Thanksgiving Thursday

Good Morning Everyone. And Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating.

Cranberry sauce is made. Pumpkin pie is made. Pulled the turkey breast from the crockpot this morning and have that all cleaned up for later. All there is left to do is make the stuffing later, bake the sweet potatoes, and steam the green beans. I'm ready to eat now!!

Good Morning Linda and Happy Thanksgiving to you and all the other U.S. GR'ers. It kills me every American Thanksgiving when I read what wondrous goodies you guys are making for Thanksgiving Dinner. One year I think I did actually do a turkey or a turkey breast just so I wouldn't feel left out. LOL!

Not sure what I'm going to make for dinner yet. Have to check my supplies.

Jim has headed off to give blood. I can't give yet. I think I mentioned before that they've changed the rules and women can't give as often as men anymore because supposedly it depletes our iron more. :(

I'm going to work on my chalk board this morning. I've cleaned up the kitchen. Chatted with Benjamin a bit. When he got home from work there was a fire on the 12th floor of his apartment building and the fire fighters won't allow anyone inside of course. His apartment is on the third floor. Glad he's safe and hope everyone else is too!

What time does everyone eat their Thanksgiving Dinner at? Afternoon or evening?

I have the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on and am looking so forward to the National Dog Show later which I will probably tape because I always miss parts of it and I want to see ALL the dogs. My favorites are of course the Maltese and then the Irish Wolf Hound and the small Beagle.

Oh ya!!! I forgot about the Parade and I have heard of the Dog Show too. I wouldn't mind seeing that myself just for something different.

    Have decided to make
    Korean Chicken Lettuce Wraps
    for dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends! Enjoy your Turkey Day!

Glad you are almost set for dinner, Linda. You sound very organized for your dinner. I forgot about the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and also the Dog Show.

I am glad Ben is O.K., Janet. Fires can be so scary. I hope he has a fire extinguisher and smoke detector. They can come in handy when needed. Good luck with your chalkboard project.

Not much happening here today and I am not sure what we are having for dinner yet. I better get my thinking cap on.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

I feel the same Janet when Canada is having their Thanksgiving ... I like your idea of celebrating both! Why not.
How long do they make women wait between blood donations?
Scary about the fire at Benj's place. Glad though it didn't turn out to be something horrific but awful still that he can't get into his apartment. I wonder how they contain water damage in high rise places when something like that happens?
Hope you finish your chaulk board project and take some pictures for us when it's all done and set up with something written.

Our day will be like your day Joce. Not much going on and I'm liking it that way. Other than cooking and watching tv that'll be it for us.

I bought "farm fresh" eggs at the Farmers Market and when I cracked my first egg for DH's breakfast it was a double yolk! Never ever had a double yolk egg ever. I looked to see if there were any superstitious beliefs and this is what I found:
"If you're a superstitious person, getting an egg with a double yolk can signify that you or your female counterpart is going to be pregnant with twins. Or, if you subscribe to Norse mythology, it means someone in your family is going to die."
Well there is no chance of me getting pregnant and surely not wanting the other.
The scientific explanation is: "Approximately one egg in every thousand is double-yolked. These are produced by hens who have just started laying eggs (as their reproductive cycle is still working out how to perform the task correctly), or by hens who ovulate too quickly."

I looked for the Dog Show on my TV but didn't see it. Perhaps I don't get the channel. :(

Morning Joce! I've no clue if Benjamin has a fire extinguisher (I'd be very surprised if he did) and I'm afraid the vast amount of apartments in Taiwan I've ever been in do not have smoke detectors. :(

Canadian Blood Services lets men donate blood every 56 days and they now make women wait until 84 days since their last donation. Oh Goodness Linda at the Double yolk superstitions!!! LOL.

    Good morning. Happy Thanksgiving!

Ugh on the fire in Benjamins apt. Good he is on the third floor! Would he install a fire / smoke alarm if you sent one?

Linda, you are way ahead of me. I am still cleaning and prepping, we are having our dinner tomorrow instead of today.

We will relax and will watch the Macy's parade which we recorded, minus the excessive number of commercials....ha ha! The oven is self cleaning and was in dire need. I bought an oven mat to put down after it cools down so it won't get so messy so fast.

Joce, I agree nice quiet days are perfect, in my humble opinion.

Wayne bug bombed the RV. Will vacuum the deceased fake ladybugs and clean the shower, sink, etc. Then it will be ready for a quick once over in the Spring.

Both of us plan on taking a short nap before getting back to preparing for tomorrow. Have a great day.

Just heard from Benjamin again. The fire is out and they've let people back in to the building. He says he does have a smoke detector. Good that Wayne got the bug bombing done. Good luck with your prep Karen.

Oh forgot ... We will probably eat between 4:30 -5:00.

I'm not really way ahead of you Karen if you are eating tomorrow. I cleaned and prepped the day before too. I just can't do it all on the same day anymore. It's just way too much.

That's great Benj is back in his building. And good too that he has a smoke detector.

Watching Macy's parade. The interviews and singing groups just are not my thing...ha ha. A gorgeous Siamese cat came to visit. AC went ballistic and wanted to crash thru the window. I hope it is my neighbors cat just out wandering. AC was not at all hospitable.

It is not her cat. Sigh. I put cat food out. Hope it only comes at night because AC is a bully and the result would not be good if it shows up in daylight.

I saw the photo of the Siamese on your FB page Karen. It's beautiful!

Ok, now I know who the cat is Karen. Hoping it is one of the neighbors ... is that possible? She's pretty.
I too was not into the parade ... too much that is not appreciated by my generation. I caught some of the dog show but not much. I taped it so I can watch it another time. I did see the dog that won Best In Show.

Nailed dinner. Everything turned out well and I ate way too much stuffing but it's my favorite item and I only make it for a Thanksgiving so I enjoyed it and will again tomorrow. LD even got a taste of pumpkin pie so he was happy too. DH gave everything the thumbs up especially the pie.

I'm whooped and calling it a night. See you all tomorrow.
