am pleased you made out O.K. with the potatoes and that is a neat way to cut them too! Wow you had my kind of dinner last night too! How is Fred feeling today? I am really hoping he is much better. Hoping you have a smooth shift today

No way am I going to be able to address everyone and keep up with all the posts from yesterday. Den is having his regular Rib eye steak tonight or a filet mignon which ever he decides to pull out of the freezer. I haven't quite decided what I am going to have yet perhaps I might find something when I am out today.

    Wishing everyone a Happy TGIF!

Just finished mixing up a batch of Kbds All Purpose Rub and Sichuan Spice Rub . Mr. SuchAFuss and I are having a "Rub Off" (thank heavens there are no adolescent boys on this page). After making the wings rubbed down with the Mongolian Rib Rub last week we were inspired into a little competition. The Kbds All Purpose Rub is Mr. SuchAFuss' concoction and mine is the Sichuan Spice Rub . I have applied each to their own petite sirloin and this evening we will grill them up, split them up and provide critiques. Hopefully no hurt feelings in either court. Just a fun cooking game at home.

I'm off to Costco to pick up a few things. IT is a such a dreary chilly day here in Orlando I believe I will have to pass by Cricketers on my way home for a warm up. Later all.

    TGIF!!!!

Oh YUCK Marie! I have dentist-phobia...almost as bad as m-word-phobia!!!!!!!!! Good luck with that! :) I can't wait to hear how you all like the chili...that's one of our faves. I can't believe the price you got on that rotisserie chicken!

Hey Joce! I am still wishing we'd get some snow. It's been colder this week...maybe...winter seems to just be starting for us...which is not all that unusual. Den's Friday night steaks always sound so good. I wish I could eat beef more often. I LOVE steaks.

Laura, your cooking competition sounds like fun!! I'd throughly enjoy that. I just googled Crickters...looks like a neat place. Good for you. I tend to not go places like that when I'm by myself...and why the heck not???? I think that's something I need to change for 2013!

Just BLT's at my house tonight. Gonna start laundry and do some housework so I'm not tied down with that tomorrow. Hope to get an early start on the fun evening! Donna and Gary are staying at the same hotel as us in Knoxville. We can check in at 3, and the show starts at 730. Hope to get some pre-game cocktails in the room, then we can walk somewhere for a drink and appy before the show...then drinks and dinner after. Oh wait...that sounds like we are a bunch of boozers...lol...we won't be that bad! But it will be nice to not have to worry about an hours drive home! :)

Hey Tina! SP! Have a good day! I could be happy with a crab cake, too. Your dinner from last night did sound fantastic. Very cool trick on the taters. If I only had some chop sticks...lol

Laura, I would love to have a fun cooking contest at home. Good luck LOL I bet it is going to be a tie:)

Tina, You are killing me with your lunch a crab cake! OMG YUM!!!

Lori, Wishing you an absolutely fantastic time have fun. Yes when Bryan is at work , you should take the time to drop into one of those neat places even if you are alone. I vote on that plan for you this year. You might find some places you really want to try b/c of their goodies but Bryan wouldn't! Trust me I know that feeling only too well with Den and I do that every chance I get.

    Hi Guys!
Happy Friday Marie! Even though I have been retired for 7 months and 24 days (yep....I count it from time to time!) :) I still LOVE Friday's! Friday always has that 'fun' feel. That 'the weekend starts tonight' feel. :) Yum on that Chicken Chili recipe. Be sure to tell us how it turns out cuz I wouldn't mind something like that myself. Like you, Benj had a Dentist's appointment. Since he has graduated from University and is over 21 our Health Plan no longer covers him so we had to pay this one out of our pocket. $212 for a one hour cleaning. Ugh. Oh....and speaking of paying high prices...when I walked into Sobey's (my fave grocery store) today, their Rotisserie chickens were $10.99. Enjoy your leftovers even more knowing that! :)
Yum on Den's dinner Joce! Hope you found something yummy for yourself when you were out and about.
ROFL @ Rub Off Laura. That's too funny! And sounds like lots of fun for a Friday night meal and delicious as well. Have a good shop at Costco and fun at Cricketeers! :)
Have a good shift Tina. Your lunch sounds delectable as did your crab cake!
BLT's sound excellent Lori. I love BLT's. Don't have them often. I'm so excited for your Saturday evening. That's going to be so much fun! That's excellent all four of you booked into the same place. When a person pays a pretty penny for a Hotel room you want to get all you can out of it so I'd totally do the pre-show cocktails there too and as you say, it's super nice that everyone can just walk back there and relax after as opposed to having to face a drive home. Much more relaxing!
While Benj was at his Dentist's appointment Jim went off and got his blood work done as well as the ECG then we ran errands. I got teary eyed in the grocery store. Can you believe it? I'm such a wuss! Was realizing I'd no longer be buying tofu or veggie ham slices, etc.etc. and got all choked up. :) Keep it together Janet! :)
Jim's cleaning off the walkways and then we'll have lunch. I'm going to make that Egg Methi recipe for dinner and we picked up some Channa Masala, some Butter Chicken and some Palak Paneer to go along with it from the Indian Grocery store.

OH Janet! Bless your heart. I'd get choked up, too! I got choked up with Hil being 3 1/2 hrs away when she went to Nashville. Daisy would stand outside the front door of the apartment, whining and staring at it...and I knew she was looking for Hil! (Hil played with her and rubbed/petted her allll the time). Annnnnnyway....I just looked it up, and there are all sorts of awesome things to do in Taipei, Taiwan...128 things made it to Trip Advisor!
    http://www.tripadvisor.com.my/Attractions-g293913-Activities-Taipei.html
So here you go...you can start planning your first visit to see Benj in his new digs! Even if it will be a while before you get to go...it will probably take you that long to decide what to do and get it planned!! :)
    HUGS for you girlfriend!!
UGH on the out of pocket dental expenses.
Good luck with that Indian recipe tonight.

Costco was impossible to get into so I didn't. Something about grey and drizzle just shuts down the roads around here. Must be driving the snowbirds nuts. Oh yeah I forgot its the snowbirds that has everything over run. Butility now I am 5sucked in at cricketers with a hot coffee and a shot of Jameson's with my 2ark scotch egg on the way.

Thanks Lori! :) I had checked out Trip Advisor for Taipei as it's my favourite holiday link. Hadn't seen that Tofu St. link before though. I forwarded it on to Benjamin. :) Eeewww on the Tofu ice cream. And even worse than that is "Stinky Tofu" ( a form of fermented Tofu...as if regular tofu wasn't gross enough! )which is considered a specialty there.
The link below is one of the oldest night Markets in Taipei and is quite close to where Benjamin will be staying initially. He plans to get his meals there the first few days until he gets oriented.

Wow on Costco being so busy Laura. Jim and I were just talking about the Seniors heading south this morning. When Jim was in the clinic for his blood tests there were a couple of elderly ladies there getting things done before they headed your way! :)I've never had whiskey in my coffee. Yum on your scotch eggs. Enjoy!

Ohhhhhhh.....I wasn't connecting the dots Laura. I have had an Irish Coffee before now that you say that. Whipped cream on the top. Sugar rim. Yep. Those are pretty yummy alright. Haven't had one in eons. Perhaps I should mark that down for St. Patrick's Day! :)
Boy the new Eggs Methi recipe smells heavenly. Ground up the spices and toasted them first. Mmm,mmm,mmmm....(Lori, you would hate it!) :)

Lori, I found out I have some bone loss on a front lower tooth, and I need a crown...on another tooth. I'll probably have to have some work done because the tooth with bone loss will not last forever..such is life.

Need to check the chili, talk to you soon:)

    Hey all
Didn't work today. Lounged around like a slug. Not feeling great little headcold and headache just felt like lounging.
http://www.emilybites.com/2011/05/slow-cooked-mexican-pulled-pork-tacos.html?m=1 made this last night and it was good.
Tonight I made her chicken piccata. Also good

I prefer red peppers to yellow anyway Marie, plus it'd be even more colourful so I'm sure it doesn't matter! Ouch on your tooth. I've had a crown or two. When do you have to go back?
You totally deserve a lounge day Laurie but I'm sad to hear you're under the weather for it! :( Those pork tacos sound excellent and I love Chicken Piccata. Haven't had it in years. Get a good sleep. Cuddle up.

Marie you can totally use any color pepper you want. I can't tell much difference in them...except for the green ones which I hate. lol I just put yellow in the recipe cause that is more in keeping with "white"...lol. I've never had white chicken chili with any peppers in it...but I like them. :)
UGH on the tooth! Sorry to hear that.

Glad you liked the song, Janet!

    Feel better, Laurie!!
