This and that Tuesday.....

    Good Morning Everyone!
Who remembers Luca Manfe from Masterchef? Just read that he has moved to Houston, Texas. That's pretty darn close to you I think Michelle! Maybe you'll see him out and about some day. I always thought he was super nice.
Also read that Trader Joe's has a new air popped popcorn called Baconesque White Cheddar. The popcorn is supposedly air popped n a rotating drum, tossed with a Cheddar cheese seasoning made with real Wisconsin white Cheddar cheese, a bacon-ish natural smoke flavor (thus baconesque) and sells in a five-ounce bag that will run you $1.99. And so....now I need some but we don't have Trader Joe's. :(
We've had a recall on ground cumin here in Canada. The manufacturer is recalling Signal, No Name, Sunspun and Irresistables brand ground cumin as they say the spice may contain almonds? and they're worried some one may suffer an allergic reaction. I'm very thankful none of us suffer from nut allergies as it's very worrisome. Some of those brands are just no name pouches which people tend to open and pour in to refill a spice bottle so they may not even remember what brand it was that is in there.
    I'm making
    Pork Souvlaki
for dinner this evening and also a mini baked potato recipe using Boursin cheese. Need to think of a veg. The fridge is getting a bit bare.
My back has gone out on me today. I felt it twinging yesterday. This happens from time to time. Pulling out the old heat pad.
    Wishing everyone a Terrific Tuesday!

Three, count'em, three new restaurants featuring tapas and designer cocktails are opening in downtown St. Pete. Fred's at the Vinoy, Annata on Beach Drive and Patanegra on Central and 2nd. I love a tapas menu, trying and sharing plates of appetizers or small plates.

Both Scotty and Olivia are pounding the pavement for new jobs. Scotty is fed up because the new owners are using inferior purveyors. He is upset using product that drastically changes his cooking. Olivia was told she can't take a break to eat???? Against labor laws.
Plus they are messing with her pay check and declared tips.

Nails today, I think. Curried Chicken salad and fruit (watermelon) for dinner.

I'm not sure what I will tackle when I get home.......maybe a pillow fight.
A fur collar costume for your dog to scare your postman......or freak people out at the dog friendly bars when you walk in with a lion.

Good Morning Tina! There was an article just last week in the food section of our paper that said it’s seemed like almost every other notable new Ottawa restaurant has made small plates central to its menu. It's a 'thing' all over! :) I love small plates and Tapas too. My fave type of meal really. I bought a super cute Tapas cookbook a few years ago and don't think I've even made one thing yet. :( Good luck to Scotty and Liv in their pursuit of new jobs. Have fun with Angie. Your dinner sounds nice.

    Good morning Janet and Tina:)

I get e-mails everyday about food recalls from CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency), Janet. You might want to subscribe? http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/util/listserv/listserve.shtml
They let you know way ahead of the news about salmonella, botulism, listeria and possible allergens in foods etc. They are right on top of things 24/7 too. LOL I am not a big fan of popcorn so I will pass on the Baconesque White Cheddar popcorn. I will jump all over your Pork Souvlaki for dinner though!

Tina, I doubt Olivia and Scotty will have a problem finding new jobs! Sending excellent Good Luck Vibes to both of them landing a good job! I loved the lion costume pic you have on FB. LOL I could just imagine CB in it!

I have a pot of beef vegetable soup simmering away on the stove and it smells amazing! Dinner will be either pork chops or chicken and I might just toss a coin.

    Wishing everyone a good day!

We can bring cans of paint to HHW and many Hardware Stores do that. Tina, maybe call around and see any any Hardware or Paint stores do that?

Your soup sounds delicious, Janet! I have never put wild rice in soup before if I remember correctly? I must try that some day.

Hi all! That is cool that Luca lives so close to me Janet, I'll keep my eye out for him :) My kiddos loves TJ's White Cheddar popcorn...I'll have to look for the one with the added bacon flavor....too neat! That's crazy about the cumin, wonder why there would even be any almonds in it? Pork souvlaki sound delicious for dinner :)

Hi Tina! I've never been to a Tapas restaurant but I have been to restaurants that offer small plates as well as a full sized menu. Good luck to Scotty and Olivia to finding a job. That's messed up they wouldn't give her breaks and screwing around with the money she makes. I don't blame them for leaving.

I'm going to take a look at that link as well Joce, thanks! Yum on the soup!

Went to the library today and a few other stops. Bri was wanting me to find a specific book series called Allie McDoodle? Anyway they were all checked out, so it must be a popular one! I did pick her up some of the Ramona books, I know she'll like those, I remember reading them when I was younger and I liked them. Got Caiden a few books and a DVD.

Briauna's team won last night 7-3! I have a huge knot on my shin from ramming my leg in these weird pole things that stick out of the ground sideways. I was reading a text and not watching where I was going so my fault. Well at least now my leg will match my eye :P

Bri has another game so that means a quick dinner. Going to make some chicken salad sandwiches tonight using up some left over chicken. Hope everyone has a great day!

Wild rice is really nice in soups Joce and I think it tastes kind of nutty (in a good way) :)
I too wondered about why there would be almonds in the cumin Michelle. I've never heard of Allie McDoodle books but I have heard of Ramona. :) Congrats to Bri's team on their win. Ouch on the bruised leg. Yum on chicken salad sandwiches. Jim loves those and I never think to make them.
While I've been glued to my hot pad Jim has been most productive taking down the old wallpaper border in Benjamin's room. It's slow going.

Congrats on Bri's big win, Michelle! My goodness do be careful!

Glued to your hot pad what did you hurt, Janet? Ugh! What an awful job taking down wallpaper!

I am overjoyed at the moment! I joined FB b/c of my ancestry and I have been e-mailing back and forth to Cornwall England all afternoon to a new relative! Plus another more distant one in Vancouver, who also has some incredible info and photos. She sent me pictures of the Manor our family had in Cornwall, England old ones and new ones because she has been there! The house is incredibly old and has been kept up very well. She sent pics of the inside of the house and the Great Room as they call it (living room) has an awesome fireplace she says you could park an Austin Mini in. It is that big! In the back of the house where a gorgeous stone patio is, there is a spring! I will see if I can show you that picture and what she says about it sometime. Cool eh!

    Hi to all.
Sending good luck for Olivia and Scotty in finding new jobs!
Ugh on the back, Janet. No fun!
Wild rice soup and veggie soup sound good! Maybe it will inspire me!
Hope your walking-while-texting injury is better, Michelle!
Home from Tuesday errands day. Wayne's buddy stopped by with a friend to pick up some of his tools so he can fix a sink. He brought her in to see the sun room and kitchen. Of course this was the one day I had left dishes in the sink frm yesterday, Wayne had not cleaned the black surface stove after using it this morning, and the sun room door had come open scattering debris around, which I had not swept up this morning before leaving! Sigh! The one sure way to have company drop by!
Have not heard of tapas restaurants but it sounds like fun.

    See you later.
